The words "Stable Genius" just drifted through my mind...

If there ever was any doubt about his lack of mental fitness in the past, that has all been quelled.

I was expecting somewhere in those tweets: "STRENGTH THROUGH PURITY. PURITY THROUGH FAITH. AMERICA PREVAILS!"

No typos, decent grammar usage? That's uncommon in trump's tweeting.

Considering they were all posted within like a 30 minute period that is quite telling

The tweets are getting to the point where I'm questioning if it's the leader of a country sending them out or someone dictating the aimless rambling of some seriously unstable homeless person screaming at passers-by.
they say all good boys go to heaven
but bad boys
bring heaven to you

That was 18 hours ago, now he's claiming he's invincible and will be cbck on the campaign trail soon because the democrats' dirty tricks and virus can't keep him down.

I'm really wondering if Kellyanne Conway's daughter is right about his health.

Oniya

There was a video of him on the balcony of the White House, and his breathing looked really labored.

I saw that too. I wouldn't be surprised if he forced his way out of the hospital against recommendations.

Highly likely. And he's heading back from the hospital to a home-in-office that's now become the active centre of a local viral outbreak...No doctor who felt free to make their own choices would accept that with a patient in Trump's condition.  (The head of the medical team that's been treating him is also Trump's personal physician, "the King's life medic" as they used to say in the old days, so Trump is his boss . gives Donnie some real leverage here.)

"This is getting more and more surreal for every day" I told mum yesterday.  The man sees himself as a John Wayne hero when in reality he's a sick and overspeeded guy, much weaker than he himself understands and struggling with an illness there is no definite cure for if it turns red. And he wants everybody else to see him as a great example, a hero?!  C:)

I read from a couple of doctors (on the internet, so it must be true) that the steroid drug dexamethasone being used to treat Trump is not something used on patients with mild symptoms, 'as the drug should not be given to anyone who is not ill enough to justify the downsides of taking steroids -- including that it suppresses the immune system'.

They are also saying that it would have a side effect similar to what we're seeing in Trump now. It would reduce any inflammation, and make Trump feel 'better', possibly even to the point where he would think that he's well enough to leave the hospital.  Right up until the crash.

I'm not a doctor though, so I'll leave that kind of speculation to the experts, since we're not actually getting any accurate statements from the doctors that know what's happening.

And with the way he's blathering about how good he feels and how people shouldn't be scared of COVID, it sounds like a stunt to downplay the whole COVID situation and his handling of it. Anyone sure that he actually had COVID in the first place?

There are too many people in his entourage that have also tested positive for this to be a wholesale mock-up, and the whole White House/Senate outbreak is too embarrassing for the Trump regime to be something they just staged to win sympathy. But sure, the whole situation is littered with paradoxes... :)

Here's one reliable site which has some informed speculation from the scant details that we've been seeing:

https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/science-based-medical-lessons-from-president-trumps-case-of-covid-19-thus-far/

It's true that dexamethasone is not recommended for mild COVID-19 cases, because like all steroidal anti-inflammatories it works by weakening the immune system. It's exactly what you need when you have someone undergoing life-threatening lung inflammation, such as what happens with patients who are on ventilators or given supplemental oxygen. It is not something you want to give someone with only a mild case: you want their immune system to try to work to fight the infection while it still can! And yes, it can make people rather excitable, and the odd strings of all-caps tweets we'd been seeing from him are pretty much what you'd expect.

It's seems rather less likely at this point that Trump is faking the infection. It could have been somewhat plausible if he'd stayed at the White House, but since he'd been moved to Walter Reed such a ruse becomes very dangerous to maintain. There are too many people there, and at least one of them would blow the whistle sooner rather than later, and that would be very damaging.

Yes, the doctors really seem to have thrown the entire battery of drugs, even those used to fight heavy infection and serious pneumonia, at the virus - a powerful hint that he was not just suffering from a quick brush that would soon go down and disappear almost by itself. Even Trump wouldn't have been able to tell the doctors "fire everything you've got, even though it's just a mild wisp of flu!" and get obeyed on that one.

What you're reading about dexamethasone is true. It's not even a controversial take. There is no agenda there.

He's using his "easy win" over COVID to declare its not really a threat, and "no worse than flu". Twitter disagrees. As does the medical community.

The people who would listen to him at this point were never going to be careful anyway. They crave permission to be atrocious, and that's what he gives them. That's all he gives anyone.

Mr. Oniya's step-father had a lung transplant late in life.  I saw him struggling to breathe on many occasions, and that was even with the nasal cannula.  There are muscles that normally don't have to do much that start pulling more of the load.

This is what I saw in the video of Trump.  So did other people.

And in a 'not on my Bingo card' moment, it seems that Junior thinks he's off the rails and needs an intervention.  O_O

I think Jr is really worried about everything (including debt and blame and consequences) falling on him if Trump's erratic behavior gets him sick enough to die and/or delusional enough to let the truth about things out. I doubt it's about actual concern for his father. In the same vein, i think Ivsnka is so inundated with how 'great' her father is that she really believes he's doing well, because HE believes it. Or she's hoping he'll kick off and she'll get everything. I'm 50/50 on that one.

My bet's on the former. She's always struck me as someone who drank the Kool-Aid right alongside her father.
