I'm thinking wings but those prevent sleeping on one's back unless you can hide them inside the body or something. But at a basic level it's more like wing jumps gliding building into real flight like an angel or demon. Speed is variable. Depends on diving,  climbing wind current. Etc

Well, when you're thinking about wings, you also have to consider the necessity of flying with wings; the wingspan needed to lift a human being up from the ground is huge, considering that most (if not all) flying creatures are either tiny in comparison to their wings, or have hollow bones to make themselves lighter. In order to use wings to fly at all, the human would require something like a 40 or 50ft wingspan, along with hollow - and therefore delicate, easily broken - bones. Further, the entire muscular structure of the characters back would have to be rewritten to allow for movable wings, which also means that they'd have to learn how to use these muscles and exercise them to get them to be powerful enough to "Flap" with enough force to lift them in the first place.

(Yes, I've thought about this a lot :P )

So really, if you want to have wings, we can work it...but there are a lot of physical changes and downsides that would have to come from that. I'm happy to do it, so I'll leave that decision to you :-)

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

I'd Say magical. Psychokinesis is a suite of powers though, as if you can fly you can probably also things your weight or less around

Vergil Tanner

Well, not necessarily. It can be that his power is limited strictly to himself :P

Either way, we have a more "Magical" explanation of him floating and flying. So, the questions now are:

1) What does it cost him? What are the drawbacks to using his power? Does he get tired? Does it put a strain on his body? Can he hurt himself if he moves too quickly, from the G-Forces? How long can he maintain his flight?

2) How fast can he move?

3) When he wants to fly with objects or people, is he limited to his own carry weight, as it were, or can he carry more than what he could normally lift?

4) What's his maneuverability like?

1) since you're having start as a base power I Imagine he could fly up to an hour or so before he starts to tire (like up to an hour let day to start) after that it becomes Tiring and causes bodily fatigue or headaches.

2) before fatigue probably about 25mph? Top speed or much faster in a full dive

3) I'd say normal carry weight.

4) going by both pathfinder and DND standard, likely can turn on a dime going "walking-jogging speed" but has wider turns the faster he's going

Well, what pace? I mean, walking, sure. But I would imagine going top speed, he can only manage a handful of minutes, right? Since he's pushing his body to the brink.

Quote from: Snake on August 11, 2018, 06:40:22 PM2) before fatigue probably about 25mph? Top speed or much faster in a full dive

Hmmm. Well, top speed in a straight, horizontal line at beginner level, I would say 20mph, with him being able to go faster if he dives or is going at an angle. However, what's his braking speed?

Quote from: Snake on August 11, 2018, 06:40:22 PM4) going by both pathfinder and DND standard, likely can turn on a dime going "walking-jogging speed" but has wider turns the faster he's going

I wouldn't use DnD and Pathfinder as barrometers. They don't take facing into account, and their rules for what you need to roll for when flying are...odd, in some respects.

I would say that he can turn on a dime when staying still, he has a small turning circle - like a foot, maybe - when walking, and that increases to, like, the kind of arc of a running track when going full speed.

When turning or braking, however, remember that too tight a turn or too harsh a stop can easily result in some pretty nasty g-forces. :P

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Name: Armitage Louise Borinski
Age: 18
Appearance: (Alex Pettyfer)

Orientation: Bisexual, Enjoys polyamorous relationships.

Relationship status: Always open

Type: Delinquent/ Class clown. If you can’t find him he’s usually in the dog house or up to something.

Power Theme: Teleportation.
1. He can only teleport to places he has already seen/been to.
2. It takes a lot of concentration (this will be a big thing because he’s not great at focusing himself) for him to actually teleport and even then sometimes it just doesn’t happen at all.
3. Sometimes he will manage to teleport but somehow be missing his clothes. This happens two ways, one him teleporting to the spot but leaving his clothes behind or two, the clothes teleport but he doesn’t. When he gets more advanced this may happen to the people he attempts to teleport with so be warned!
4. He will only teleport a room away when he intended to go someplace else or will end up someplace else because of a split second distraction while concentrating. At first, he can only go about 30ft sort of room to room and then with practice he can go up to 100miles distance from point A to point B.

Side effects: Tiredness having to rest at least 20 min after something strenuous (time increases by how strenuous the teleportation was for him). Motion sickness, again the intensity is proportional to the amount of labor in the teleportation. Dizziness. Splitting headache.

