A Beast I Am, Lest A Beast I Become.

The year is 1999, and rhe Blood is life. You died within the past ten years, and you have returned as the Damned, descended from the first vampire, Caine. You reside in Los Angeles, the city of angels, though it's been a long time since anyone mistook you for something so divine. The city is at turning point: the Kindred of the Camarilla are at a stalemate with the Anarchs, and tensions are running high. Distinct sections of LA are claimed by the Camarilla, represented by the rule of Prince LaCroix, and other areas have been claimed by the Anarchs, who are only nominally lead by Nines Rodriguez. The necromancers--the Giovanni family--have even laid their own claims. Independents who want nothing to do with any side run rampant, and foul rumors of flesh-warped monsters haunting the sewers give truth to the claim that the monstrous faction known as the Sabbat have gained a foothold.

But there is one little out of the way neighborhood--a few streets, really--that are a frightfully good place for any Kindred to reside, and a group of vampires (our player characters) have moved in and laid claim to it!

Understandably, this is interesting, threatening, and promising to every faction, who wish to get the Kindred of the little domain under their influence!

Your PCs will work together to undertake quests, fulfill their own personal goals, and whether they side with a faction formally or whether they remain a group of disparates of varying allegiances who banded together for safety is up to you!

Los Angeles could be yours if your Kindred are willing to seize it!

See the world building thread for more information!

This game is based strongly off of the videogame! This game will go in the Extreme Small Groups section. One major difference is that we will use the 20th anniversary edition rule set, which is a lot smoother than the videogame's system.

I am accepting between six to eight players, potentially! A couple of folks expressed interest before the interest check went live, so I've opted to reserve spots for them, but that leaves about six other slots open. :) (Edit: Another player has joined the reserve-spot list, as they submitted a strong concept to me privately and are someone I know is a solid player)

Please post here if you are interested! Feel free to ask questions if you have them. (If you're curious about me at all and whether I'd be a compatible writer/GM, check out my O/Os!

Love And Submission

VTM:B is the actual reason I started playing TTRPGs so I feel like I have to sign up for this.

My first campaign was New York By Night after I beat V:TMB with every clan except the Toreadors I think. Silly toreadors.

I mean, really.  How could I stay away?    Plus I just fired up Bloodlines again for the first time in it feels like forever, so you know...totes karma and shit.

Pleased to see interest!

My intention is to allow a good week or so for people to have time to think of a character and make said characters (I feel that ensures I have time to answer people's questions, too), and once submissions are in, I'll be selecting who is playing alongside the two reserved/pre-approved players. :)

RedPhoenix

\(^vv^)/

Will be working on my character in the next few days! So hype!

VtM always gets me, and I don't think I've ever actually joined a Bly run game yet. Count me curiously interested! Are you going for a mix of clans or really just anything goes (from within the list)?

If it's on the 'playable Clans' list, then it's fair game to select!  :-)

Kayrax

VtM games are something which a bunch of people enjoy so I'd like to quickly plant a very interested flag here before the competition gets too cutthroat.

Note: Updated the original post with one small tidbit of important information that I feel is important enough to highlight, but I'm noting it here, too! The game's IC year will be 1999; please be mindful as you create a character to submit for the interest check about the differences between 1999 and now! You might not think there's a lot of differences between then and now, but you'd be surprised how much 21 years changes things!  ;D

SilkenVenom

Yep. I'm interested. Though I have no idea what to play currently.

Quick question though: are you expecting everyone to have a different clan, or are multiple of the same clan allowed?

Also, I'm just going to put there here, because I have no shame.

Blythe

Multiples of the same Clan are perfectly fine!

For the record, one person expressed interest in a Toreador, two in Ventrue, one in Brujah, if anyone's curious at the current breakdown of noted interest here & in PMs. That's not a hard and fast "this is what people are sticking with" list, it's just what's been bounced around so far.

Hades

Once I get home from work and not trying to type on my phone (because big fingers make that so much fun) I'll start working up a few ideas.  Tremere is where I'm thinking of going at the moment, but Giovanni and Gangrel are possibilities too.

Geeklet

Think I am finally gonna pull the trigger on the Toreador Pro Wrestler idea I have had for a while. I do have a few questions about some possible interactions in my backstory with a few NPCs, so expect a PM soon, Bly. <3

A Tremere sounds pretty useful--there's a lot of possible plot elements for Tremere this time around  ;D (unlike my other games where I was mildly kind of a lot extremely Tremere-phobic <_< )

Sounds neat, and looking forward to it!

As a note to folks, feel free to share your character ideas in here or brainstorming. Seeing if people have meshing concepts (with some intertwined bit of backstory), good OOC syngery, interesting twists, etc., is something that will help assist me in knowing who to select for my player roster.

Asking questions here is also a bit more helpful for me, GM-wise, as I can promise if you have a question, someone else probably had a similar thought, so being able to answer them in-thread rather than a PM is handy for me and other interested parties. :)

Rummy Tum Tum

Speaking of sharing character ideas AND speaking of Tremere, I'm planning for my character to be LaCroix's insolent (secretly traitorous) childe and he definitely has room for Tremere plot stuff.

I mean, it's kind of like Jello.   There's always room for more plotting in a Vampire game, especially in a Camarilla game.  And having someone to handle the political side of things while my Tremere focuses on mastering Thaumaturgy, could be quite useful.   If nothing else, it provides a useful meatshield (that comes with Fortitude even, so win-win!) :D

Is not exactly a Camarilla game; I would say this game is better described as "disparate PCs of various allegiances who agree on one thing: they want to keep their shared domain together and like being in charge of it themselves." And should be willing to work together to that effect, bargaining, sabotaging, allying, fighting, or seducing Camarilla members, Anarch members, Sabbat members, or Independents who might threaten their domain.  ;D

But oh yes, there should be lots of room for plotting. ^^
