Character Creator: Lord Drake Why is this character in the specified house? His sense of honor would have had him in Gryffindor. His love for knowledge in Ravenclaw. His hard working mentality in Hufflepuff. The fact that each and every of those qualities were at the service of a ruthless ambition eventually convinced the Sorting Hat to go into a completely different direction. How did your character react to this news? He was intrigued, although he also was worried about the possible living shoulder-to-shoulder with slytherin pureblood racists. Still, he was not the kind to back up from a challenge. Are his/her parents former house mates of this house? His father attended the magic school in Japan. He probably would have been sorted into Gryffindor... but only barely. There's not much difference between he and his son. What traits associated with the house are noticeable in this character? Slytherin are not necessarily pureblood-happy dark arts-loving wizards. Kichirou is ambitious and all his life is a battle to climb the social ladder, both in the muggle and in the mage world. He also is absolutely pitiless for the losers. He incarnates the Slytherin ideal in his own Samurai-like way. Wand: eleven and ½ inches, cherry, puffskein hair, elastic. This wand has been especially constructed by Yoshi Sakamoto, one of the oldest wand makers in all Japan. This man builds wands following an ancient ritual and the wand gets passed to his owner in a way that reminds of a Samurai receiving his first sword. Cherry wands are actually very powerful wands and of almost lethal power although they are difficult to use for a gaijin. Puffskein hair, on its part, gives the most of its power for all spells related to love and music. She’s a very curious and brave little beast and loves to suddenly jump on the lap of people she likes and then settle there. She is rather good tempered and will allow to be patted or manipulated a little by people other than her owner. She has an excellent orientation sense and is very intelligent. She is a clean beast and Kichirou is rather fond of her. It is not a good idea to actually be rude with the little toad while her Slytherin rockstar friend is nearby.

Appearance

Hair: Black Eyes: Deep brown Weight: 75 kgs Height: 180 cm Physical Appearance: Kichirou’s body structure is extremely well fit, the result of a continuous and well aimed training. Given the fact that his image is so popular and that often his look involves being bare-chested, Kichirou needs to make sure to be always 100% in shape. His movements are always cat-like and he always looks like at ease wherever he is. His face is really extremely expressive… he can assume a “boyish” cute expression although his business like visage is far colder and sharper than that. He is always maniacally cured in his aspect and he always dresses stylishly and impeccably. He wears glasses when he reads. His smile is probably his best feature, at least according to his fans of the female gender. Other distinguishing features: Has a scar on his back, memento from a fall from a tree on which he had climbed when he was 7.

Personality

Dutiful – Sense of duty is probably the strongest force that guides Kichirou’s actions. His father has groomed him to follow the rules of bushido, albeit in his own personal way. He knows that he has duties and responsibilities towards his family, himself and his own career and he is ready to work as hard as it is needed and sacrifice everything it is needed to fulfil them. He is not the kind of person to step back from trials, if this means fulfilling a duty. Honorable – Kichirou’s own code of honor isn’t probably easy to understand for us westerners since a part of it hails back to the old (and let me say, rather sexist) medieval japan costumes. Some parts of it are, as an example, always keeping his word if he explicitly gives it, never attacking first an helpless foe, always being polite with females. It is worth noting about that last point that “being polite” does not preclude him at all from actually entering a fight with a female, if needed. Self controlled – again, he is a rockstar. He had to deal in his life with things like journalists trying to snoop into his private life or, worse still, into his parents’. He deals with teenager groupies and with autograph hunters. Really, the first thing that he has learned has been how to keep his own cool into extreme and unexpected situations. Proud – Kichirou knows his worth. All the results he had obtained in his life came from hard work and careful planning. He earned everything he had and this, in his book, means that he deserves respect and consideration. There is nothing inherently bad in not having skills as good as his own, but if someone is not at his level, it should be publicly recognized. He gets especially annoyed by some pureblood’s pretension of being better than him simply because their witch mother fucked a wizard and got subsequently pregnant. Pitiless – Kichirou does not go out of his way to cause harm to other people. He does what he needs to do to fulfil his own aims. That said, he does not concern himself with the destiny of those who lose against him or anyone else. A loser is a loser and while Kichirou does not hate anyone without a specific reason, he feels that it is over the bodies of losers that the winners build teir life and careers.

A Little Deeper

Kichirou is the firstborn son of Ken Hatayama and Saori Fujutsuki, the only other wizard in his whole family being his father. Actually, there are stories of ancient relatives of them being “strange” but still there is no trace of anything wizard-like in their family for at least five generations. Kichirou’s father, Ken, has been a muggleborn wizard and as soonas his powers fully manifested, he was sent to the school of Mahoutokoro in Japan, to learn the way of magic. What he learned there, was that those with muggle parents like him were considered a sort of inferior race by the so called purebloods. There was a girl there, for which he had more than a little crush but since she was a pureblood she treated him with disdain and even ended up heavily insulting him in front of the eyes of his own father. That is why, in Kichirou’s family, pureblood wizards aren’t exactly liked. Ken married a muggle, a beautiful woman named Saori. From her, he had two male sons. Ten years after giving birth to her second son, she fell ill and died. The oldest of Hatayama’s sons, Kichirou, eventually displayed magical abilities while the other one, Ayato, turned out to be a Squip. In the meantime, their father’s skill for business and utter ruthlessness had made of him one of the most successful tycoons of all Japan’s wizardry world and a force to be reckoned with given his great power and influence. At age 13, Kihirou displayed interest in music and an uncanny skill at singing. Given the fact that the boy kept diligently studying at school, his father didn’t see any reason to forbid him and so young Kichiro started his first lessons of guitar. A couple years after he founded his first amatorial group with some friends and in occasion of his 16th birthday his father agreed at having him register a song in a professional study. The idea was to keep this first “single” named Unicorn something strictly reserved for the little circle of Kichiro’s friends… instead, it became a hit amongst all the teenagers in his town. Suddenly turned from normal person into prodigy, Kichirou reacted with intelligence and ruthlessness and now, at age 19, he is already a smash hit in Japan and a worldwide talent under the name of Blade Lee, solo singer and frontman of the Unicorn X rock band. In all this, he wanted to go on with his studies as he thought it was important for him to have a proper education. Japanese schools were out of the question, though, since he was simply too famous to hope for some quiet there. He went on with private tutors for a little while, but his desire to get an instruction in a “normal” school finally paid off when his father decided to relocate himself in London in order to personally follow his budding European affairs. And so it came to pass that Kichirou Hanayama enlisted to Hogwarts. Notes: Despite his inner rigidity, Kichirou is still a social animal. He has an innate magnetism and his usual countenance is of educated friendliness. He actually has several “in character” behaviours depending if he is talking with journalists, fans or normal acquaintances. His real self is in truth rather collected and amongst Kichirou’s favored hobbies there is bonsai tending and calligraphy. His favored music is Symphonic Classic. He is actually a tenor with a very powerful vocal range. He is extremely well versed in music and can skilfully play the guitar, classical and electric, the violin, the plane and the drums. In particular, he likes from time to time to play the traditional Japanese “Taiko” drums. His voice is very musical although this effect is a bit subdued when he starts talking English which is not his native language. English does not give any problem to him, while singing.
