Lustful Bride

Anytime someone from the Right Wing tries to accuse the Left of being anti-Semitic for questioning or having issue with the Israeli government, be sure to hold this right up to their faces and tell them the GOP proudly has fundraising dinners with open racists that call for genocide and deny the holocaust.

Yeah sorry not enough to convince me on that statement as the left is still the far more guilty party in this case.

Skynet

You earlier in this thread said that the left was far more guilty, then you moved the goalposts to 'both sides.' In an earlier post in this subforum you agreed with me and acknowledged that the GOP has been thoroughly compromised by white supremacists, so unless you forgot that one this post comes off as one being made in bad faith. Even earlier today, you've been making. You've also had the habit of lowkey trying to defend the Trump administration, the GOP, and his supporters, even in a post on this subforum today. A man who told the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by, not to mention the 5 years' worth of other such statements that have been covered extensively here and international news.

Lustful Bride's statement was also talking about Holocaust deniers, which you also claimed that the Left had as much as right-wingers. And while there are liberal and leftist anti-Semites, the vast majority of people who go that far in the United States and Western countries are Neo-Nazis. An ideology which places itself squarely on the Right and in opposition to all forms of leftism, liberalism, and egalitarianism. Those kinds of people aren't voting Democrat or espousing Marxism, and there's a very clear reason why that is.

The ADL resource acknowledged that anti-Semitism can come from anywhere, but it didn't say what you alleged: that Leftists (an extremely broad umbrella) are just as folly to this as the GOP (an explicitly fascist party) is.

Skynet... I read my post you linked too over and over and I don't see anywhere that I agreed to the fact that the GOP has been compromised by white supermacists. Because at the time I was reading your post as though you where talking about the American people who vote for the GOP as being your target. That was what my replies reflected because I didn't understand what you meant at that time.

I went no further down the rabbit hole of talking about the political leaders and making agreements there from what I can see. Maybe I didn't read far enough ahead... so I am not sure exactly what line of text you speak of.

On the matter of if I did actually agree with you Skynet and I missed the post... then yeah... I forgot.

Also Skynet I don't understand the point of your second link...?

You asked for citations. I gave them. Maybe the right is more guilty of it than the left in western countries with Neo-Nazism, but that doesn't mean the left isn't guilty as well as you pointed out. However most people who post here are going to bring up what the alt-right is up to. I was just trying to make sure we didn't turn into to much of an echo chamber(Only way I could think to describe it) around here. Hope I didn't do anything wrong, sorry if I did.

You say that the left is 'far more guilty'.  Could you provide me with the name of a Holocaust denier and genocide advocate that is being held up by the 'left'?  Just one.  If there's demonizing to be done, I want to be sure that it's properly doled out to those who deserve it.

Alright after reading around I can say that the words 'more guilty' was a little much and showed a lack of education on the subject. Though I think information in this article does show the kind of things I get annoyed with I guess.

Can you explain what specifically annoys you in this article?

Because what this article is showing are members of the left being willing to hold other members of the left accountable if they view their statements as damaging or anti-Semitic.

The right does not generally hold their own members as accountable for their actions and statements as the left typically holds their own.

It's a far cry from your statement here, where you say the left is 'more guilty.'

For the record, I am not particularly trying to attack your views, but I am trying to understand what exact position you are coming from when you are making posts like this.

When I made it was simply what I believed at the time I made that post because I had never done more than surface research or simply listening to the news in the background while I do stuff around the house. The article that I posted, while showing that left is holding their people accountable. I normally only hear about things like the anti-Semitic views that people accuse the left of having as those talked about in the article.

When I watch the news usually the bad things that these people the article talks about gets pointed out a lot among other things. So in a way I don't end up hearing that much about what the alt-right is up to in the negative light you guys express it.

As for the post itself it was probably a bit of a knee-jerk post on my part and could have used the citation. So I will admit Blythe I was being lazy and I apologize for that. I have been trying to do better about linking my opinions with articles for context.  :-\

Ah, I see. It sounds like some of how you are getting your information day-to-day might be due to some slanted news sources, then? Stuff with a clear bias, probably more right-leaning. Happens to everyone at some point (left or right, really), and it can be important to mix it up a bit so you aren't left getting a very one-sided view of things. Slanting too far in one direction can make it a lot harder to see facts more clearly, and that generally turns into something quite problematic.

Thank you for your reply though, particularly the apology about the sourcing. :)

Yeah I don't have cable so it is just what's on Youtube via X-box in the back ground. I find the independent new channels there to be a bit more trust worthy than large corporate ones. However the only ones I have ever known and enjoyed because they made me laugh do probably have a bit of right-leaning basis... though in one case a centrist view point, but I digress...

Any recommendations on some left-leaning youtubers who do a good job with their coverage would be very helpful indeed. Trying to stay as balanced as I can to avoid a rabbit hole like you say.  Sorry if this was a bad place to ask for that or not the right place... I just wanted given the moment felt as a prefect follow up.

That actually makes me curious to see how people choose their news/information outlets, and why. That would warrant a separate thread most likely, though...

It looked like a useful thing for people to share.

There's been several days of very grim news about lethal high temperatures in western Canada and the NW USA. Over 120 people dead so far. This is terrible.

Bill Cosby released from prison after his conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Looks like it was a fuck up on the courts part in this case at least according to the article that ended up getting his conviction overturned. Well... that sucks...

Great! This is a reversal of policy, and if they enshrined the their rights into official military doctrine and policy it cannot be easily undone. Wait.....

QuoteThe directive, outlined in a memo, mandates a soldier's gender identity can no longer bar him or her from service, be the cause for involuntary separation, or be a basis for discrimination, Maj. Gen. Douglas Stitt said in a Friday press conference. If a soldier is diagnosed with gender dysphoria, medical personnel will be authorized to facilitate transition surgeries so that soldiers may have access to showers and bathrooms aligning with their self-identified gender.

This is a memo that undoes an executive order...... So yes when the next Republican comes in it can be reversed with the stroke of a pen, and throw these soldier's lives into turmoil. Making policy by executive order, no matter if you agree with it or not, is BAD. It is cheap, lazy, and should not really be celebrated. It should be criticized because you have changed nothing, but a symptom, while the underlying illness is still there.

And the way I understand it not all Transgender people have gender dysphoria.
