How Long Until We Return To Full Functionality?

If this has been asked elsewhere, I do apologize for missing it. I understand that certain things are still not working, and was curious if there were an estimated return to full functionality? Will we be able to return to the state prior to this update?

Another question to add here instead of starting another topic... With the new layout, is it possible to have bottom of the page menus, or a go to the top or home button? So much scrolling...

Thing that is causing the biggest issue for me is the disappearance of the resize image function, which has broken almost every image I have ever posted, both in IC and non-IC topics. :(

*edit* Actually it seems only the images where I had used the padding tag too are affected. Which is still most of my IC post images. :/

Even nuclear clouds have a silver lining. Suddenly the pm function let me easily find half a dozen old messages that had been given an Unread marking a long long time ago, so I could set them to read. Among 16 000 messages it's not easy find messages that I didn't recall who sent or what about. Now I have the 'no new messages' message for the first time since 2019. It is bittersweet since it is far far too late to reply to them, but satisfying in a way even so. This is one new feature after the crash that I would love to retain.

I've lost a few of my bookmarks, no big deal really, the topics are there. However, I am unsure how to add bookmarks, I could be utterly blind, but thought I would say something in case I am not the only one.

Bookmarks if it’s using the (third party contributed) add on module I think it is isn’t verified for this version of the forum, hasn’t been updated since mid last year.   The forum software is now current and was last modified in June..

Some people are finding it works better in some browsers than others, and at least the iPhone version displays the bookmarks but the right half of the screen is stuffed based on a screenshot I have seen.   Try holding shift and clicking refresh (wait until the page finishes loading before releasing shift, use incognito mode or a different browser.  

If you can get a partial load you might be able to copy the URL of your bookmark and compare it to the URL of a normal thread when browsing the forum and work out how they are differentl. I don’t have any bookmarks so I can’t help here.

The next bits just a general comment not a reply to the above.   
Mainly because I have been on the other side of this coin in different situations and been the one scrambling to fix things.

By all means tag faults, a list of things broken is needed or issues of things wrong.  Sometimes it can highlight just where errors are - but function must take place over form or inconvenience until everything is operating normally.

Considering the significant version jump in the software as part of the recovery steps to get the forum running to this level, and the huge number of custom modifications (I’m not certain but I believe the multi column part of the theme was one of them) in the past it’s going to be a slow recovery back to the experience you know.  

Just be patient - it’s been a hell of a task to get it this far, and it’s still a massive task for Vek’s to deal with.  you can only do so much in a day.

One of my roleplay partners just pointed out that the member gender setting seems to have reverted to the default (apparently male) since the forum update. So I'm guessing a lot of folks will not be aware of this change on their profile page.

Personally, I hate the new layout. xD It's sooooo much scrolling, and it just feels so bland and devoid of personality. There's also so much broken UI, shifted around options and broken bbcode, it's a heck of a job working out how things operate now.  I'll get used to it, I suppose, but I miss the old layout. xD

IF (major if) I understand right it's like...the forums got upgraded and this is the default for the upgraded forum and something about all the upgrades broke the specific custom things for E, which is what is in the works to fix up now.

So kind of like, we moved into a new house now we have to unpack all our stuff and redecorate it to remind us of home?

Speaking solely as a user and not in any position of staff or coder or anything like that, I'll definitely say I miss the older layout as well, less scrolling and such.

That being said since we just came out of a SNAFU and the update is shiny and new, I'm happy to give Vekseid the time needed to gussy things up once again. I'm just glad Elliquiy is back!

Today's Todolist:

- Some database stuff has taken priority for much of my E work today. E.g. see announcement.

- Fix Legate and other missing badges (should be done)

- Fix new user signups (oops... done)

- Fix Ellicode properly this time (restore old tags) This should be done by the time most people read this.
-- I seem to have missed a number of old floatright/floatleft tags, those will have to be corrected manually by people I am afraid. It is possible most of them were already broken anyway.

Things I want to get to today:

- Mass-fix the default gender.

- Fix the Ajax Chat and Ellibridge to Discord

- Fix Bookmarks

Wanted to get to layout today but don't think that will happen.

There used to be a separate view for this?
