No problem - I've got a generic function now for turning any topic link into a most-recent-new link so might use it elsewhere in the options too :)  But I thought getting out a version for your immediate need would be helpful and give us a chance to find any bugs before I littered my code with calls to the function :)

v1.42.0

New version in which I have changed how settings for the script are stored, processed and presented.  You shouldn't see much difference in the way that things operate but there's a lot going on under the hood so bugs might have crept in.

Note that the new settings interface automatically saves changes but doesn't automatically refresh the page.  Some changes to settings won't be seen in effect until you leave the settings page and thus reload the script.

This is the first in a small set of changes I'm making to make the script more self-reliant and avoid relying on components that might not be kept up-to-date by the folks supplying them :)

v.1.42.1 is just a quick bugfix release for the new config stuff.  Most notably, the shoutbox substitution stuff wasn't functioning properly so I've commented that out until I get chance to properly fix it.  If anyone thinks it's urgent I'll bump it up my list but otherwise, it's a low-priority one as I'm not at all sure it was being used much.

OK - I've completed the work I was doing to update the script configuration system.  A few settings might change as a result.  Just pop on over to the usual place for settings and put them back to how you want 'em.

If you could code in the text color on the script settings page I'd appreciate it! I use the October theme (light text on dark background) and it's barely legible the light text on the light boxes.

OK - v1.42.4 should improve things :)  I've just pushed it to the site it downloads from so it may take a little while to get fully out there but should be available soon :)

hi there!

i'm having a wee bit of trouble and it's nothing serious, i'm just so used to it that i'm spoiled and want it back

i had to reset everything on my computer and had to re-download the Tampermonkey and script and ever since then the quotation marks aren't highlighting in Blue like they used to. i can't tell if i have a setting wrong somewhere or if i downloaded it wrong or whats happened.

anyone know how to fix it? thanks in advance!

I'm having a bit of problem with the script.

I have set "Auto-clear draft when you post" to on, but still the latest draft gets pushed into the "Quick Reply" box even though it was posted.
(I use "Quick Reply" almost exclusively.)

How can this be fixed?

I'll take a poke when I next get chance and see if I can replicate and fix it.  For the time-being, if you have auto-loading of drafts switch on, it might be worth switching it off and manually loading them.

I've noticed since last week that in a couple of my stories, I don't see the blue speech styling consistently in my partner's posts. Could this be caused by them having the script enabled as well, combined with the weird Modify/Edit issue affecting the styling somehow? Or is this purely an error on my end?

if you copy and paste from a word file it doesn't work .

for example "this is typed in the Eliquiy typy box thing"

For one thing, the pasted text is in "smart quotes", which are angled in relation to the text. The other is using straight quotes. That probably has something to do with it.

Yes - it shouldn't be anything to do with whether someone else has the script installed or not as it's purely a visual tweak and doesn't alter what is saved at all.  It is most likely something like this where the quotes used in word aren't the usual double quotes but rather a different charcter (or rather two characters) entirely.  Lemme see if I can do anything quickly to add those...
