ASOIAF: The Blackfyre Rebellion - Open & Recruiting

With House of the Dragon back on the air I'm hoping there's some interest for RP set in the world of 'A Song of Ice and Fire.' In particular I'd like to run an all OC AU version of the Blackfyre Rebellion. Some set pieces will be the same to give the world some context but all the player characters will be originally and we'll be free to put our own spin on the story.

The game will split characters into two factions. The Loyalists supporting the Targaryen King and The Rebels supporting the Blackfyre King. That being said this will not be a PvP RP and players will be allowed (and even encouraged) to have characters on both sides. The idea here is to create a collaborative narrative with decisions in the movement of the plot being made to tell the most interesting story. As with any good ASOIAF story however the battles are not likely to be the meat & bones of the RP, we'll explore the two courts, the personal stories that develop as people conspire, politic, betray and pursue one another. 

Will you be 'GMing' the story?
Yes & no. This is a collaborative narrative and anyone who wishes to participate will be expected to contribute to the overall experience. I will set up a Discord chat which everyone can (optionally) join, we will use it to keep in contact, plot events, organise and world build but but ideally my GMing will be limited so I can also enjoy the RP. Preferably I will be more of a first among equals who might nudge things along or take the lead as we get started. If others wish to come forward and volunteer to help manage the game, it would be appreciated.

What are the character options?
As noted above the two major factions are The Loyalists led by House Targaryen & the King on the Iron Throne and The Rebels led by House Blackfyre & the King Who Bore the Sword. I would kindly ask that players consider character options that would lean into the main plot before looking to characters that might be more intended to explore life at the war camp outside the city, or someone inside the city in a sandbox element (though such characters would be welcome as later characters).

Some of the key characters include -
The King on the Iron Throne - The Targaryen King & only trueborn son of Aegon IV. Purged the court of his fathers corruption & brought Dorne into the fold via the marriage of his sister to the Prince of Dorne.
The King who Bore the Sword - The Blackfyre King. Charismatic & skilled in all matters of war. Wielding the Sword of Kings & often compared to Aegon the Conqueror. The preferred Heir of Aegon IV, and an increasing number of Lords left disenfranchised by his brothers new Dornish influences at court. -Reserved for Primarch
The Great Bastards - The bastards of Aegon IV sired by noblewomen & legitimized on his deathbed. Most grew to be highly impressive in their own right, earning nicknames such as 'Bloodraven,' 'Buttersteel' and 'Seastar.'
The Hand(s) of the King - The King dreams & tbe Hand builds or as the commonfolk say, the King shits and the Hand wipes. The right hand man and chief counselor to both Kings.
The Small Council(s) - Grand Maester, Master of Coin, Master of Law, Master of Ships, Master of Whisperers & Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Sometimes political appointments, sometimes strictly merit and very occasionally both. The most important advisors to the Crown.
The Prince & Princess of Dorne - Not everyone is happy with the privileges Dorne has acquired but nonetheless the Prince of Dorne (& his Targaryen Bride) is one of the Targaryen King's most powerful allies.
The Lords Paramount - The Blackfyre Rebellion will tear many of the Kingdoms in half with fighting but the Lords Paramount still possess the greatest sway, and may nudge their domain towards one side or the other.

This is a really cool idea. I love ASOIAF and this time period in particular. I don't know if I have the time/energy to commit, but either way I like the choice of time and the framing of it.

The second option. So my current plan is we start in King's Landing or at some event (a tournament being the obvious choice) where all of the characters can mingle though perhaps there's already the murmurings of discontent. Assuming we get a big board it'll then be easy enough to set up a thread for both the Loyalists in King's Landing & the Rebels (in a location to be determined) so they can plot/scheme/assess (and in classic ASOIAF fashion seduce) and we'll start playing through the war from there.

Confirming I'll take up the poor creature who's going to be stuck with Jahaerys "loves smooching" Blackfyre (WIP). Lyra Stark is a champ who needs to have words with her brother...

I may also consider a whimsical Dornish lass, Nisah Sand, down the line if I can figure a good reason to add her in.
