Also, just occurred to me and IDK that we don't have a healer. We're gonna end up spending a LOT of cash on healing potions xD

Well the party so far is... an alchemist, a kineticist/monk, a summoner, a whipbuckler, a zealot, and... possibly an enchanter/enchanting courtesan? We aren't totally without a healer, but having an alchemist isn't quite the same as a cleric when heal is still 3 levels away.

Vergil Tanner

I've been considering picking up the Recruits feat because it fits the character - gathering followers and retainers, as well as her own little mini-harem - but that would depend on whether they would come with their own equipment or not >.> Because buying equipment for six other characters is gonna stretch me thin xD

On the other hand, that could help with the whole "Shit, we need a cleric" thing xD

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

I can't tell you how many times I've played in a game without a healer. lol

Now, where's that wand I can't use anymore...

:P  Yeah, this is a thirteenth level game.  I can make healing potions a gourp of six!  That's 750 gold to give someone cure serious wounds!  I'm the best healer ever.  :P

If I take the Recruits Feat, I'd get six level 9 cohorts that I could swap out into the party. First of all, would people be ok with that? Second, three of those slots would be taken by a Bard, a Cleric and a Paladin. Any other requests? xD

Huh? I'm confusedated, what you talkin' about.

Looking for advice, an ioun stone granting weapon profiency, or a feat giving it. Which is the better option?

Vergil Tanner

The Recruits Feat gives you a number of cohorts = your character level divided by two (so for a 13th CL, 6) at your level -4. These cohorts cannot be "active" at the same time, so you need to switch them out whenever you're in a big city. So, if I were to take the Recruits Feat, I would get 6 followers at level 9. I was considering this feat because it fits Alaya's character; gathering followers / mini-harem. xD

IF I take this feat, I was considering which Cohorts I would choose. Because we don't reeeeeally have somebody capable of healing, I was contemplating one of these six slots being used for a Cleric. A Bard is a useful support class, so that would be another one. A Paladin could be a fun contrast to Alaya, so that's another one.
After that, there are three more "slots" to take, so I was asking if there was a specific class or character concept that people might hypothetically like to see xD

As for the weapon proficiency, it depends. Are you starved for feats? Then use the Ioun Stone. Are you strapped for cash but have a feat you're not using? Use the feat. Though if you buy a Wayfinder and slot that Ioun Stone into it, you get Weapon Focus as a bonus feat.

Ah, I see. If we didn't have so many crafters in the pool, I would of suggested one to give everyone a discount on stuff. lol

A healer would be good, perhaps a dedicated face? Someone to gather information, hear the gossip, etc. But then, a bard would fill that role.

The stone would open up two feats that could be used to expand the options for none combat opportunities... Something to build on later... let me think about it.

Lmao, yeah, I think crafters is one thing we DON'T need more of xD I was definitely considering either a Cleric or a Life Oracle. Everybody loves a Healslut! Paladin 'cause I wanna tinker with a Rageadin Build. Bard because of the support. Other three... *Shrug*

Though I wouldn't worry about a Face. Alaya over here has like +22 Diplomacy xD

Actually, I had thought about that, but the selections were uninspiring. A housecat? Even a lynx wouldn't be all that entertaining. I saw a player with a giant snake once, never could figure out how he got it without a dip into druid, which he didn't have.

Now, if I could get a smilodon... lol

Callie: a reminder that you have agile maneuvers already thanks to the elephant in the room rules are in use.

Vergil Tanner: I have leadership feat and I dedicated my cohort to be 11th level cleric (Angelfire Apostle). So no need dedicated healer if GM controls her and tags her along with the group handle healing. As she can use energy channel for various curing effects (and also smite evil).

Well that handles that problem! Though admittedly, I'm still tempted since having a small group of followers / lovers is a very Alaya thing to have xD So I MIGHT do that anyway xD

ALSO. Does anybody want to discuss connections / relationships with their characters? Anybody at all? :-3

I think it goes without saying that N’Dara would be very open about relationships and connections. I’d definitely see her trying to get along with a princess in exile

Vergil Tanner

Yeah? Any particular reason? :P
I mean, obviously I'd love to have a connection! But since your sheet (at the moment) doesn't tell me much about her character, what can you tell me about her? Personality, goals, etc etc? ^_^ I'm not familiar with the other Spires game, soooooo anything you can tell me would be super helpful in working out the deets of their relationship! :D Alaya would have been eminently friendly and welcoming, depending on how they met, and she's always eager to make friends and allies. She also always ends up elbow deep in other people's problems just because she has a bit of a habit of offering assistance without a second thought xD
Though I can say that if she is even vaguely cute, Alaya would probably have hit on her at least once xD

Well N’Dara is what I call a ‘Pleasure Sage’, basically she’s what her prestige class says, an Enchanting Courtesan. I figure in the time since her escape she settled into the role of madam, socialite and courtesan without peer. The sort who hosts amazing parties and knows eveyone who matters.

Vergil Tanner

Well, as a party-loving socialite herself, Alaya would certainly have met her at one of these parties xD She's not quite as diplomatically charming as N'Dara, but she's no slouch either! What kind of relationship do you see the two of them having, perhaps? Professional? Friends? Etc etc. xD I don't know much about N'Dara. Alaya would have tried to be friendly and flirty, so it kind of depends on how N'Dara would have responded to that ^_^

Zaer Darkwail

Well, not sure will my char had got any personal connections with anyone as his philosophy is a weird one. Which sort fits that general (in-class fluff) zealots are hard to get along with (despite their immense charisma) cause they are extremely driven by extreme alignment expression.

