I'm interested in cape stuff. But I also would like to know more about the world and the people in it before committing and stuff.

So I have a few questions:
Does the world run on total or partial porn logic?
What is the source of powers in the setting? (for example: genetic-inherited mutations, science-induced mutations, magic arcane stuff no one can explain, a brain tumor an alien uses as a plug to implant powers into with not-entirely-understood scientific explanations)
When did people with abilities begin to appear on this (what I assume is) AU Earth?
What did the superhuman powerful people with the ability to explode their hated enemies with spontaneous explosions do?
How did the various nations of AU Earth take it?
What did the above mentioned Powers That Be do to reassure their populace that people with the ability to juggle and throw dumpsters around was fine?
Did life change on the surface of our Blessed Blue 🅱️lanet? If yes, did it change for the better or for the worse? If it did not change, why?

I will leave answering the setting questions to our illustrious DM and just say hello fellow Parahumans fan. 👀 It’s nice to meet you.

1 - About as sexually active as the average comic settings - some people really get into it and we're okay with it, there's always a separate thread for that stuff. But, generally... Plot > pr0n

2 - Definitely diverse sources, at least in what we've dubbed the "Prime" timeline for the moment. What other dimensions / timelines are gonna look like... *gestures vaguely*

3 - Per Young Justice seasons 3 and 4, various Marvel things, and various DC stuff.... they've been around for... *gestures vaguely*

4- We didn't really have a reason to dive too far into the past in our timeline discussions as far as the "Prime" setting is concerned, but given the Stone Age stuff that Marvel did, I'm sure we'll at least be talking about what that looked like for Sins, at some point.

5 - So, similar answer to 4. The first big government event/response we have noted in our "Prime" timeline is the 2005 Powered Individual Registration Act.

6 - Please see 5 - the US, at least, didn't respond well. We talked about how other countries and regions reacted in planning discussion, ie: China started their Green Lantern Corps, like they did in the New Superman run in Rebirth. But, a lot of these things never saw the light of day in actual writing.

7 - So this one's... a bit more difficult to answer. So, outside of fairly "normal" comic book Earth changes... what's going to be the biggest change would be a pretty massive spoiler. So, I gotta keep quiet on that bit for a little while.

Hopefully this helps.

So people with powers that are supernatural appeared before year 0 Anno Domini? I am not sure I understand whether powers were always part of Earth or if Powered humans appeared at a certain point, making the world diverge from our own, making it AU.
With regards to the 2005 Powered Individual Registration Act, does that mean the USA decided to force people who could possibly Erase a huge server room worth of market stocks and data with an EMP burst, to register their powers 'or else'?
Who are the biggest supers, on the surface, and what makes them so?
If there is a Tony Stark type of Super in universe, what stops him from building affordable and attainable ARC fusion reactors to deliver clean energy to second and third world countries?

Silvered Sutures

Would it be possible to have a list of the already taken parents?

Hiiiii.

So, we've got a few people reworking or replacing old characters.

But, this is... mostly up to date of what's claimed in the original timeline / universe:

Also, @inkybus - I haven't forgotten about you. Just dealing with meatspace stuff.

indarkestknight

Do note, even if parents are claimed, you can discuss potential siblings/half-siblings/alternate universe shenanigans with the player who claimed them!

I, for one, am totally open to discussion on potential siblings/half-siblings/alternate universe shenanigans with Peter and/or Felica.

Kadigan

Assuming two people from the same universe are ok there’s a character I had from another game that never went anywhere. I’d like to throw in for Captain Marvel (Danvers) and War Machine, checked that list they see,Ed open

Also thanks to LiC for the reinvite

*kisses fish noises*

Hype to have you back!

And that pair is open... everywhere. :D

Silvered Sutures

Frankly I was just curious to see if my personal favorite parent pairing was selected... which it wasn't

Remy LeBeau + Anna Marie LeBeau a.k.a. Gambit + Rogue

But thanks a lot for the list. I'm realizing it might be more interesting to mix and match Marvel and DC though, so maybe I'll have the parents be the canonical child of those two, Olivier Lebeau, and a DC character such as... Jinx!

The Parents

Add them together and you get...

Tadah!

Don't worry, I understand. Take your time, worldbuilding and lore should be considered carefully.

