What's scary is: the authorities seem to know where she came from (flew in from Florida), that she purchased all of these weapons (legally), but have no clue as to where she is now!

The UK is about to launch its controversial age limit/identity checks law for online adult stuff - porn video, it is - though originally it was meant to be wider and more comprehensive, including stories and images too.

The makers of the law : tg¨his has been a pet project of the conservatives ever since Cameron, and May was qyuite involved with it back in the day - tried hard to make it impossible to access adult content for users inside the UK without submitting legal details about your r/l identity to some nice government-run register (with the spectre of child porn and grooming as the bogey excuse) but it looks like they had to give up: people solidly over 18 will be able to buy an anonymized permanent "digital key card"  in selected stores, showing their passport or driver's license at the counter but without creating any link between the r/l ID and the future use of the key. :)

It might be anonymous at the point of purchase, but they're still tying it to people's devices and likely their IPs. Therefore, it isn't.

Agree, also I've been suspecting all along that there will be an upsurge of trade in faked driver's licenses... :)

The real objective of this law is the shaming aspect, making ordinary people feel that they risk getting pilloried or spied out (or blackmailed) by the good ones for their desires. A neo-Victorian law for the cyber age.

people will just go to places like reddit that isn't affected by the law and get all the porn they want from there. So the law is just pointless and stupid. If they think kids today don't know about this or how to fake their IP these days then they are sadly mistaken. All it will do is cause some inconvenience to those that don't know their way around a computer, which isn't the target group. Since teenagers have grown up around computers they know quite a bit about them.

They have a case, but seem to have gone about it in a spectacularly annoying and hypocritical way, with the middle-class presenters, who don't take on polluters like China, glueing themselves to trains, preventing environmentally friendlier public transport from operating, and also glueing themselves to the fence by Jeremy Corbyn's home, causing aggravation to his family and his neighbours, even though he has more sympathetic than most to their cause.

Couldn't agree more, and I feel somewhat ashamed of seeing Ms Greta Thunberg's simplistic and fear-mongering activities in the news, and the uncritical adulation she's getting from some media outlets, not least here at home in Sweden. Honestly, she is doing a disservice to an important debate - and I am far from being a climate denialist, I still think she's shrill and misguided.

That this is an evangelical school in rural Indiana is telling. Too little to say there's a shift going on, but younger Christians opening up along Pence's left flank is potentially bad news for the hard right-wing evangelicals that have a stranglehold on much of government. Certainly there are other aspects of the GOP coalition, but the Pence types have run amok and not having to answer for their religious views. I'm surprised at the effect Buttigieg has had already -- a reasonable centrist Christian who is not steeped in hatred. Pence has sputtered trying to respond to him. Let's hope this continues.

Oh yeah as far as I know still discussion going on around it but for those who missed it. In a school a trans boy posted a photo of himself in the boys' restroom. A bunch of cis boys and men got angry and decided to protest by going into the girls' room. Upon entering a cis girl kicked the first boy in the groin, then they left. She as immediately indefinitely expelled for doing this.
