So I am curious what did you think? I don't want to give away too many spoilers but I loved it! It was amazingly well done (albeit is was a bit slow in the beginning). I thought it was gritty and raw and it tugged at my heartstrings.  My favorite lines would have to be: "Rebellion is Hope" and "I am one with the force and the force is with me"

I think the theme of hope is what we need right now, and I think this movie was a great way to end 2016.

So who else liked it? Or didn't like it?

I also loved it, though I have no idea really why! The parts alone do not make a good film when analysed, though for some reason I really enjoyed it. ^^;

Although I have a big crush on Jyn, so it may be that made me like the film more than I should have!  :D

Nico

I really enjoyed the movie! I loved that it was gritty and dark and not some love story.

GnothiSeauton

I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Right now I'm reading the novelization of the movie.  I did so with The Force Awakens before I saw it, and felt like I got a lot more out of the book, with the internal thoughts, the missing/removed scenes, etc.

Rogue One was a war movie, not an adventure movie...or maybe something more akin to The Seven Samurai, a hybrid war/adventure.  I liked the duo of Chirrut and Baze.  I wish there had been more Saw, or that he'd come with the group and gone out in a blaze of glory.  K2-SO was a great character.  Who didn't like the last 15 minutes of the movie, especially Darth Vader?

And Jyn?  Felicity Jones is good at her craft.  She's also gorgeous.  Seeing her in anything is enjoyable.  Star Wars continues to have badass petite female leads, which is right down my alley :P

I loved it.
Echoing the remarks of everyone else here,
I deeply enjoyed the different perspective.

It was very actiony, and exciting. The characters were well rounded.
I didn't like Darth Vader's one liner on his refuge planet.
But that's just nick-picking.

There were moments I didn't like,
but most of it was amazing.

Absolutely loved Jyn's character and personality. ^_^

All in all, everything I wanted in a star wars movie!!
Love is only over with both parties quit.

I thought it was decent, without quite getting to the point of being great. It didn't blow me away the way the Force Awakens did, though, granted, TFA had the advantage of being the first Star Wars movie in several decades that didn't suck.

What I remember best overall was Ben Mendelsohn's performance. I love that guy. I'm also grateful that

Forrest Whitaker's character was taken out quite early. I felt like I was watching Battlefield Earth, honestly.
. Most of the cast was a little forgettable to me. All in all, I felt like it was a decent way of filling the gap before the next main entry, and that they did a really good job of setting up A New Hope. I was honestly really surprised by how well that came together.

I loved it.. doesn't stop me from having fun with folks over it..

Wound up a co-work about how they were bringing George Lucas in to make a sequel.

Took him a hour to figure out what I said..  >:)

That's hilarious! You should have told him look out for the sequel in three years!

A bit late to the party:  I avoided anything at all to do with Rogue One and watched it with no ideas or preconceptions at all - wow. Just  - wow.  It took a while to get going to be honest and that lulled me into a false sense how this film was going to pan out.....

Perhaps I am still riding the high of it all, so perhaps looking back through rose tinted glasses, but, I thought this was a standout film - I am amazed that this captured

elements of all three of the original films
.  All the little details made for a treat for fans....the last 15 minutes was a rollercoaster of emotions

The poignant, accidental tribute was almost too much!

*laughs* I just sound as if I am easily pleased.

Now that the tor- I MEAN.

The DVD (the dvd's out, right...? right...?) out, I could finally watch it, and I'm SO effing glad it I spoiled the key feture of the film for myself because otherwise I might have bawled like a five years old.

I loved everything save maybe Jyn's 180° turn from "It's not a problem if you don't look up" to "REBELLIONS ARE BUILT ON HOPE!!! =D", but I really couldn't care less, and everyone who says something was wrong with it just doesn't get it.

I adored Chirrut and Baze - that was a given - but I had no idea I'd totally fall for Bodhi, too, and OMFG, don't get me started on K-2SO, he's the first droid in the entire franchise I love unconditionally.

And now, to the fix-it fics... Marks of the broken fandom.

In case anyone wants to RP, I can do Chirrut and Bodhi. HINT HINT.

Great movie!

I loved the last minutes. The scene with vader is worth the price of admission alone; that was amazing, and I need more of it in my life. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of new star wars films jedi. K2-SO was amazingly funny. Donnie Yen is great as always. Felicity Jones actually is a master of facial expressions, and unlike poor anakin doesn't have terrible writing to hold her back. Awesome film... but Forest Whittaker's character seemed completely wasted and useless.

Got the DVD the other day, and rewatched it yesterday and then episode IV directly after. I guess the ending of R1 don't really fit with "transmission sent to your ship" and the attempt to claim they just are a diplomatic ship. But it isn't the biggest continuity mistake in a Star Wars movie. So Rogue One is on my top the list of favorite SW movies, and a contender for the top position (I will need to re-watch it a few more times first ;D ).