Personality: Our boy Armitage is an immature, reckless, irresponsible, love sick fool. He doesn’t tend to take anything very seriously. He’s kinda like a puppy, cute and well meaning but he still peed on the carpet and chewed up your favorite slippers. He falls in and out of love more often than a teenage girl but don’t let that put you off. He’s never cold or uncaring with his lovers. In fact his emotions and intention to commitment are as genuine and real as he can feel them. However, he’s got a problem with cheating and he never means to do it but it seems to happen and before he knows it he’s caught up in two relationships instead of one, which always ends badly for him. He enjoys freedom and, parties and, he enjoys group sex. He’s not the best judge of a person’s moral character which tends to get him into trouble, especially if they are not a good influence on him. More than anything he is a free spirit with a good heart, that’s tilted a little toward the mischievous side.

Flaws: He can be more than a little dishonest. Especially when it comes to relationships in which his partner prefers he be monogamous. He never intends to hurt the ones he loves but he really struggles to fit into a box society has made for him. To be the breadwinning husband to his partner to be, father two kids and raise them in a house with a white picket fence…. such thoughts make him feel like he can’t breathe while he shudders in a cold sweat. It’s not like he isn’t loyal, more like he is loyal to more than one person. As a result, he may lie and cheat behind his partners back if they have made it clear that they expect him to be exclusive to them. He makes an effort but it never feels right for him and he ends up lying and cheating, which isn’t really what he wants. He knows it’s wrong he just can’t stop it from happening.

Another thing one might notice about him is the fact that he is in trouble nearly constantly. He would say it’s bad luck but it’s probably due to his many, many poor choices. He is on first name terms with the school security officers and the principal knows him rather well. Funny enough he has a deep fear of confinement. Not the kind that some people engage in, in the bedroom but the kind that involves a jail cell. Other similarly small spaces he finds himself trapped in also trigger this fear.

Biography: Armitage and his mother were originally from the UK. Armitage was an only child and his mother was part of a gypsy caravan. Being a protective mother bear type she never let not having a father figure in Armitage’s life stop her from raising him the best she knew how. His mother let him learn of life what he would and so he took full advantage of the gypsy clan that was his family. They taught him how to pick a pocket and a lock nearly as soon as he could walk. Cheating at card games and other parlor tricks followed close behind. His days were filled with running the streets with the other children. He learned how to steal and he learned how to break into just about anything. That’s not to say he wasn’t ever caught by the authorities because he was, more times than he cared for actually. However, because he was a minor they could not charge him. Instead, they held him in a detention center for the day and let him out at the end of the day. He had repeated bad experiences while locked up and thus developed a fear of confinement and a distaste for authority figures.

His mother fairly recently fell in love with a man, who also fell in love with her. He was very rich, coming from an old money family and was himself a renowned brain surgeon. Armitage liked the guy well enough even if he did get on him about being better behaved. You could take the boy off of the street but you couldn’t take the street out of the boy. There were a lot of things for him to learn and some of them he didn’t really care for. He didn’t like his mother’s husband’s family. They looked down on him and his mother and his adopted cousin's mirrored the adult’s attitudes. By this time they had moved to the states and his loving, well-meaning adoptive stepfather wanted to enroll him in a good school. His mother agreed that it would be good for him to get a well-rounded education. So, here he was, dressed up in designer clothes, trying to behave himself in a place he so clearly felt like he didn’t belong.

Miscellaneous:

Good luck trying to keep things from him. In his mind there wasn’t a lock, or door made good enough to keep him out. Don’t be surprised to find him snooping in places he shouldn’t be.

He doesn’t know any fancy martial arts. He is more of a brawler. If he finds himself in a fight he knows how to hit hard and play dirty.

Parkour is something of a favorite past time for him. There is something freeing about it, to have nothing but your own will and creativity against the world is something he could live by.

His grades actually aren’t at all bad for being such a troublemaker, which seems to surprise people but really he just catches on to the material very quickly.

For turning a bit more tight, can he perform a wingover? Like an aerial rolling somersault to disperse some  g for turns?

I'd say top speed for like 5 minutes before retiring a break since you can sprint a mile in 8 min or less. And he can get above obstacles

As for speed, I'm fine with your suggestion. Braking speed.. Him we he can slow him down with a counterforce too so at top speed he'd have to start slowing down lime the last 50 to 100 ft to stop safely.. And From fall he can push himself up weakly to basically Instinctively levitate or hover.

