Side note, I'm guessing that Laura's adamantium claws are treated like Domino's guns - an accessory? I mean, the making the claws appear part is totally power, but the adamantium coating wouldn't apply with these stat numbers, yes?

Oh good question, especially considering Domino's guns can be taken away easily (compared to the admantium, at least. that'd take more effect  >:))

Her claws being adamantium is what you would call a "modifier to damage". They don't have stats of their own, and when making determinations they'll be considered but it's her fighting that determines the base of her power with attacks made with the claws. It's no different than attacking with a gun, or a sword, or a baseball bat. Each of those applies a different "modifier" to the result - but fighting is the stat used to determine that at a baseline.

No. I mentioned earlier, that Charles never created the school in this setting.

So for my own clarity - the school never existed, but most of the various hero/villain teams did in one way or another. Right?

Not specifically. Because this setting allows for anyone to play anyone, good guy or bad, it's hard to say "there was a brotherhood, magento ran it and toad, sabertooth and mystique were part of it". If you're going to include something it should be very non-descript and not really dig into who was present in it. Largely, I'd say that for the most part you should err on the side of "no, they weren't a thing", but if you want to include it, given the above stipulations that's fine.

Too obscure for me, had to Google that one, lol. But yeah I guess that could work!

I gotta admit, I'm a bit turned off from the game by the character sheet.  It's long and weirdly specific.  The stats thing also doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

I am going to have to withdraw.  I just don't see myself completing the character sheet in a timely manner.  Good luck with your game, W.

...Long? -Blinks- It's... No longer than any other standard sheet.

Okay. Best of luck I suppose.

Due to the copious amounts of negative feedback that this game has gotten, I would ask that anywho who has not yet submitted a sheet hold off until I have looked into alternative ways to handle the development of characters. I am entirely unwilling to allow the rampant, uncontrolled crazy that comes with characters from the x-men/marvel setting, but if the way things are laid out now is such a problem as to be prohibitive to players I'll look into other options.

In the meantime, we'll continue to gain interest and take people who are interested in playing. Filling out the sheet, aside from the last parts, should be fine for now if you want to get a heads start - just hold off on submitting them until further notice.

Kuroneko

There's been negative feedback? ??? I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm not a stats fan, but even I can understand it. And that's saying something.

It seems fine to me - having things a little more defined definitely helps with the sorts of things you are mentioned, and a lot of Marvel games do suffer from some amazing power creep when left to their own devices. I also like your method because it gives a nice way to change characters up a little, and really makes people sort of pick and choose what they're good at rather than being good at everything like so many comic characters are.

If people can't get over the sheet, or are unwilling to reach out to you for help in filling out that section, then maybe it just isn't the right game for them. It is a very tiny barrier of entry. 'Sall good man!

So I wake up, see the character sheet, and there's already a hold on it ... things are moving fast!

The character sheet looks fine to me as is. Not sure what might set anyone off about it.

As for the stats themselves, hmm ... I think they're largely fine, but if you're taking suggestions: as is, it might lead to a lot of 'samey' setups with 4s and 5s in the Veterans and 3s and 4s (or 3s and 2s) in the Rookies, since there are many characters who need to cover all three at higher levels to match their character image. Especially so (or perhaps they just seem that way because we currently have a lot in the list) for those who are more stealthy fighters like people with Wolverine-esque abilities, since their healing falls under Power, they need Fighting and the mental resistance is high for pretty much every single one of those characters, or my own Gambit, who I was thinking of going 5/4/5 or 5/5/4 with. He's stealthy, fights somewhat evenly with Wolverine, can produce a huge amount of energy to charge things with and is very hard to pin down psionically, so the three stats make me want to spread it out as evenly as possible.

My suggestion is to move 'fine control' or 'power control' or 'power finesse' or whatever you want to call it into its own stat outside of Willpower, make it four and increase the given point total correspondingly. That's a stat that people with very encompassing, powerful mutant abilities like Magneto, Storm or Jean to take some examples here very much need, but characters whose mutant abilities are basically automatic like X-23 or Sabretooth or'point and trigger' (or charge and throw, in my case) don't really need it. So outside of characters who are proficient in every single one of those (Cable, maybe?), it might lead to more spread out stats.
