We've spent the past year listening to the news call white supremacists who threaten to drag the government through the streets for making them wear masks patriots, why would this go any different.

What's funny is that when they want to rally as white supremacists, they have no issue wearing bandanas around their faces to hide their identities.

This is plainly shocking, but once again in step with Trump's ideas of how to work up crowds and of the function of politics. The rebels who stormed the Capitol may not have been following a plan from Trump's inner circle, but they were taking their inspiration from Trump, Powell and Giuliani for sure, and being egged on by them.

by "the congress" I meant the people, the elected officials, according to reports they have all been moved to a safe location and are by best reports in good condition.

I don't think they'll be doing any work in the Capitol Building or a while.

It seems they intend to carry on the day's business. There are large rooms within the Capitol complex where the vote count and debates can take place other than the chambers. There seems to be a spirit of "we will not let a mob delay our work" which is admirable and I hope they go on through the night. The live reporting is also putting forward suggestions that the Republicans may withdraw their motions after this.

This protest has not be addressed by 45 and it therefore appears he is supporting and encouraging it.

The media is calling it anarchy.

Correct. It's been used in the past when the president is undergoing a medical treatment and literally can't do the job.

Impeachment would take too much time (and anyway, it would just mean gathering his congress cronies behind him). The guy needs to be removed from office and sent to jail for sedition, asap.

Impeachment (and its associated punishments) could prevent 'Trump 2024'.  25th might be able to get him away from the reins for a time.  Charges of sedition would be independent of both of these options. 

I think today's events might result in more than a few Republicans changing their shorts.

I'm sure legal means of removing him have been investigated so the job could be done outside of impeachment but time is running out for any of that.  No one is even trying to bring it up so it seems this is not an option.

Members of Congress have stated they are going to return to complete the certification process.

It will be interesting to see if the dirty dozen +1 of dissenting Senators will continue their objections.

It is a time consuming process that requires cooperation of members across the aisle from each other and I don't see that happening.

We need to get the election certified by Congress and move on.  Then law enforcement can begin to identify all of those they can and begin to bring charges as soon as Biden and Harris are sworn it.  That way any chance Trump might have to pardon any of they will be averted.

Meanwhile, the world has taken a dim view of Trump and members of Congress who they hold responsible for today's actions.
