What gives me reflux attacks is that these assholes forgive the presidentks presence at Miss America contests, historical philandering across EVERY marriage he’s been in, his creeptastic comments about Invanka, his multiple comments on a wide variety of issues.

I’m sorry if the first thing that comes out of your mouth when I say “Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby or (insert historical philandering douche)” is out right hate and yet you can go “he’s changed’ when the President’s actions come up. There is a word for that sort of person ..hypocrite

The New York Times reports Trump Ordered Mueller Fired, but Backed Off When White House Counsel Threatened to Quit.

QuoteWASHINGTON — President Trump ordered the firing last June of Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive.

When asked about it, Trump replied with 'Fake News'.

Baby, it's all I know,
that your half of the flesh and blood that makes me whole...

The New York Times reports Trump Ordered Mueller Fired, but Backed Off When White House Counsel Threatened to Quit.

When asked about it, Trump replied with 'Fake News'.

How long had Mueller been on the investigation team by then? Answer: just a couple of weeks. ^_^

It's obvious that Trump behaves like a spoiled CEO; he's not at all used to having to count with any checks and balances, or any kind of transparency.

Quote from: WikipediaOn May 17, 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller to serve as special counsel for the United States Department of Justice. In this capacity, Mueller oversees the investigation into “any links and/or coordination between Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation".

Mueller's appointment to oversee the investigation immediately garnered widespread support from both Democrats and Republicans in Congress.[45][46] Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) said, "Former Director Mueller is exactly the right kind of individual for this job. I now have significantly greater confidence that the investigation will follow the facts wherever they lead." Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) stated, "former FBI dir. Mueller is well qualified to oversee this probe”.

Ken Starr says that if Trump lied to the American people about trying to fire Mueller last summer, it could provide grounds for impeachment. Carl Bernstein, from the team that exposed Watergate almost half a century ago, also stressed how serious the situation is and that he personally thinks Trump did try to get rid of Mueller, on CNN earlier today.

I agree with both of them of course - but ultimately impeaching Trump will require that many Rep congressmen begin to see the President as a liability to their own careers, and to the country.

Considering the valid points Lilias raises with that story she linked, this reworked minor-chord version of a famous song is pretty spot-on:

QuoteDevin Nunes Just Admitted He Didn't Even Review The Details Of His Own Memo.

However, despite his position as the majority head on the committee, Nunes reportedly did not see fit to review the evidence surrounding his major claim.

“No, I didn’t,” Nunes told Fox News’s Bret Baier, when asked if he saw the evidence himself.

"The chairman never bothered to go read these underlying materials," said Adam Schiff (D-CA) told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Monday. "After months and months of making this argument that the FBI and DOJ are involved in some sort of conspiracy, he didn't even bother to read the materials himself."

Up until this interview with Baier, Nunes waved away these claims as "bogus".

Both sides are spineless, when push comes to shove, they waver.

Trump: Democrats’ muted State of Union reaction ‘treasonous’.

Sometimes all I can do is shake my head.

To be fair, that was the whole point. Trump knew that whether or not he talked about jobs and The Wall, or fairies and ponies, the Democrats would not stand for anything.  Because the Dems are so committed to the idea of La Resistance that they are willing to throw away whatever principles they had left after Hillary was through with them.

That is a mistake.  An enormous mistake. One they did not have to make, but did.

The Dems have painted themselves into a corner, and it's hard for me to feel sorry for them.

Hate to say it but from what I’ve been reading it is par the course from the opposition to sit on their hands at the state of the union.

Nothing treasonous to do the same thing the GOP did  under Obama

Oniya

Little Oni watched part of the State of the Union for extra credit in her Government class.  The take-away she had was that he talked a lot (when there wasn't an absurd amount of cheering) but didn't really say anything.  Mr. Oniya's comment on that observation was 'Does he think he's still on the campaign trail?'  She finally got disgusted when he started talking about 'Christian family values' and 'It's "in God we trust".'  (As if Trump has seen those words anywhere but on the Almighty Dollar.  And we all know how well he adheres to any sort of 'family' values.)

You can not feel sorry for them and still see the immense absurdity of claiming in any way, shape or form that not clapping is somehow treason. I mean, really.

Littlefinger is claiming that insufficient deference to his person is betrayal of the state. If that's what he actually thinks - for whatever value of "think" that constitutes, & as Masha Gessen says in Rules for Surviving an Autocracy, rule #1 is "believe what he says" - he considers all political opposition to be enemies of the state.

Meditate on that a bit. Because the only question may be how long it takes him to start trying to act on that principle.

Naturally.  The idea that failing to show deference to the President is somehow treason is analogous to the idea that not showing deference to the Pope will send you to Hell.  Granted, that's not something I would do, but just saying.

They have, because neither side is actually about governance in politics anymore; to each side, it's about power.  Who has it, what can they do with it, and who can they force to comply with their worldview instead of, you know, respecting that people are different.
