This wasn't their endgame, on the 6th. That was their start. The rallying cry. We're gonna see more. The pattern isn't one and done, and they don't see this as a loss. This was a win. They had the police on their side, they attacked journalists, they assaulted the halls of government, and they're getting slaps on the wrists. The point was made. They can do this. Again. And again. And again. The whole thing thrives on the narrative that they're part of something greater. That some power is keeping them going, and will support them. There's gonna be more than a second wave. Unless something stops them. And tbh, they'd see Trump being impeached or Joe Biden sworn in as a call to action, so either way, they're gonna be fighting.

Millions?  I'm not downplaying the seriousness of the threats, but I wonder just how many there really were attacking the Capitol yesterday and how many will show up to something on the 21st.  Again, not passing it off as unimportant or not serious, 'cause it's been proven many times over that it just takes 1, but still.  Claiming it was millions feels a bit...self-agrandizing.

You can see how they shoot when she's about to jump through the window that was smashed. What I'm reading is that the secret service are on the other side there because that's where Mike Pence was taken to. They were going to shoot everyone who came through that door, which is exactly what the secret service is supposed to do.

She was a Californian air force vet whose social media is all about making liberals cry and ranting about democrats. Now she's just another idiot who died for the confederate flag, while wearing the name of a man who won't think twice about her. I wonder if she had PTSD, but nobody seems to know. She certainly seems very unhinged on her twitter videos. I don't feel sorry that she got shot by the secret service. I do feel sorry she ended up in a place in her life where she was convinced that all she was doing was a good idea. But I might feel differently if I was one of the people she was coming after. There were people with her going through the halls of congress with zip ties looking to kidnap congresspeople and probably do unspeakable things to them.

Everyone egging her on, breaking the doors, helping her up as she tries to go through the breach, should all be charged with her murder. They all basically pushed her into the path of the bullet as far as I'm concerned.

They are, but the justification of automatic weapons as a solution to wild animals is actually ineffective. The only people who can hunt that way are rich people who can afford private helicopter rides on a regular basis and do not represent the average gun owner.

If you want to make a better argument for gun rights now, you should do it from a (non-tanky, non-establishment Democrat) left-wing perspective. The argument that disenfranchised groups cannot rely upon the State for protection, and that any gun control laws put in place will not affect white conservatives, Christians, and other socially dominant groups the most. Now you won't win over many Republicans, most of whom want guns for...less noble reasons, but those people aren't the ones in need of protection from the State to begin with.

I realize that this may be a bit of an off-topic conversation in light of current events, so I'll point out a 2nd Amendment thread where I discussed gun right from a leftist perspective.

Damn right. They were insurgents with hostile intent and the Secret Service was doing what was expected of it. And they wouldn't have had to if the terrorists had not tried to breach the perimeter, had not come armed, had not shown clear hostile intent. They kept pushing the line with what they could get away with and have no right to complain when the line pushed back.
