This indictment is ridiculously fascinating.

On multiple occasions, including on or about December 1, 2017, STONE told Person 2 that Person 2 should do a “Frank Pentangeli” before HPSCI in order to avoid contradicting STONE’s testimony. Frank Pentangeli is a character in the film The Godfather: Part II, which both STONE and Person 2 had discussed, who testifies before a congressional committee and in that testimony claims not to know critical information that he does in fact know.

Mueller is treating Trump the way a prosecutor treats a mob boss/underworld kingpin too. He's picking around the edges, weakening the main target by eliminating his advisors and confidants one by one before he goes for the jugular.

I was actually wondering if Mueller would make any moves at all during the shutdown, he had been super quiet as always lately. I guess this is what he's been building the groundwork for.

Trump has continued his line about this being a Witch Hunt. Amusingly enough, Trump sort of protected himself from a correction here. If he said "Greatest Witch Hunt in the history of America!" that would include before the USA, as in, the actual Witch Hunts. But he said in the history of this "Country." Meaning the USA. It's still complete rubbish and false but sort of funny that he in this instance chose a word that better protected him.

Mueller seems very good at this, I've talked about it before, but he is very quiet and then strikes suddenly in very big ways. Rather than normalizing it to the point where it's every day he only does it when it's really important and will make a big impact. As well he is ensuring his accusations are airtight rather than allowing there to be holes to poke in them that could put the whole thing in question. A lot of accusations can be made that are likely true, but he is waiting until he can prove without a doubt they are true to make them and to make arrests and things only then. It keeps people paranoid as well since they won't know exactly when he is going to do this so they can't easily prepare.

Its a level of competency, skill, and security not seen in this government for a while now. We need much more of it and in the hands of good leaders.

It's also very important in regards to the legal process, and to making sure that Trump and others can't actually prove there were wrongdoings that could tip things in their favor. How accusations are said are very important, especially for matters like these. And how people word things is very important in their accusations which can slip up people.

In regards to statements. If I say "I believe Trump is a guilty." This is a true statement, it is true that I believe that. "It is possible Trump is guilty." This is a true statement, it is possible he is. "Trump was in situations that a criminal could take advantage of." This is true as well, given his positions of power and many things he was involved in personally. "Trump is likely a criminal." Becomes harder to prove, how do you prove if he is likely one? You can provide opportunities and personality and past behavior but it is not clear evidence. "Trump is a criminal." This one requires legally recognized evidence as an accusation. Which we do have for certain matters, but in regards to the investigation publicly not yet we don't have 100% clear evidence of this.

So Trump has been slated to give a speech about the shutdown, it is supposed to be him announcing he struck a deal for at least a 3 weak temporary funding plan that will not include funding for the Wall. However, as of posting this he hasn't actually gone on to say it only announced he'd be speaking but hasn't appeared. This comes just after strikes were starting across the country interrupting air traffic. As well as after Roger Stone's arrest.

Yeah, no wall funding. Blaming it on Democrats and Republicans even though it's his fiasco. Mentioning that this time he didn't declare a state of emergency and take power, but then mentioned if it happens again he would. Is it me or when he was talking about the Wall not getting funding did he sound like he was losing his breath and in pain? It was kind of weird, he usually is so arrogant while he still is spouting his talking points he sounds kind of defeated.

Trump just wanted his state of the union. He doesn't care about anything else. It is his moment to "shine" so he won't waste it.

It's very annoying when news orgs just repeat his lines and spin without stating what happened. They're saying "Trump announced he struck a deal to reopen the government."

But he didn't, it's basically the same deal he rejected to get his Wall, but he didn't get his wall put people through all this suffering, and finally accepted a deal he originally agreed to before rejecting it to try and get the Wall. This was his fault and he is the one who caved he didn't "Strike a new deal." It frames him as having done anything positive and as negotiating, which he didn't do.
