These are reasonable takes from someone with that handle. :)
Shoot, you're right, I should be yelling about how the state of Louisiana is a socialist conspiracy.

Extremely strange tweet from a woman involved with the team behind the "Trump March", a mass event planned for Washington on January 6 to try to pressure Congress into turning full back, trashing the vote result and hand Trump another period (not gonna happen, guys...).  Is she actually saying that Trump's base of long-term fans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020, and who have held on to him no matter what, is very slim??  ::)

(Amy Kremer, whom she is high-fiving as a friend, is one of the key people behind the Trump March, so Pierson really isn't just some nobody)

socialist conspiracy.
Pretty sure those two words do not and cannot go together.

(this is humour btw)

Actual Trump lawyer Lin Wood is ramping up this burgeoning conspiracy theory to seditious death threats already.

I think I lost some brain cells reading that.

I keep wondering at what point some of these people - Trump, Powell, Wood, Bannon or some of their loyal suporters - are going to cross the fluid border into actual sedition, which of course is a serious crime punishable by many years in jail.

The lunatics really have taken over the asylum. I mean really they have.

Once upon a time this stuff was just the daft dribblings of inane people when it went around the internet sourced by nobodies but when an influential legal commentator spouts it, it is finally time to call and end to it and begin slapping people down with the full weight of the law.

Haibane

Congress overrides Trump's veto of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Lovely to see Trumpy getting slapped about by more mature and understanding people.

I don't know when reading that series of tweets it just screamed out to me 'Someone has got to be trolling here'. That is especially true of that last post, which sounded like an over blown troll remark to what was above it.

Haibane

I don't think it is. Unless Lin Woods account has been hacked, he really has gone off the edge into conspiracyinsanityworld. Arguing to put the Vice President of the USA up against a wall and shoot him? Hm. Where does ones professional career go from there?

Dhi

Grown adults don't get a "just trolling" card. You fuck around with talk of executing the VP, you find out. It's a certainty that Lin Wood is now being monitored by federal agencies for these tweets. This is specifically not protected by freedom of speech.

Of course Lin Wood has no intention of following through on his fantasy scenario. The intention is that in a population of 300 million, some mentally ill person will follow through for them. All of the Trump officials bolstering this conspiracy theory are dog whistling until they're red in the face hoping that someone mentally unhinged will rescue them from defeat with an act of terrorism.

This is a threat against the Vice President of the Unite States. I think that Mr. Wood needs to suffer the consequences of his actions.

Sadly, the Justice Department's balls are still on back-order, and won't arrive until January 20th. By then it'll be too late, if it matters at all.

If he directed this towards VP Elect Harris perhaps, but towards Trump’s dog?better odds that there will be consequences

Secret Service is under Treasury, so would Treasury be looking into threats against the VP? In any case, I doubt Mnuchin would give a shit. Threatening violence has been normalized for the right-wing, even against their own.

Ech, looked up -- they're under Homeland Security now, which is just as grabass and slapdick as the rest of the feds right now.

The only reason they were under 'Treasury' is that they were initially concerned with investigating counterfeit currency.  In 1865, an estimated one-third of the US Currency in circulation was counterfeit.  Their mission to protect the President, Vice President, and the -elects for those offices was solidified in 1901, with the assassination of McKinley.

Yes, they changed in 2003 to go under the Department of Homeland Security, which makes their scandals and bad behavior make more sense, given how inept, clueless and corrupt that agency is.

I find myself inexplicably disappointed that the Secret Service is no longer a Treasury subdivision. Always felt that it was a neat, odd little quirk of our governmental history.

The homes of Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell have been vandalized, walls smeared with pig's blood and graffiti scrawled out, too. The origin of the two attacks seems to relate to the stalemate over the covid cash checks. Scrawlings on McConnell's front door read "Where's my Money?",  while those on Pelosi's walls "included the phrases “$2K,” “Cancel rent!” and “We want everything,” "

At first sight I thought some of this came from Trump diehards believing in a "stolen election" - seems it isn't, but it's still a dangerous indication of the mounting loss of belief in the political system, and for this, Trump and Mitch are among the most responsible. This is just shocking.

I've sometimes thought political action has been limited in the United States due to how sprawling the country is and how relatively remote D.C. is to most people -- heck, even state capitals are remote to many people. It's extraordinarily likely that any given citizen will never in their lives meet, much less physically see, any of their leaders. I've wondered how this remoteness has impacted the sense of 'danger' and accountability our political class feels.

Not to advocate for such things. What seems new in this era is that people are starting to locate and protest at politicians' houses. Vandalization is a next, remarkable step.

Here's your controversial statement for the day. Mitch McConnell the Senator that represents the area I live.

And sadly the Great Obstructionist will continue to do so till the day he drops dead.

Bibliophilia

In before there's outcry over the vandalism from the same people who were so upset about the property damage during the BLM protests.

Bibliophilia

I'm sorry, I misspoke.  I mean more that those same people would be in support of the vandalism, not opposed.

TheVillain

Several investigations have found that *most* of the violence and destruction being associated with the BLM/Antifa Protests/Riots were actually caused by Trump fans. Exact percentage is hard to pin down obviously, but the usual conclusion is "definitely more than half, possibly as high as 80%".

Research in links between the current "Biden and the Dems Cheated In the Election" crowd and the previous "Obama Wasn't Born in the US" crowd suggests that at least half of the people claiming that Biden and the Democrats committed wide-scale vote fraud don't actually believe it, they just have so little regard for the rights of non-Republicans that they don't care if it's true or not, they're fine with their side staying in power even if it means installing a Dictator.
