Good evening / afternoon / morning, May! Thanks for your interest! Let's get down to business ;)

NAME: John Smith

Really? :P :P Might as well have called him "Average Joe McNormal." :P

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMAble to change his shape into that of any other human he has sampled by skin contact or other absorption of the DNA of the subject. Able to absorb samples for this process through skin contact. The process only works with other human subjects and only copies the body, not any powers, skills or other abilities not solely based on that individuals physicality. The process works within a few seconds but uses some good degree of 'energy' to complete and tends to leave John quite hungry. He takes on all physical characteristics of the individual copied that is stored in their DNA, so fingerprints and retinal scans would be easily fooled by him, however he doesn't copy any scars, tattoos or any implanted technology. Additionally if a subject being copied is short sighted or otherwise impaired from birth then John inherits that defect when he copies someone.

Ok, so this will have to be specified a little.

1) By "within a few seconds," how long precisely does it take to incorporate their DNA? Does it take longer the more different they are? EG, if he shakes the hand of another white male with the same hair and eyes as him, will it take less time than if he was absorbing the DNA of a small black woman? Or is it "One Size Fits All?" Further, I assume this is his Mastery Level? What kind of absorption time are we talking about for Day One, which this is? As in, he literally got his powers yesterday.

2) It says that he takes on the physical characteristics that are present genetically. Does this mean that if the individual in question has a genetic disease, or a mental handicap, he takes that on as well? Since a lot of those are at least partly genetic. Or is it JUST the appearance? The superficial similarities, as it were? Would he be able to perfectly mimic behavior, or would he need to practice that?

3) If he takes on the body of a shape he's unused to (EG, if he were hypothetically a five foot something woman, and she suddenly shapeshifts into Dwayne Johnson) would there be a learning curve with the new strength and size? Or would he know how to handle it instinctively?

4) How long does it take to shapeshift? Does it take a matter of moments, or several minutes? How long does his shapeshift last? Is there any time limit to this?

5) When he's taken the genetic information of somebody, can he now shapeshift into that person whenever he wants? Or can he only hold a certain amount of DNA information at one time (EG, he has three in reserve, and to get a new one, he has to "Forget" one)? Or is any sample only good for one shapeshift?

6) Ok, so it makes him hungry. What other drawbacks are there to his power?

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMCHARACTER FLAW: Shifting form makes John hungry, shifting repeatedly makes him ravenous and extremely tired and badly dehydrated.

Ok, but what's his personal flaw? What kind of personality foibles does he have?

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMThey stayed there for a few years, until the company that John's father was working for folded due to mismanagement on the part of the CEO. The family found themselves uprooted once again and moving to the US. They wound up a rather nice house with a few acres of land in New York State.

...how? I mean, don't get me wrong, but nothing in the history suggested that his father managed to put away a decent amount of money, and land isn't exactly cheap, y'know. A few ACRES of land? That's...a fairly big chunk of land for somebody with not a lot of money, unless my knowledge of the American housing market is failing me. >.>

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMJohn was placed at Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson High School where he was to finish out the last year of his North American high school education.

No. Sorry, but as it says in the opening post, every character needs to have been at Malcolm Wheeler High for AT LEAST a year. :-)

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMdoesn't really readily 'fit in' with any cliques and tends to move between them.

Well, there aren't really many cliques at all, but bear in mind that he will have to fit in with SOMEBODY, otherwise you will find making connections very challenging.

Quote from: mayovagn on August 19, 2017, 04:02:14 PMHe retains a good amount of his 'brit' accent, with a strong Scots lilt.

I know this is a nitpick, but...what type of British accent? Geordie? Scouser? Mank? Glasgow? Toff? East End? Chelsea? Cockney? Etc etc.

And that's all I have for the moment! I look forward to hearing your responses!

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

First RP I've looked at since I got accepted. :) Kinda new to trying to navigate this thing, but I have a male character in mind to throw your way. Should I just go ahead and post something up here like everyone else? I noticed other out links so I wanted to make sure before I did.

Yhup, just read the opening post; that has ALL the details you will need. It's pretty exhaustive, so sorry about the length, but any question you might have is probably answered there :P

Hello, I was recommended this game by Tokyo, so I thought I'd check it out and throw in my character idea, since the game sounds very very interesting.

I haven't decided on a power concept, but I do have ideas.

Sex: Male
Position: Student
Archetype: Depending on which power decided on, the character development would lead to either kind of nerdy, or lead to that one kid that tries to be flirty and friendly with everyone, even though he doesn't quite fit the 'popular' type.
Power Theme: Three idea paths..