So, yes people with powers were around before the original world's recorded year 0. In-game, the AU(s) haven't appeared... yet.

PIRA required everyone with powers to register - or else, yes.

Pending character changes / new submissions... I think our cosmic entities (so our top of the totem poles) are Jean Grey (feat. the Phoenix Force), Chromosome (The child of Superman and Jean Grey with some testtube additions by Mr.Sinister), Charley Xavier (The child of June Moon and David Haller), and then you've got the smattering of normal top-tiery types (Superman, Scarlet Witch, etc).

Tony Stark is in universe - and what stopped him from building those kind of ARC reactors is that... I didn't really think about it when we started the game. Oops.

That will have to bear thinking, unless someone else has already distributed free energy like Nikola Tesla wanted to so many years ago...

The world must've diverged considerably, since superhumans have been present for so much longer: what made year 0 special? Since supers have been around for so long, what are the main differences between the setting and the modern world as we know it?

Also, is Superman capable of what the original Superman is capable? As in, punching Time and Space itself, holding a Black Hole in his hands, creating a Sun, dragging a Galaxy by himself, destroying an uninhabited galaxy with a sneeze, fighting his way through the Big Bang and so on?

Lex Luthor (Paternal Grandfather via Cloning)
Remy Lebeau (Maternal Grandfather)
Anna-Marie Lebeau (Maternal Grandmother)
Carnage (Symbiotic Grandparent)
Players: None (I think it'd be more interesting to build relationships in character, but am open to suggestions)

==Description==

Height: 5'10" / 6'2" to 12'4" (as Violence)
Weight: 142lbs / 180lbs to 685lbs (as Violence)
Physical Description: As Alexandra, she appears as a young, light-toned, Caucasian woman with long, dark auburn , loosely wavy hair and deep amber eyes, with salient high cheekbones and an athletic, enchanting, hourglass figure with all the curves in the right places and long, toned legs. As Violence, she is taller, with these traits further accentuated, crimson eyes sitting in black sclera, and violescent hair cascading to the left in a wild mess with skin of an extreme, almost vampiric, pallor. A more pointed jaw and further arched brows complete the distinction between this appearance and her normal.
Personality Description: Alexandra is an impulsive, flirtatious, impish, and generally devil-may-care individual. To her, what matters is less what is right or wrong and more what feels right and fun, in great part due to the hormonal mess her unique biology has created which makes her wires point in unusual directions. Cunning, smart, tricky, manipulative, and sneaky, she can be prone to sarcastic outbursts when annoyed or stressed out, and she can make a good quip here and there, but likes to flirt, tease, provoke, and convince others all while avoiding ever uttering a lie less out of a sense of morality and more so to challenge herself.
Atop all this, she has an uncontrollable urge to indulge her affections for beautiful women and devour those she deems deserve it due to her klyntarr cravings, and it has proven very difficult for her to restrain herself in those areas, earning her a solid spot as an anti-hero at best and incidental villain at worst.
Background/History: Alexandra was raised by Bekka Raven by herself, following the tryst she had with Connor Kent. This was not something that left her mother bitter towards her biological paternal figure, however, and had little to do in her upbringing. Despite being born with an abnormal gender arrangement; she seemed a typical young mutant whom had inherited the traits of her grandfather, and her mother simply raised her lovingly while training her to control these abilities, excited to one day see her daughter develop into a capable individual.

Alexandra hid something from her mother, however, another source of unique abilities - for one - as well as the reason the neighborhood pets kept disappearing; her Klyntarr side. For during the time where her maternal grandmother Rogue took control of the powers of Carol Danvers - Captain Marvel - she also took the codices of Carnage IV which were present on Carol, sneaking into the genetics of the former to resurface two generations later in the form of Alexandra's alter-ego and Klyntarr side; Violence. At a loss when this was discovered, Bekka tried to have her daughter looked after by some of those who were more familiar with the symbiotes, but with few of them being the reliable sort she ultimately had to ask for the assistance of the spider-men who could only give her their best efforts. Ultimately, Alexandra gained a grasp on how to make use of her symbiote side, but communication with the muted aspect was a lost cause.

Further complicating matters, her puberty led to a rush of confusing urges and motions as both male, female, human, and Klyntarr desires trashed and clashed to combine into an unusual gathering of complex characteristics and perceived needs which left her psyche rather fragile and her personality extremely impulsive and unstable. It took immense restraint for her to make her way through adulthood and leave her mother, but now that freedom was on the table, she was definitely not going to deprive herself in any way, shape, or form.

