She'd lost an election for senator just two months prior, but was appointed to the seat anyway until a special election could be held. Which, when it was, she lost again and Mark Kelly (former astronaut who was running in honor of his wife Gabby Giffords who was the victim of an assasination attempt in 2011 that severely injured her to the point she could no longer hold office.

This is a typical peek inside the minds of the deniers and conspiracists. The actual facts are not real so therefore there has to be a Master Plot going on. Life inside their heads must be a completely different experience. If these issues didn't affect the rest of us (that is political voting) it would be a laugh, but it is instead a very dangerous thing.

It's a pretty good look into QAnon specifically, but can be rather applicable for a lot of conspiracy theorists' mindsets.

It's actually kind of funny really I mean I was raised by religious fundamentalist sychphants, they actually do believe DnD and the like will make you 'believe' in - I mean what exactly. Does it seem ironic to anyone else that it's the DnDers and the Larpers and other RPers who leave their venue to go home to their partners and kids as ordinary humans and actually not elves and orcs and necromancers and such? I mean I wonder if the fear of this happening is some kind of subconcious tell that on some level these people really know they're suffering from a delusion?

The parallels of QAnon's Satanist pedophile ring has a lot of parallels with the Satanic Panic of the 80s and 90s, although in modern times a lot of QAnoners aren't really genuine believers. In that their concerns about pedophilia suddenly evaporate when shown evidence of Trump talking about Epstein's penchant for younger girls, or how quickly they abandoned the "celebrities diagnosed with COVID are actually being arrested for child abuse" when Trump got it. Or how they are practically silent on the abuse and rape of children in ICE facilities. Or how the PedoGate subreddit and some likeminded communities got banned when predators were using the community trade child pornography they "exposed" and felt the need to show others for...reasons. That's actually a pretty large problem in QAnon and PizzaGate circles; a lot of genuine predators use the place as a cover of righteousness and use it to "dig up disgusting stuff" that they don't turn over to authorities because "everyone's in on it from the top up, so only we can change things!"

To clarify, that's not to say that every QAnon subscriber is a liar or whose beliefs are insincerely held to use as a smokescreen to attack others. Rather, based on their priorities and actions one can spot a substantial number of non-believers and opportunists who stop going along with the program when one of their own is outed as an abuser (or even try to excuse/minimize their actions).