1 - Power Mimicry - This would mean he'd have to not only learn how his power works and is activated, but also learn the powers of others. He would only have the powers for a short time, but has to figure out how they are controlled.

2 - Force Field - This could go from just simple self protection, to having to learn to make it big and strong enough to protect others.

3 - Reality Warping - This would be on the lower side of that ability, so he'd have to go from things that are lower scale. Like if he was near a painting of a tiger, he could warp reality and pull that tiger out of the painting, or something along those lines... Rather than being able to create things out of thin air, he'd have to have something to pull from.

Well then allow me to be the first of the Admin staff to say welcome. **Wags tail** My name is Jan, and I play Sasha the Incredible Shrinking Cheerleader. I am Vergil's second in command and most likely for this weekend the gal you'll be dealing the most with. :)

So as much as I love 2 of those 3 powers I know they're going to need either a lot of work or flat out it's not allowed. One thing we strive on is to ensure that no one has the power that is similar to another, and Power Mimicry by that very definition breaks that rule. Which honestly Mimic and Rogue are some of my favorite Marvel Mutants. But the power mimicry basically, depending on how you're thinking/defining it can graft dozens of powers to one student. I don't have to really check with Pen or Vergil on this one to know that this power is probably not going to get past the concept stage. :( I'm sorry.

Reality Warping - this is one of my all time favorite powers but again, this is a very powerful power so if we wanted to work with this you can expect that this one is going to get fairly heavily neutured. It's a possibility but you wouldn't be like Proteus. You'd probably only be able to do small shifts in reality like your picture idea. Or maybe conjuring flowers. This is going to be an iffy power and will need to be very tweaked to ensure it's not breaking the game play in later plots.

Force field is a pretty standard power and should be safe to move forward with.

And keep in mind, just because we're developing one power for your character doesn't mean you have to stick with that. Kujo and Myself went through three or four power sets before we ended up on Healing and Shrinking respectively.

My suggestion however is to look at your character idea first. We have a lot of nerdy kids. Arek, Ai, Cassie, Juniper I believe technically. What would make this character different? We have a few flirty types, Grace, Maddie, Sasha what would make them stand out?

We're not looking for social loaners because this is designed to be a team game so please take that into account.

So now that we've started with that, I personally recommend getting your character created first before assigning powers. But you're free to start on tinkering with the powers now if you like. As I said I'm pretty sure Mimicry won't make it and we shouldn't really focus on this one. I don't mean to be a buzz kill but I remember suggesting Mimicry and Photo Reflexes when Sasha first showed up and they were turned down then because they were too close to other power sets. I can assure you no one is doing Reality Warping or Force field so you're free to work with that.

The basic process, if Tokyo hasn't told you is that we will ask questions until we feel that the powers have been completely fine tuned.

If you have any questions please let me know. I'm here to help. **wags tail and grins**

Thank you Jan.  :)

I totally understand about the powers, that is why I had a couple in mind.  I figured mimicry might be out, but figured I'd toss it out there. Not like I have my heart set on it and got broken hearted. :P

So,  in powers, if prefer reality warping if possible,  but if after talking through it doesn't work, I totally understand and would be happy with force field since that can definitely be useful to teams.

So to focus on character, I need a little to fully decide.

I was thinking more of him being the kinda guy that he's actually pretty shy, and when he gets nervous or worried or excited he'll flirt.  Rather than him actually being an all around flirt. He would be kind of feminine but since he's pansexual, if someone interests him, he'd be a cheesy flirt or shy depending on the person.

Sorry,  I'm on my phone, so it is a little difficult to type as much or as detailed as I would like.

No worries about being on a phone. My carpel tunnel is kinda acting up tonight/day.

Ok, so as far as shy characters we'd want to ensure that they're not the type to sit at the back of the party and not do anything. We don't necessarily want him mixing it up all the time but we certainly want to make sure he's no wall flower. :) Shy and flirty when nervous but so long as he approaches people that should be good.

With the 2 powers we'd need to work our way through the entire process of developing the power, it's weakness and what it's maximum abilities would be.

I would recommend taking the approach of writing up the power you want, I'm guessing the Reality Alteration, and realize we're going to help you with it but the power level is supposed to be Street Level folks. Which Reality Alteration is powerful and will certainly need to be kept at a level of power that doesn't completely dwarf the others. So I would recommend writing it up with Day 1 power level, something as simple as changing the color of your clothing or something and then career end would be making paintings or statues real for maybe a few hours. And a weakness would probably be migraines and the like. Now, please keep in mind these are just my thoughts and suggestions. I'll be able to help more through the question process as I see what your vision is for your character and their power. :)

Okay I've looked at the recruitment thread for this game several times and finally decided to give it a try.

