Hello everyone! I'm really excited to hopefully see what this community has to offer! <3
Wishing everyone good luck on their approval process!!

I have a fun question to ask whoever would like to reply; If you had the opportunity to go to space alone, would you take it? Why or why not?

Personally... I would! Being alone isn't something that seems to frighten me, yet at the same time I wonder how I'd feel that far removed from humanity...

RenFaireRosie

Hello all! Great to meet everyone!

Lamented that's a great question...As much as the idea horrifies me, I think it would be really valuable. Not only would it be good to get used to being by myself but I wonder how much perspective I would gain after seeing how small we really are in the universe.

James Clerksin

Hi everyone!

To answer Lamented's question as well, I think I probably would too if nothing else so I could see what the Earth really looked like from space in person. I know you can look at pictures and simulations but I can't imagine they truly do it justice.

Hey! Thanks for the approval, I'm looking forwards to playing with you all!

I have a quick question - I was told to expect a PM from an oracle, how soon should I expect that? No urgency, just meaning to check.

If you haven't received it, you could always give an oracle a gentle nudge. Here's a list of those you can contact if needed.

I've got it now, thank you! Arcane and forbidden knowledge is mine and mine alone!

Flower

Wonderful! 😊 And be careful with that magic...it can be unstable at times.

Did anything fun happen for folks this snowy hump day?

Sara Nilsson

You had snow?

Lucky! Just sunshine and mild weather here :(

Mm, it's been really cold here. Cold enough for my dog to make his outside trips quick and to the point.

Also, hey ash! ^^

If one thinks of omniscience as causal rather than predictive- not 'THIS!', but 'If this, then that; infinite matrices of infinite dimensions each- it goes a long way towards reconciliation with Free Will.

It does not, however, make it easier to contemplate or accept a being capable of visualizing such an array.

Hihi everyone! I hope everyone's approvals go well, I've chatted a teeny bit in the shoutbox but thought I'd pop in to say hello in here as well.

Also small question about "Word of the day", I'm assuming it's okay to answer yesterday's WOTD since today's WOTD (as of today) hasn't been posted yet right? I saw the word/prompt and kinda got a bit of inspo for a character I'm currently trying to develop, but I noticed it was posted yesterday and today's WOTD hasn't been posted yet as of writing this.

Hey there. Any words posted this year are okay to post. You can always ask in this thread and the two that run the WotD challenge can answer any questions you have about it.

Hello roleplayers and writers!

I am so glad I have come to this forum. I have read some of the posts in what is available for now for me to read, and I feel like I finally found a nice play for roleplaying.

Thought it would be nice to share a little about the path I followed until I discovered text-based free-form roleplaying.

I was always an avid reader. Mostly fiction, science books, history and poetry. I found a book of short erotic stories, and found out that I loved it too. I loved videogames too, specially those with a story. I remember the first one like that, that I played was called Kyrandia, and then The Day of the Tentacle. I didn't know about roleplaying games except from what can be seen in the scenes in some movies, I specially remember the one in ET.

Then I got to start studying at a university, and there was a week in which each student's club had a stand in an area for conventions, and there was the roleplaying club. I roleplayed a one-shot demo they were running, with pre-made characters, and I loved it. One year after that, when I was more usted to the dynamics of the university, I went to the club and registered. There I had the opportunity to play many things other than Dungeons & Dragons, like some of the Whitewolf settings (Vampire The Maskared and Dark Ages, Wherewolf, Mage, and Exhalted), a d6 system to play Starwars, among other less known systems like Fuzion and SAGA System (used for Dragonlance 5th Age and Marvel Super-heroes).

For me roleplaying was only tabletope roleplaying, ... well... and also the therapy technique with the same name, and the videogames that are called RPG too (right now playing Skyrim and Guildwars 2, Witcher 3 is on my list).

So this brought me to the days of the pandemic, and I went into some forums, and I was chatting with someone about medieval fantasy, and this person asked me if I liked ERP, and it was confusing for me, as ERP for me... was Enterprise Resource Systems (like SAP). I told her that yes... and asked if she meant that kind of software. The person laughed and told me that it meant roleplaying, and I said excitedly that yeah... I liked it. I was then surprised a second time when she asked me what were my 'kinks' and if I had any limits or triggers.

What? (insert here meme of confused guy)

I then asked what she meant, assuming it was a typo, and that's when I knew that ERP, as well as simply text-based free-form RP was a thing. I am in a committed relationship, and wasn't sure if my partner would consider this being beyond the limits, and then I started doing both RP and ERP. I have at least 3 friends now, thanks to this new hobby.

I have been, however annoyed by how many people assume that roleplaying is always a proxy for dating, or don't seem to understand there is a difference between sexting with a real person and roleplaying. Fortunately, I have found nice people that is also interested in stories, world-building, and keeping a friendly and respectful attitude in OOC. However, my experience with kik, discord, reddit has been frustrating, as the quantity of people that confuses concepts, and disregards any notion of talking about consent, is overwhelming.

Well, I hope I didn't make my story-time too boring!

Best wishes for everyone today,

Percival