==The Special Stuff==

Character Archetype: The Specialist
Powers:
-Telekinesis: Like her father at birth, Alexandra does not currently possess the physiological features of a Kryptonian, instead relying on telekinesis to imitate these capabilities either via levitation, manipulation and repelling of objects and people, creation of force fields, disassembling people and things, and shooting telekinetic blasts. This also allows her to hyper-accelerate and empower her perception, reflexes, and senses allowing her to imitate the effects of superspeed and Kryptonian level faculty.
-Molecular Acceleration: Like her maternal grandfather, Alexandra has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy, thus “charging” that item with explosive results. Thanks to the combination of this ability with the previous, she is not limited as her grandfather was by the difficulty of throwing an object, and so can charge objects much larger in scope and size than playing cards with no difficulty. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of her explosions being dependent on the mass of the object she is charging, though she can also directly emit shockwaves from herself with flashbang, EMP, or detonation-like effects. A charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade. She has great difficulty using her powers on living matter or organic molecules. Likewise, the unusual static formed within her mind as a result of this ability protects her from other telepaths, and she can charge herself to simulate a healing factor by making her biological recovery methods increase in speed. Like her grandfather, she is working on using the kinetic charge of objects to assist in cutting and puncturing rather than simply detonating, but she is yet to completely polish the skill and can only apply this to objects that have a proper point, or edge, respectively.
Finally, by empowering the vibration of her own voice via psionic kinetic charging, her voice allows a subtle influence over any sentient mind. This power allows Alex to compel others to believe what she says and agree with anything she suggests. More powerful minds have proven immune to Gambit's - her grandfather - and therefore her charms, and people who are consciously aware of what she's doing can shake off the effects through mental focus.
-Klyntar Physiology: Alexandra and her symbiote Violence are genetically linked, affording her the abilities of size and shapeshifting, tendril generation, constituent matter generation/manipulation, cloning, regenerative healing, parasitic inheritance, ESP, morpho-merging, body storage, camouflage, and a secondary avenue of superstrength, speed, and agility atop her telekinetically bestowed one.
Skills:
-Versatile Combat: Through the multitude of people that were bound to the Carnage IV symbiotes and its ancestors, Violence - and therefore Alexandra - also inherited their combat skills. This is further compounded by the training she received from her mother in the skills inherited from her own parents, ensuring Alexandra is at least proficient in any weapon she picks up and fighting style she uses.
-Acrobatics: Through her symbiotic ancestry and training, Alexandra is an hyper-talented acrobat and gymnast.
-Ventriloquism: While originally a childhood hobby, Alexandra is now able to project her voice and imitate voices with very little difficulty, provided she has heard the original voice at least once.
-Multitasking: Unlike most symbiotes, Violence does not have a mind of its own and is entirely psychologically linked with Alexandra, which meant that from a very early age she had to be at two places at once. This allowed her to split her attention multiple ways, allowing her to take on multiple tasks from multiple perspectives in multiple different places all at once.
Weaknesses: -Fire: Violence recoils instinctively from flame, depriving Alexandra of her Klyntar abilities.
-Sound: Powerful sounds also cause Violence to recoil as with fire and offer a similar inconvenience.
-Urges: Both the Klyntarr and Human side of Alexandra and Violence have an acute sensitivity to their nutrition and sexual cravings which can force them to act in suboptimal manners. This is more pronounced the longer since they've satisfied related cravings and the more appetizing the target of their urges is.
-Adrenalin: Both because it is a source of sustenance for her Klyntarr half and because she is positively addicted to the feeling; Alexandra will always pick the most dangerous option when multiple avenues present themselves to her.
Extras: A nameless, klyntarr
sword
of Alexandra's creation. A pale copy of the all-black, it is a durable, sharp, and perfectly balanced but otherwise normal sword, which she is capable of concealing within herself thanks to her Klyntarr abilities.
Costume Description:
Her Costume
is the result of her semi-Klyntarr biology, allowing her to appear humanoid while modifying her facial features in such a manner that it functions as a costume. Though she can also take on a
more complete symbiote form
when she so wishes.