Name: Faidon Storm
Sex: Male
Position: Student
Archetype: Loner, wait let me explain. He is not a loner by choice or fear or any kind of social awkwardness. He is a loner simply because most of his peers fear him due to his family history. A situation he is not happy with. Will go into greater depth in full bio.
Power Theme: Animal Affinity: He can take on the abilities of animals, enhanced senses, or physical abilities like feline strength and agility.

PentheWonderful

Bonjour Elf! Given that our illustrious GM is currently on a flight to China and my dear friend Jan is fast asleep, I will be your welcome committee today~

Alright, so! We have quite a few loners IG already, but I suppose him being avoided due to his family history is something quite new. Does this mean he actually TRIES to socialize but people don't want anything to do with him, or does he just not try at all from knowing people fear him?

Now, as for his powers; they sound pretty good! :D Definitely has potential and still within our parameters. So, would these abilities already be inside him or would he need to "absorb" them directly from the animals? For instance, if he wants feline agility, can he just "activate" said power or would he need to actually interact with a cat in order to obtain its abilities?

Hello, thank you.

He will have spent his entire academic career at MWH so knows how people tend to react to him. So that is not an easy question to answer. He would evaluate each situation on an individual basis as whether or not he would try to get involved. If his peers could easily change their activity and avoid him he wouldn't try. If they can't and it's something he is passionate about he will try. If somebody were to just approach him out of the blue he wouldn't shy away but would be suspicious of their motives.

As for his powers I was actually thinking that they are always in him but specific to one type of animal like the feline. We could go with being able to do other animals if he interacts with different type if that works best IG. I'm thinking that he would be attuned to what ever animal he last interacted with, just tends to be feline most often as he has a pet cat.

That sounds quite similar to an already existing character IG, Dante Young, so you might want to be careful not to overlap their personalities too much. I can provide you with a link to the Active Characters Thread for reference if you'd like. :-)

Okay, so the powers already "in" him - let's say "pre-programmed" - are feline traits? But he can also mimic other animal's abilities if he happens to be in proximity to them? Or did you mean the feline abilities he has are because he's been in contact with his pet cat the most?

In addition, how would you say he can mimic other animals? Does he need to touch them directly, bond with them, or by just being around them? How does the power work?

Okay I think we need to go a little deeper into Faidon's family history.

His father is the notorious "Killer Storm" a well known fact. Storm senior got sucked into a life of crime at an early age and was never able to pull himself out of that life. He went from simple muscle for an Oriental crime syndicate to enforcer and finally one of their top killers. He is currently serving multiple life sentences in a max security federal prison because he would rat on his employers. He is known to have killed a large number of people and thought to have killed even more.

Now Faidon was a rather social child and had several friends until his father was caught and very publicly put on trial. After that the parents of the other children forbid them from spending time with him. The general fear is that he will be just like his father and be a killer. What nobody knows is that his father while good at it hated killing. He never killed children and only women if they were specifically his target and a real threat to his employers. Most of the men Storm senior killed were killers themselves.

Deep down Faidon would rather not be a loner, he just wants people to accept for who he is not judge based on his father's actions. He truly cares about other people, not just those he gets close to. He will help a total stranger simply because he can, but has come to expect to be feared as soon the person realizes who he is. It probably does not help that his father taught him martial arts and he is quite good at them. He has two real passions in his life, one the martial arts, the other is vehicles.

So far Faidon has managed to not follow his father's path and stayed away from a life of crime, though he does not always follow the rules.

A small bit of his history: Faidon hates bullies and on the first day he arrived at MWH as a freshman he saw some seniors taking another freshman into the men's room. He followed as the three older boys began to torment the younger one Faidon stepped in and put a stop to it, then walked back out and went on to his class without saying a word.

He is actually a bit arrogant because of his skill at martial arts and does not open up to others easily because he fully expects them to withdraw from him later. If he avoids attachments to prevent the pain of lose, but he is really quite lonely.

Well was thinking it is one or the other. If we go with "pre-programmed" then he would only have those traits, and I'm leaning toward feline.

If we go with having to get them from being in contact with an animal I think at least at first he would have to touch them, maybe even bond with them. This is where his pet cat would play the crucial role in determining his traits. Later as he learned to develop and control his power he could do it just by being around them.

I'm really leaning towards the "pre-programmed" for the feline traits.

Either option is fine, although I do agree that the pre-programmed feline traits will give you a much more easier time for approval; it's specific and to the point.

Alright! So, now to the body of the works. Your pre-programmed feline traits; what traits are we talking specifically? Does it manifest physically, or only internally? For instance, would his pupils become horizontal like an actual feline's when he's using feline vision? Give me the juicy details, hun. ;)

Excellent, I'm glad you don't see any problems with character over lap.

