In a move that has me scratching my head...

The IRS has hired Equifax to provide fraud protection services.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong?!

With Theresa May set to deliver an important keynote speech at the Tory party conference, and reassert herself as leader, everything went miserably wrong. May coughed hard and lost her voice on repeat, letters fell off the tagline next to her speaking lectern as she finished the speech - and worst of all, a stand-up comic played a prank on her and handed her a P45 form, on camera, as she was getting into the reading. This form, in the UK, effectively means "Your job position is ending - please send us info on your economic istuation". ;) With May in a shaky position, that really pierced her (and put a big question mark at the security of the venue - the man came within handshake distance to her, Boris Johnson and two more of the key cabinet people: what if he had been a terrorist?)

I just wish someone had played that stunt ("U R Fired!") on Trump instead. :D

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Cam Newton decided it was "funny" to hear a female reporter using common football terminology.  :-\

It would seem that the USA is not any more enlightened than Saudi Arabia, for they have decided to oppose a UN resolution which aimed to prevent the death penalty being used against the LGBTQ community (together with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, etc.): https://www.truthdig.com/articles/u-s-opposes-u-n-resolution-death-penalty-lgbt-people/

Still I feel this could have been handled better.

QuoteA Canadian province is tabling legislation that would make it illegal to protest outside abortion clinics.

Good, feel free to protest but seriously these women are in most cases not doing this lightly and don't need your shit. Especially when the protesters spit and throws things. That is just fucking disgusting and not uncommon.

Thirty years after Chernobyl, Sweden and Germany have firmly radioactive wild boars (so do Ukraine and Russia, no doubt, but there are no published statistics from those countries). There was a flurry of articles in the Swedish media today about how radiation fallout had been lodged in the forest soils of northern and central Sweden and ends up in high concentrations in those boars digging into the earth all the time. This country was straight in the wind direction of the radicoactive wave spreading from the doomed reactor at Chernobyl in 1986, indeed the first public alarms that something strange was afoot came from observations near a nuclear plant in Sweden. It was soon clear that the origin of the wave was somewhere in then Soviet territory.

The major radiation scare eventually passed but the remains are still in the soil. So, some boars have up to ten times the limit value of radiation of meat that would be fit for human consumption. (Wild berries, mushroom etc are not dangerous - they are set too low on the nutrition/predation ladder).

Can't find any pieces in English about this recent Swedish alert, here's one from Germany though, where the same problem was noted three years ago:

It happened in Israel? Maybe Palestinians trying to raise awareness to their suffering? I know during the Ice Bucket Challenge, people in Palastine tried to launch the rubble bucket challenge in an attempt to raise awareness to the destruction of their settlements had endured, so maybe this something similar. Though the article doesn't mention the perpetrators race, which you'd think they would if they weren't Jewish.

Those who committed the Bataclan in France claimed it was (also) about what the French were doing in Syria and Africa. But people will not be listening if you shoot civilians, or target children.

In the absolute height of hypocrisy news:

Hahaa they should never be allowed to forget it. It should be rubbed in their face constantly. I have no pity for hypocrites.

Also in other news 66 protesters arrested in Anti Putin protests in Russia.
