Someone replied to me on Youtube this morning, in the comments underneath a video relating to the JFK asassination:

"God bless Trump he is trying and doing great shit for this country but the media wont report it and if conkrite was here today he wouldnt have anything good to say about the best president the country has ever experienced. donald trump who woulda thunkit. i love our president he has balls bigger than the town that killed kennedy"

Also in case anyone would wonder why I might be so angry at the man as to make such a remark. Keep in mind his recent plans to define me literally out of existence and strip me of all my rights. While his department claimed that I have too many rights I don't deserve. On top of everything else which should already be enough.

Jokes and sarcasm do not translate well over text and across languages.

But to play Devil's advocate, its ignorant to deny that there was Russian involvement and still might be. A slight against a government is not a sight agaisnt the people. Many are Angry with the American government just as many are angry with the Russian and Chinese governments, but the people dont always have control of what their government does and sometimes the government doesnt act in their best interests.

Yeah it can be really hard when you are not submerged in a certain level of irony or sarcasm surrounding a cultural thing and when it isn't your first language or country its about to know if something like that is a joke. I think it's understandable for her to not recognize it as one especially with how many people there are who unironically call everyone that disagrees with them online a bot.

And Frankly, this is not quite, but close to left-echo chambery already. I've seen at least one (admittedly kinda trolly) right-side minded person posting here banned with little hesitation.

Not to say that r/the donald isn't worse, but I as an outsider read things both here and over there primarly because the extreme viewpoints people have are entertaining to observe. I mean, scroll up just a half-dozen posts, you have people in no uncertain terms ask for the murder of a man, misguided and misguiding though as he may be.

I'll admit to reading that post (by a member here) as ironic. The comments I saw on Youtube were definitely not ironic in tone though, that person was not just all over themselves with Trump, he/she was also casually hailing the JFK assassination as a good and patriotic act. And meant it.

I'm fairly conservative, I believe in capitalism (Which seems to be the ultimate right wing thing lately in some circles) even if its regulated. I believe in a strong military and our intervention elsewhere to keep us strong on the world stage, I'm pro gun. (Sig Sauer P226 and Ruger Mini-14 are my favorite guns ever).  I'm fairly right leaning, though the GOP does not hold my loyalty.

What I am trying to say with the above is, yes we need some people from the other side of the fence and the middle, but that's not an excuse to throw jabs at other people like that. Come on man, you know better than that. This isn't facebook, youtube, or tumblr. We can actually treat each other with respect, hear new opinions and so long as no one is actively being an asshole or insulting others we can learn alot through conversation. And if its too much we can always step away and be mature about this.

So how do people feel about Trump's plans to suspend amendments with executive orders to redefine who counts as a citizen around the border to allow the thousands of soldiers he's sending there to kill or detain people in our borders?

Welp, what can I say, I thought it an obvious joke and didn't mean it as a personal whatever. Looking at Tsarina's posts I can clearly see that there's a language barrier problem, but I couldn't know that. My bad I guess.

Beyond that *chuckles* I believe that for Trump there's really only three positions. You love him, you hate him, or, imo the biggest group, 'specially outside the US, you think he's a joke, that is just a little bit too realistic to be funny at times. *Shrugs*

That was the breaking point for my father X3  He used to be pro trump but that has eroded to him actively going "Fuck you trump". It took him a while but at least he has come around. My mother is....she just plugs her ears and refuses to hear it :/   but that's kind of par for the course with her, she will never admit to being wrong about anything no matter what.

I'm glad my father is at least with me here. We started talking and according to him, Trump's anti Birthright stance was the last straw.

His words: "I don't care if the parents are illegal or whatever. Those kids were born citizens, I fought for their rights to be citizens!"

The limits to this are very narrow (children of foreign diplomats e.g.).

That 1. it does apply to children born in the US to ordinary foreign citizens and 2. that the Constitution trumps Trump is axiomatic.

Of note, an article in Reason points to the floor debate at the time of the 14th amendment's passage. The language is vintage.

Sen. Cowen of Penn. "Is the child of a Gypsy born in Pennsylvania a citizen? Is it proposed that the people of California are to remain quiescent while they are overrun by a flood of immigration of the Mongol race?" [meaning mainly ethnic Chinese]

Sen. Conness of Cali. "We are entirely ready to accept the provision proposed in this constitutional amendment that the children born here of Mongolian parents shall be declared by the Constitution of the United States to be entitled to civil rights and to equal protection before the law."

That is to say that the scapegoated ethnicity of the day (Chinese v. Hispanics) are covered by citizenship.

Let's not lose sight of what this is.

This is a dog whistle to Trump's white supremacist supporters on the eve of an election he fears. He wants desperately for people to look away from his botched response to the murder of people in a house of worship and one of his lockstep followers trying to murder his political enemies. He wants desperately to stave off the accountability and sunlight that would come from a House that takes its Constitutional mandate of checks and balances seriously. So he is going on a desperate gambit to drum up support from his foaming at the mouth anti-brown base when anyone with a basic understanding of our laws can see would be slapped down in mere moments.

You know what that means? It means what 5 out of 9 justices on the Supreme Court says it means.
