Ever since I saw Sydney Powell in that infamous RNC "We know it was Big Fraud!" press briefing, I've been wondering why she wears what looks like an inverted hangman's noose around her neck. It's some kind of necklace I suppose, but it looks really weird. Is she trying to signal that she's a tough wild west woman who aims to get people hanged if she thinks they deserve it, or something? :)

The whole lot of them, including their boss, are dangerous barking mad fuckwits. The sooner they are shovelled out the door the better. The damage they have done will take years if not decades to repair. My main hope and pleasure now is this may well be the end of the GOP. Fucking morons.

I’m seriously considering changing party affiliation as it is easier to be a moderate Democrat with a few conservative leanings, than to be a Rino and get flashbacks to the run up to Nazi Germany. I know I promised myself I’ve give the party 6 months after the inauguration but this shit has me thinking the talk of forming this ‘Patriot Party’ BS might be needed.

Watch the tools and fools torpedo themselves on the national level for a decade.

Oops, please be assured Callie that when I wrote "the whole lot of them" I meant Trump's sycophant advisors, Giuliani, Powell, Flynn, et al.

Not the party members. And certainly not you. I am sorry.

I too hope the Republican party will implode. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Same article without the paywall. It would be a huge service to E members if posters didn't link to pay-to-read only sites. Thanks.

Oh, sorry for that I probably just haven't met my limit for that site. Apologies for the inconvenience guys.

Missy

Although on closer examination of the paywall that displays, it also says you can read with a free account, so while I don't know the specifics for certain and I haven't tried it myself, it looks like it may actually be a 'register wall' instead of a pay wall, not sure if that impression is accurate though.

In a sign that I need to go outside and see if pigs are flying south for the winter...Pat Robertson of all people tells Trump to pack it in and move on.   I mean, I know what they say about a broken clock, but I'm pretty sure the last time Robertson was right was back sometime before dinos went extinct.

He came out for trans rights some time ago, which was a real shock to a lot of people. He's still very right-wing and fundamentalist in general, and doesn't care much for the rest of the LGB spectrum.

Absolutely nobody deserves applause who waited until December 14 or later to affirm reality.

Implode... no... fix itself... yes. Because I personally would like some sort of choice in what to vote for. (At the same time Trump dropping a 2024 run for election announcement would if anything... provide for those sweet spicy memes. If anything else XD)

I want the Republican party to implode, so that a reasonable new conservative party, offering real policies for real Americans, will rise in its place. Right now, the entire range of reasonable debate is happening within the Democratic party, while Republicans scream and rage.

To build off of this: if you're making a building, you need a solid foundation. If you have a bad foundation, your building will fall. You can rebuild the building, but it will continue to fail. Instead, you need to dig up the old foundation; throw it out; lay down a new foundation; and then, finally, rebuild.

Meh... The only reason the debate within the Democratic party sounds reasonable is that you are comparing it to the current Republican administration. On its own though... no not really, they simply have their own set of bad ideas.

Another means of bypassing paywalls (at least on Google Chrome) is to open the link in Incognito Mode.

So I've since initial posted the earlier link exceeded the limit imposed we had been discussing, so I tested Firefox's Incognito Mode and it worked similarly as you described. Thanks for offering this suggestion, I've passed on articles before for this very reason. Fancy.

I understand what you mean and in the terms of what you mean nothing would really change in actuality. If the Republicans went the way of the Whigs, then the Democrats would go the way of the Democrat-Republicans and make their own split as well.

In any case I personally feel this is all a moot point, since I don't really believe voting strategically between two monoliths contitutes liberty in the manner which you do, I don't have faith in the sincerity of the two-party-dominant-state.

Well I agree with you there, because I don't truly trust the state anyway. Which is why it is good that most of the time a lot of what the politicians say is just gums without teeth. However the reason I do vote is because I always felt that I should vote before I complain about stuff I don't like if that makes any sense.

Any fixes to the GOP to rectify its own problems and the damage it's caused to America (and by extent, the rest of the world via foreign policy) would be so systemic, and so alienating to the base that's been built up, that it may as well become a new party entirely. Thus the distinction between it being fixed of problems vs. crumbling apart is a moot point. What needs to change is the mindset and mentality among American voters who looked at the last 4 years of Trump and went "yeah, we're okay with this." Otherwise they'll just form their own barbaric 3rd party or flip parties when the Democrats start courting them, like what happened with the Southern Strategy.
