The Committee tried to add her name to a censure of former U.S. Senator John Flake which passed but their rules do not allow for amendments.  The Committee is set to vote on her censure on January 23rd.

No, it doesn't. It also says the following:

The Constitution states: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." You seem to be overly fixated on the second half, while ignoring the first half, which doesn't reference enemies of the United States. The conjunction between those clauses is 'or': you can have treason without enemies which might require a declared war. You don't need to be adhering to enemies of the United States to levy war against it.

Examples are rare, since fewer than 30 people have been charged with treason in the entire history of the United States, but there's the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791-1794. Those rebels were acting on their own and not at the behest of some hostile foreign power. At the end of it, some of those people who participated in the rebellion were caught and convicted of treason under the first part of the treason definition and would have been hanged, but George Washington pardoned them. The rarity of treason charges, as I said less than 30 in the entire history of the US and none at all since World War II, will probably make such charges harder to prove in court. Something like seditious conspiracy will probably be a lot easier.

For a massive bucket of reasons, the response to the whiskey rebellion is not one we should use as the standard for literally anything, much less the standards of treason. Both convictions from it stand as "because we wanted to" rather than because of actions taken (stealing mail might be a federal offense, but it's not a treasonable one by any measure.) We gotta remember that the "founding fathers" liked to really play fast and loose with stuff when it really mattered and only had principles (like Franklin's snuffbox or Jefferson's long paeans to liberty) when it didn't matter at all.

For treason to exist today, whatever George Washington wanted, there must be a declared war. if we stuck with hte "it means whatever we want it to mean" standard set in 1794, then uhhhh hi there I'm a traitor 'cause I was part of Occupy Tacoma, string me up your honor.

Seriously, the reason US laws are such a convoluted tangle of clause and counter-clause is because of the tension of opinion of "the constitution is sacred!" versus the fact that "the people who wrote it were merchants who had nice libraries and no clue." So we have to make this spaghetti mess of US law in order to achieve a reasonable result from a compeltely flummoxed base point that, for whatever ianne reason, is seen as holy writ.

It would be considered a legal faux pas to put them through multiple trials for the same event, but not illegal. Double jeopardy only applies to being tried twice for the same charge, not the same event.

Sometimes charges are upgraded if new evidence comes in.  Arrest the person on the lesser charge that you can prove to get them off the street, and talk it over with the judge before trial.

If you have ever noticed a suspect being charged with multiple counts of murder and man slaughter you'll see an attempt to convict the actor on something depending on how much evidence they accumulate and how serious it is.  Once this rioters are charged with crimes other matters can be added to the list as more evidence is found.

This started as what was considered a spontaneous riot by supporters and as time passes and the event is analyzed in depth law enforcement is coming to the conclusion the demonstration was organized and choreographed for a higher purpose.  The investigation is looking at the possibility some of the participants were looking to possibly kidnap and/or kill some of the members of Congress based on equipment they carried and the way they were dressed.

This is only the beginning of the repercussions and not the end result.
