Okay...the biggest issue for me is the fact that I have a few different types of characters I like playing with a preference for sneaky types (Think Cipher from Young X-Men). So far, I've written Lightning, Rocket,  Cipher, a Dust knock-off, Angel Salvadore, a Vixen knock-off, a Gambit knock-off, Cecilia Reyes, Spectrum, Storm, Frenzy (but not as a Villain)...*blinks* I know there are more...(and don't even get me started on the anti-heroes or the femme I am playing based on Fire) so when I say that I have no idea, that is the literal case...as I don't want to reuse a character trope I've done before...

*sighs*

And then there is the parent trap...*shakes head*

I almost thought you meant Cypher aka Doug Ramsey and got excited!  Lol. 

I like the idea of Cecilia Reyes or Frenzy having settled down and lived a normal life, only for her child to get into hero stuff against her mother's wishes.

You could use Karla Sofen/Moonstone for the mother. She has very similar abilities as well as gravity powers.

I wouldn't let that deter you.

If you've got an idea that you really love, I'd reach out to those players and see if they'd be open for a half-sibling. You'll find that most of our playerbase is open to to the idea. :]

And those who aren't can't argue with GM orders.

What about Brynhildr the Valkyrie from Marvel?  She has a magic sword, as I recall, and could have given to her child and taught them how to summon it.  I could see her and Booster being on an Exiles or Linear Men/Time Masters kind of group and hitting it off there.

There's this little note about her sword; as a note, Khaji-Da is also the name of the Blue Beetle scarab.  You could maybe figure out a way to connect them somehow?

Brunnhilde employs two weapons: an unnamed iron spear and the enchanted sword, Dragonfang. An Oriental wizard named Kahji-Da was said to have carved the sword from the tusk of an extra-dimensional dragon. The sword eventually passed into the possession of the Ancient One, who in turn gave it to his disciple Doctor Strange. Strange awarded the sword to the Valkyrie after she had returned the current Black Knight's Ebony Blade, which she had been using, to its rightful owner. Dragonfang is virtually indestructible.

Having read up on her, she does seem super sneaky all right.  But I think your character should be seen!    Glad to see you've got some ideas towards what you might want to do!

My humble recommendation if you're feeling paralyzed by all the options is to look at what slots are open and see if that helps you narrow things down. Right now, the X-men are lacking a Sorcerer/Mage/Occultist, the Thunderbolts are lacking Muscle, the Outsiders line-up is way up in the air aside from the Leader and the Heart AFAIK, and the Metahumans of East Asia kinda isn't too big on roles anyway.

So, either a mutant who knows their way around magic, a combatant who's okay working with a bunch of Morally Edgy Ambiguous Posh Toffs, or... just about anyone, as long as they either have some kind of tie to East Asia or are down for some Into the Spider-verse type shenanigans.

You don't necessarily need to use canon parents, either, just so you know. There's nothing stopping you from going pure OC, if you'd like.

For that matter, if you want to draw on comics canons other than Marvel or DC, that may well be an option, especially if you're leaning towards the Outsiders, since they're doing that multiversal thing anyway.

Iiiii can't say I think their personalities would mesh especially well, but you could ask Rebelle, whose character is Psylocke's daughter, about possibly playing Kwannon's kid?

Or, if we want to get really wacky... Spiral has an... affinity for flashy blonde guys with a knack for showbiz.

I knew I was going to avoid my usual so I was already leaning toward magical use...if I find a set of powers that work for the conception I have for the character. *nods*  Hell, I even have a mother in mind...(no father though...do I need one...or can I use the classic pops unknown??)
