Common Room Layout:

Founder: Salazar Slytherin. Blazon: vert, a serpent argent (that is, a silver serpent on a green field, hence the Slytherin colours of green and silver). The serpent device signifies the founder's gift of being a Parselmouth. Location: The Slytherin Dungeon is located behind a wall in the cellars of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A password spoken to the wall is required to enter it; whereupon a passage is revealed leading to the common room -- a low-ceiling, dungeon-like room with greenish lamps and chairs. This dungeon extends partway under the lake, giving the light in the room a green tinge. The common room has lots of low backed black and dark green leather sofas with buttons, skulls, and dark wood cupboards. It has quite a grand atmosphere, but also quite a cold one. The password to the common room changes every fortnight, and it is posted on the noticeboard.

Dormitories

All students will be living in separated dorms the ENTIRE stay at Hogwarts with a few changes. All first- third year dorms are of the same design, a rectangular room with six fourposter beds, cabinets, bedside locker and room for personal trunks at end of each bed. They rooms are spacious enough for the six beds. First, Second and Third year students are allowed to live with one another. Fourth and Fifth years move into rooms a little over half the previous ones with less form mates, Max three per room. Sixth and Seventh years have the option to live by themselves in a single room, (sized appropriately) if they wish or can remain with their previous room mates or relocate to a new room. ALL these rooms are located in the threads separated by gender/house. The dorms are not a X-rated thread area.

Common Room Layout: Common Room Appearance:

Founder: Helga Hufflepuff. Blazon: a badger sable (that is, a black badger on a golden field, hence the Hufflepuff colours of yellow and black). Location: The Hufflepuff Dormitories and Common room have never been seen by outsiders and is the only house with repelling devices in case of intruders. They are accessed through a pile of large barrels, found stacked in a shadowy stone recess on a right-hand side corridor near the kitchens. * The barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open if tapped in the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff'.* As a security device to repel non-Hufflepuffs, tapping on the wrong barrel, or tapping the incorrect number of times, results in one of the other lids bursting off and drenching the imposter in vinegar. However, once you make it through the tunnel entryway, the Hufflepuff dormitory is a quite cosy and welcoming place; it always feels sunny. The common room is a large, earthy, round room with low ceilings. The view from the round windows is of dandelions and rippling grass. The decor emphasises the earthy-feel of the room with plants hanging and resting all about the room, some that even sing and dance. Burnished copper touchings with plush, cozy yellow and black patterned sofas and chairs welcoming a Hufflepuff student to relax and discuss the interesting specimens delivered by professor Longbottom, the former Head of House's favorite student in herbology . A Hufflepuff student retires through big, round doors in the walls of the common room to their dormitory

Founder: Godric Gryffindor. Blazon: gules, a lion rampant or (that is, a golden lion on a red field, hence the Gryffindor colours of scarlet and gold) . Location: Gryffindor Tower, entrance on the seventh floor. The entrance is located behind a large painting of a Fat Lady in a pink silk dress. If you know the right password to tell her, she swings open to reveal a round opening in the wall.

Common Room Layout: Common Room Appearance:

Founder: Rowena Ravenclaw. Blazon: azure, an eagle or (that is, a golden eagle on a blue field, hence the Ravenclaw colours of blue and bronze) Location: is located on the west side of the castle; the entrance is a door at the top of a tightly winding spiral staircase that leads up from the fifth floor. The door has neither handle nor keyhole, but a talking bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. Rather than asking for a conventional password, the knocker will ask a question; if answered correctly, the knocker will compliment the person on the answer and the door will swing open The Ravenclaw common room is one of the airiest rooms at Hogwarts. It is a wide room with a midnight blue carpet, arched windows hung with blue and bronze silks, and a domed ceiling painted with stars. During the day, Ravenclaw students have an excellent view of the school grounds, including the lake, Forbidden Forest, Quidditch pitch, Herbology gardens and the surrounding mountains. The room is furnished with tables, chairs, and bookcases; and by the door leading up to the dormitiories stands a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble. According to Prefect Robert Hilliard, the sound of wind whistling around the windows of the tower is very relaxing while going to sleep. It is out of the west window high on the towers stone tiles, just before the gargoyle, a niche is barely visible. Here is a place known over time by Ravenclaw students at the Raven's Perch. A small secluded space where any Ravenclaw can seek solitude.
