Ninety percent of all these lives lost was preventable and he was more caring about the election year and the economy of America during that year. I'm left close to tears with this document because in my cynical mindset, I know theres going to be no memorial for these people nor any form of accountability where it matters most. And Im one of the luckiest people because my family and those I care about still exist. I cannot imagine how I would feel right now if any of them were gone and this man manages to get away with it.

I want this echoed across all of the US. This man was more interested in the position of power than doing his job. Hold him accountable.

I think this is the underlying truth here.  ^^^^^

Agree, but CNN aso cited sources close to Trump's inner circle who said that he does realize he lost the election, but he plainly wants to give a fat payback to the Dems and the "lame news media" for having attempted to de-legitimize his own win in 2016. And to get that, in his downfall, he is ready to bring more havoc and misery to ordinary Americans (by prolonging the pandemic, etc) and to damage trust in US elections.

Sadly, this sounds very credible - he is just that kind of petty, vindictive kid, even at the age of seventy-five.

I hope someone in the GOP leadership sees sense and kills this faithless electors thing dead.

It would be the death of this country.

Last night's bizarre press event with Giuliani and Powell has to rank as the moment when the Trump camp finally went full QBananon. Giulaini & Trump are positing a global conspiracy involving everyone from Xi Jinping to two Venezolan presidents one alive and one dead, plus the Democrat top brass, to overthrow Trump. It's more magnificent than anything in the golden days of McCarthyism, but evidence is still glaringly missing - of course.

And Trump clearly expects the senates of Georgia, Pennsylvania and Michigan and/or Wisconsin to defy the actual vote results in those states and hand him a "win" for them on a silver platter. Wow. If Trump doesn't manage to stay in office, can he be put on trial for this outlandish attempt next year?

In any case, Trump's conduct over the last two months, leading up to this, shows IMO that the Congress Democrats were morally right to impeach him, even though eveyone knew that the chance of success was slim. (They were also right in their actual accusations of him over the Ukraine affair, but that's been clear for some time.)

I wonder if Trump realises, or even cares, what his behavior is doing to America's image worldwide? He doesn't exactly have much credibility anyway, but this is destroying it entirely.

He’s a narcissistic sociopath.  Do you think he cares about anything/one besides himself?  He thinks he’s smarter than anyone else and he can get away with anything.

And he still has fans worshiping him like a fucking god. So why would he care?

I am not sure what 2020 will be remembered for most, COVID or this insane shitshow. People now, 150 years later talk about the corruption of the Grant presidency as being exceptional and will discuss Nixon until the sun expands to consume our planet but people will be talking about this man until the end of time. His presidency will probably become a staple in political and sociological history classes for ever.

A lot of humans want to be remembered after they pass but surely no-one would want to be remembered in the way Trump will be. You would have to be as morally corrupt and dysfunctional as him to want that and the only other type of human being I can fit into that category are serial killers.

Maybe we could have a Quote of the Year competition? I'd like to submit:

"Your question is fundamentally flawed when you're asking 'where's the evidence.' "  ~ Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis.

The word "lawyer" should always have quotation marks around it when referring to this legal team.

This feels like something Lionel Hutz would say.

“Well, your honour, we have plenty of conjecture and hearsay. Those are kinds of evidence.”

Ga. certifies Biden as state’s presidential vote winner; president-elect to meet with top Democrats

https://www.washingtonpost.com/elections/2020/11/20/joe-biden-trump-transition-live-updates/?

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) announced Friday that President-elect Joe Biden had won the state by more than 12,000 votes after a hand count of all 5 million ballots. The certified results will be submitted to Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who has until Saturday afternoon to accept them.

The Trump campaign has until Tuesday evening to request another recount of the results, which would launch a process to re-scan the ballots that were re-counted by hand.

Haibane

How many recounts are allowed? I hope just the statutory one due to a close margin plus one from either party - and I assume (and hope) this will cost Trump more money.

He doesn’t care.. he’s making bank on the recount money requests he’s sending to his suckers..Er supporters.. something like 3/5ths of the donations go to his campaign

Pretty much as many as can be justified with a good reason. A close count was considered one good reason. He can’t request recounts willy-nilly, at least on paper, but if he can find good reasons he can have as many recounts as he wants.

And the fund is even worse than that. Supposedly all the money is going for recount efforts, but if you read the fine print you discover that if someone donates but the donation was less than $8000 he can just pocket the money.

I'm expecting that the Trump 'administration' will have its own high-level (300 or 400 at least) college course.  Possibly one of those interdisciplinary seminar things.  (History/Psychology)

Again, wow!

So much winning. We're winning so much, we're sick and tired of winning. We're going to say "please Mr. President, no more winning," but then wake up tomorrow to find Biden has won again.

Just came across this:

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/11/do-trumps-lawyers-know-what-they-are-doing.php

Short version:  No.

Longer version:  All of the towns that they're referring to in their court documents asserting voter fraud in MICHIGAN are towns in MINNESOTA.

LOL, I am actually laughing at this ineptitude.

Then of course Trump's lawyers may well have exposed massive Republican voter fraud in the very red state of Minnesota. If that really was the case this would be doubly hilarious and damning. I doubt it could be that awesome though.

Even so, case thrown out is the least that can happen here.

Given the fast approaching deadlines it would be good if judges would sit on things for, oh, 48-96 hours before throwing cases out, just to turn up the pressure on Trump's "elite team" to do their jobs properly and stop wasting everyone's time.

Haibane

Even so, this is still worrying; this man has no limits of conscience:

I jumped at that too when I saw it on the news last night.  ::) But "Will you just shut up, man?" is also a keeper.  :P

And yes, the corona pandemic and the US election (from Iowa to the EC or whatever) clearly are THE two leading news stories of the year. Nothing else comes close in weight, in attention, or will come close historically.