As for turning, yeah be likely needs some space or perform a modified wingover/somersault

Hello, my dear! So, a few questions to get this ball rolling:

1. Give me some ballpark figures on Andrew's speed. Divide this into three sections according to his mastery of the power (Ex. Beginner [when he had JUST gotten the power], Intermediate [moderate mastery of the power, but not yet full control or potential], and Advanced [complete mastery of the power and full extent of the power's potential)
2. What are some drawbacks of the power?
3. How long can he use the power before it exerts him too much?

Well, fortunately you don't have to worry about that until you get to phase two.

But in the meanwhile, you can go ahead and check out Vergil's Face Claim Archive for some candidates. He's got a lot of good options on there. :D

Beginner: About 60 miles per hour, a little more than twice as fast as the top speed of a non-powered human.
Intermediate: 120 miles per hour. Nearly as fast as most regular cars.
Advanced: 240 miles per hour. He can almost keep up with a sports car.
Drawbacks: inertia and momentum. Unless he has enough space to properly slow down, his momentum WILL fling him out of control in the direction he was going. He also can’t make sharp turns yet.
Duration: it depends on how fast he’s moving, but he can’t run for much longer than an average human.
Note to self: maybe some enhanced durability so that he can handle the g-force of his enhanced speed without breaking his legs every time he takes a step or throws a punch. Can I get some mild super-durability?

Well, to me personally, those ranges sound pretty good.

Though, as a duration, I would recommend that physical prowess and stamina would have a lot to do with it as well. Like, your character would actually need to train himself physically to built the stamina durability he needs to use and increase his power.

As for increased durability, I think that would be reasonable since we actually want your character to be able to use their power. :P
More questions:
1. How would he fare on slopes or uneven ground?
2. How would slippery surfaces affect him?
3. When would he be able to make those sharp turns, do you reckon?
4. Does he gain enhanced reaction/reflexes when he's running with super speed?

That’s EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT! thank you for suggesting it though.

1. Beginner: MEET THE AMAMZING ROLLING/CRASHING MAN, Intermediate: Difficult, but usually manageable, Advanced: No sweat.
2. Beginner: nyoom! Right into the wall. Intermediate: it’s 2/3 chance he’ll crash. Advanced: 1/4 chance of crashing.
3.probably intermediate
4. I think those would be an “always on” kinda deal. They’d get better if he trains them, like any other skill.

1 - 3. Fair enough! Be sure to include them into your final proposal/draft for Vergil! :D
4. Alrighty, just be careful not to let them overlap too much with one of our pre-existing character's power, which is basically enhanced processing speed that allows him to see things move slower than they really are (and also process/calculate/think faster than an average human) but not being physically capable of moving as fast. I'm asking you this because obviously Andrew's brain needs to be able to keep up with his body when he's doing a 120 on a crowded street. :P

Additionally, would his super speed increase his metabolism too? I remember The Flash saying that was a thing with super speed. :P

Super Speed, Mild Superdurability, Mildly Increased reaction time, Hyperactive metabolism.
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Beginner: Top speed; 60mph, can withstand a crash at this speed as long as the surface he hit was relatively soft (mattress, tarp, net), could easily slap a fly out of the air (It’s not actually that hard to do). “What is this turning you speak of?”. Slippery floors and sudden stops WILL trip him.
Intermediate: top speed; 100 mph, normal haymakers knock him on his ass but only barely bruise, Could probably dodge a bullet as long as they were using low velocity rounds and at least 200 feet away. Can reliably turn now, and doesn’t need a “landing strip” to slow down. Occasionally manages to keep his footing on a slippery surface.
Advanced: top speed; 150 mph, could probably walk off crashing into a stationary/slow moving object at top speed, like a trash can, a person, or a parked car. Undisputed dodgeball champion of the world. Usually keeps his footing on a slippery surface, but not always.

Him we he can slow him down with a counterforce too so at top speed he'd have to start slowing down lime the last 50 to 100 ft to stop safely.. And From fall he can push himself up weakly to basically Instinctively levitate or hover.

Fair enough. Once again, though, he'd have to practice braking to get it right. So at "Beginner Level," he's gonna be pretty clumsy in the air.

As an aside, guys, I'll be away from Monday to Tuesday; I'm flying back out to China, so I'll be gone for roughly 24 - 28 hours. In that time, Pen will handle all of you, get you all sorted and guide you through things. She'll get you all ready, and then I'll "Approve" you when I get back. I might have moments of being online as I transition through airports, but for the most part, you'll be in her hands. Be nice, she does bite. :P

Hey love, could you include the drawbacks as well?
