Oh hey! It took me a second to find this thread, haha. I would like to give a warm hello to everybody! Or, well, maybe a friendly cold one. I'm a winter night owl type is all.

I'm seeing a lot of fascinating threads in the Elliquiy U section and I'm excited to read them!

Does anyone have suggestions for interesting threads (in or out of character) I could read up on?

I found that while it is now no longer running this group game has so much fun in it.

Same, honestly.  I've been juggling writing and social media most of the evening.  It's been enjoyable, though.  Time just goes by too fast when I'm multitasking.

Sara Nilsson

Well I got two posts done at least. And a few missions in deep rock galactic. And, watched some sc2.. and...

my brain was all over the place

Fact: Sudan has more pyramids than any country in the world

Not only does Sudan have more pyramids than Egypt, but the numbers aren’t even close. While 138 pyramids have been discovered in Egypt, Sudan boasts around 255.

Welcome to E new peeps :) and good luck with the approval:D

Hope everyone is doing great

Oh, that is interesting. Looking at Wikipedia, it seems that the nubian kingdoms in the area started building their own pyramids about 1000 years after the egyptians stopped building theirs? The timescales of the ancient era are incredible. The egyptian pyramids were already ancient by the time the nubians started building theirs - it's all mind-boggling.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Sara Nilsson

It is mind boggling isn't it? It is easy to think a lot of the ancient era happened rather simultaneous. But.. yeah not so much :)

Personally, I find it interesting just how fast the rate of change was in the immediately previous millennium. A lot did happen in the ancient world, but the time scales are just so much greater, one has to wonder if the current age is just the wonders of exponential growth or just an anomaly a couple centuries in the making.

Facets

It's an interesting question, especially in the context of worldbuilding. I think the spirit of innovation has always been present in humanity, but the question remains of which factors actually drive the kind of world-changing innovations we've observed in the last two hundred years. In my mind, two significant factors are scientific traditions and methods built up over generations and, perhaps surprisingly, materials science as a concrete branch of science that plays a massive role in enabling other innovations.

But I'm not a sociologist or a historian, so that's just idle speculation.