But in my char case he specifically *avoids* extreme alignment displays. His only guiding principle is extreme altruism (or as he calls 'pure' altruism). Altruism is often credited to be trait aligned to good alignment but he is not good-aligned; he expresses altruism as means of gaining acceptance in the community. Not do good things to others cause they 'feel good' or 'feel it's right' but rather 'I prefer treated better by others so I do good'. But also this altruism has another side as well; you must display altruism even those traditional evil-aligned beings like demons or raksasha or vampires. So long they're not enemy or causing trouble.

But where it goes extreme, if there is two groups of innocent people. Other has 200 people and other has 10, you need sacrifice one to spare the other. So pure altruism (in his philosophy) would indicate no hesitation to sacrifice 10 people to save 200. If there is truly no other options to take or able to spare both. It's a very simplified example of the classic heroic's dilemma with the train track; one track has your parents whom you love and the other track 10 babies.

But it also applies other circumstances, diplomatic and government wise. In his view extreme good is equally bad as evil can be. That the world is a better place when both forces are kept in check; neither side dominating. The world is a better place cause there is this eternal conflict between angels and demons (and devils vs abyss etc). If peace, universal peace, would be achieved it would be good but also impossible as it indicates one or more parties become dominant forces and thus tyrannizes one or more people, and ideologically he is opposed to such suppression. As he views it; all mortal beings have light and darkness in them, but it varies by an individual which is dominant and in his dojo he tries to educate and teach people to achieve 'perfect balance' between their light and darkness than controlled or dominated by either.

Anyways sorry for bit longer rant/explanation but I wanted to explain it in detail what Darian is like as a person, help determine any possible interaction ideas for him, or if anything he does resonates with anyone. In class wise as Zealot he uses two styles, Black Seraph and Silver Crane, which each present extreme evil and good, able wield both styles equal proficiency and able even swap dmg types (profane vs sacred) spontaneously.

Well she’d definitely flirt back, it’s part of her skill set. :). I could see her going a lot of ways. She’s very flexible in a lot of ways.

Zaer:
I think Darian would likely come into conflict with Alaya a lot xD Not massive conflict, just ideological conflict considering she actively wants to do as much good as possible, and she cares a lot about the people around her. Her being her, she might still flirt and she'd try and get along with him, but she'd also be quick to chastise him if she thought he was being selfish / thoughtless / apathetic / unsympathetic to the plight of the innocent or defenceless. And she'd be very quick to volunteer herself for services to other people, and probably try and drag him along with her xD Though she'd still enjoy flirting with him, if he was a pleasant enough person to speak with. Girls always like a BIT of a bad boy, after all :P

Callie:
Well, where would you like it to go? I mean, as I said, Alaya would be altruistic and friendly and would be more than willing to help if there was an issue that needed solving. She kind of volunteers her help to noble causes first, and thinks later xD And she's - I imagine - a fairly common player in the noble circles. I get that she's flexible, but that's not really telling me much about what YOU want from their relationship xD So maybe we should start from scratch. How did they meet? I imagine it was at a party of some kind, given then socialite statuses. Maybe it was a party that got "dramatic" in some way? They met, chatted, flirted, exchanged pleasantries, maybe a few flirty, suggestive comments and then Something Happened and they teamed up to resolve it in some way and got closer to "friends" than "Someone I Met At A Party" that way? Or perhaps N'Dara was having an issue of some kind and Alaya volunteered to help out?

Race: Elf Gender: Female
Age: 164 (26 apparent)
Height: 5’6” Weight: 129 lbsj
Skin: Pale Hair: Black  Eyes: Silver/Blue

History:

“There was once a boy from Kaer Maga named Darren, a cunning half elf lad who grew into a handsome thief who charmed the ladies, fooled the guards and made off with goods. He and his partner stole all manner of things across the inner sea...

Till they stole the Key of All..

The Key could unlock any version of you across infinite worlds. Legend has it that many heroes and a few villains forged their destiny with it.

Darren didn’t expect betrayal. His partner stabbed him with Key and twisted..
He was a human, in the garb of the Taldan legions...
An elven hunter carrying a bow...
A half elf guardsman ... walking a street beat
A doe eyed elven courtesan clad in silks and satins, painted and perfumed..

With a twist the betrayer left him remade as N’darra the Velvet-tongued, and mocked the changed thief.  Till three bolts pierced his chest and he fell from the keep walls and into the torrential river below ..the Key lost in the rushing waters below.

Newly minted N’Dara was taken to jail, the Warden acting on the lost Key owner’s wishes for her to be punished. A handful of curses for her. One to keep her name to the one of this body..another to fuel her lusts, another to amplify her peaks.

Darren of Kear Maga is gone, the rogue remade into an elven counterpart of his from a different reality, N'dara. A Nor'Thor (Passion Sage in elven).

Now, several decades later, she’s settled into the identity of N’Dara and moved past her old life. With the curses the Warden gave her eased up and putting her skills to work as a Passion Sage, she’s moved up in the world. She isn’t nobility, but she entertains them and the richest merchants on equal footing as no one wants to be cut off from her services, home or social circles.

Personality:
In the time since her escape from prison, N’Dara had eased into her current identity with little misgivings. Where she was once concerned with her ease of skill at Trad'ath Nor (Arts of Passion), it’s simply what she can do now. She has made a good living and found her place in th world. She’s the premiere courtesan in the city and her business has a reputation for quality services and discretion.
When out on adventures she is sneaky and underhanded as she was in her prior life but now with magic and manipulating others. Socially she’s very outgoing and forthright as needed and sees into the role of a knowledgeable and capable woman.