Well for simplicity lets go with the "pre-programmed" feline traits. As I said it is how I'm leaning anyway.

I am thinking that he would be able to get sight, hearing, and smell of a cat. The only physical change I can really see happening would be his eyes. Yes, they would definitely have the horizontal slits. I suppose when using the hearing his ears could grow fur and move up higher on his head giving them the multi-directional function as well as a definite feline appearance. I'm thinking the strength and agility would go hand in hand and perhaps when he does that his body grows fur. Later as he gets better control he could get claws too.

He would also pretty much always have a feline appetite, always hungry. He would definitely prefer a more meaty diet with a strong love for seafood and bird meat(chicken, turkey, duck, etc.)

This, I'm less fine with. Keep in mind that you said his powers lean more towards taking the abilities of the animals and having his senses enhanced as a result. Growing fur and having his ears moving higher up his head? That's leaning more towards transformation (something like werewolves, if you will) and gaining the enhances thanks to said transformations. The eyes I'd still be okay with, since it's quite minor, but growing fur, claws, and morphing body parts is straying a bit too far from his original concept. I was thinking more along the lines of Black Panther or Cat Noir for Faidon, but do correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm fine with only changing his eyes. It is more of what I was actually thinking from the start. The rest was just a thought that came to me as I was writing my reply.

Here's my concept.

Name: Tayler McPaelar

Sex: Male

Position: Student

Archetype: Bully. He's a big guy, towering over most others. He's smart on top of that, and enjoys finding creative ways to torment others.

Power: Evil Eye: This power is always on, and he has to wear sunglasses to contain it. The ultimate tool for intimidation, if he focuses on you, you will be immediately struck with intense fear. He can also sense fear from up to 50 feet away, and can see in the dark. This power made his eyes truly hellish looking, with a blood red cornea, pale yellow iris, and a pupil like a cat's eye.

Hello Bernado,

I can honestly say you're the first character who wants to be a bully. Which in and of itself that's not a problem. But this is a team game. It would probably be preferable if he didn't bully EVERYONE. Just you know most of the students. 😜 So we might have to tinker a bit with that.

Now as for your power to intimidate... Ooooh. He'd be a pretty good athlete with that.

So let's look into it. How long does he need to stare at you? How many at once? How badly intimidated are they? Just a glance mild cowing or on the ground crying? How far away does it take for him to smell fear? Why night vision? I will agree that it's cool but seeing in the dark doesn't seem to coorelate with fear powers to me.

He's a bully, but he's a smart guy. He's basically a junior mafia boss, if you get the saying. Think Bakugou from MHA, but less yelling, more calculating. He probably has his own gang, and acts generally like a tough guy who picks on those weaker than him, and competes with those he sees as equal. His excuse is generally "tough love hurts".

As for his power, I think it should build on itself. It gets more powerful the longer he stares at you, and he needs to stare, like death glare style stare. He can handle small groups by looking at focusing on one, then going to another, but the fear decays if he's not looking at you. His power still works trough photo and video, but as a weakness, he's not immune to his own power. It's actually most effective against himself, because his power is amplified by the fact that he's staring at his own eyes.

He sees any adrenaline trail within 50 ft of himself, and can follow it, in 90% of cases to the source, unless it's been tampered with if anyone has the know how to deal with chemical trails.

As for the ability to see in darkness, I was stretching, trying to add utility to the power. I can't think of any justification, so how about we just axe that power.

I've never seen MHA I'm very careful about the things I watch for personal reasons. My sibling informs me that the character you reference was the bully and could blow people up.

One thing you'll need to make sure is that you have a real life face to go with your character. 😊 We can give you a list of the real life people we've used when we get there.

Ok... So smart guy who's a bully... Why is he a bully? Does he have people he picks on more than others? Does he not pick on certain types?

Ok we can work with you on working.

Let's first start with the weakness. What doesn't it work on, how does one defend against it, how long does it take them to recover from it?

How long until it goes into effect? How long after you start does it ramp up to tier 2? How many tiers do you see this power having? What does this power look like at the weakest? At the strongest? Does the power work on him?

What does the trail look like? How is this different from just being amped up? Is the 50ft taking into account wind?

Found a face claim: Tony Moran, who played Michael Myers in the original Halloween.

I'll answer questions later, but I'm about to be busy. I'll have plenty of time tomorrow to answer you.

lol that is not the best of pictures for that face claim. :P But ok.

And sure, I'll do my best to answer any questions but my first priority will be to work obviously.
