Timeless

I thinks this one is more fitting to the setting! The very colourful one is interesting and unique though.

Zaer Darkwail

Indeed, the colorful one is interesting and has a bit cyberpunk feel (could be a custom skin setup bought from the store to give more neon/wild colors to avatars in the game if desired to get cyberpunk sort vibes).

CurvyKitten

Yeah I figured the neon one would be a special skin at the store or something. I just thought it looked really cool honestly. Like ignore the clothes. Just the look of the demon girl itself is what I’m looking at.

Just don’t know which one to pick since the are all so nifty lol help!!!??

Zaer Darkwail

We haven't quite started yet, so if your quick you could get in as well :)

Zaer Darkwail

They could have tails and wings or their appearance be customized from purchased skin. However, GM wants not to use AI images with the characters. Yours quite clean but one of the hands is messed up and part of the image is warped along the wing spine.

MightyMaiden

Apologies, I missed the no AI mention in my hurry. I'll withdraw my character application.

Well, you can just replace the picture as the overall character appeared fine to me otherwise.

Thank you but I missed part of the requirements of the game and can't afford to commission something at this time.

Hey there! Sorry, but we're confused. You don't need to commission anything, and you could find other pictures that are not AI-generated to use for your character. If you need some options, I could find a few for you.

Zaer Darkwail

Yeah, no need to commission art for your character. There are plenty no-AI art pieces about succubi with wings and tails.

MightyMaiden

Really it's good. I should have read more closely and seen the no AI thing. I designed the character around the artwork I created.

Zaer Darkwail

Ah, understandable reason then that a new pic would not help unless create a brand new char on the new picture.

They all are rather interesting.  I kind of like this one just because it reminds me of like a young albedo.  The colorful one is nice though I'm not sure if it might have any mod issues just because it looks a little young in the face, I know it can be something they come down on when the face has a loli look.  Though I do agree with Timeless that second one does seem more character fitting, so it's a hard choice.

CurvyKitten

Ok I finally picked! I was waffling between the neon and this one really. But with it pointed out that the neon one might look a little young in a little iffy. So I’ll go with the dark horns one. I think her hair is a paler color as well.

The character looks great and glad you found a picture you could work with.  Feel free to post the sheet up in the group game approved characters.

I know I'm running a little late, but I'd like to put my hat in the ring as well.  I rather enjoy Wicked Ones, am a sucker for VRMMO isekai stuff, and with Halloween so recently behind us I've been craving some spooky monster stuff.  To put it another way, the pitch perfectly syncs up with my vibe lately.

I've gotta handle my tabletop game today, but I can properly art hunt for a submission tomorrow, assuming it's okay.  Don't want to delay game start for people who're actually on the ball.

There's no rush! The game only just started with people writing their character's introductions. But either way, we are still accepting new applicants even if the scenes are being pushed forward. We can always place characters to 'wake up' in different scenarios or places either way.

If you have any questions, just let us know!

GunmetalDreamer

Okay, got the initial pitch.

Player Character

PC Name:  Thana Mossgrave
Nickname: "Spooky" - endearing but annoying, "Twilight" - when she falls too in love with her own prose.
Age: 24 (and has been for three years)
Race: Dhampir
Calling: Ranger
Dark Impulse:  Cruel: You enjoy the pain and misery of others, going out of your way to make sure they experience it. Simply killing isn’t enough - that tends to be an end to the cruelty. But the face of someone watching those they care about die? That’s perfect. The pain of others helps you justify your own wretched existence

Description:
Thana does her best to put up a facade of dispassionate brooding, lurking in dark spaces or looming from high precipice's and watching what others are doing.  If one scratches the surface, however, they can find a roiling ocean of resentment and insecurity just looking for an outlet.  Thana spent most of her life being an outsider and an other, and has internalized the feeling that other people are just better than her.  It's this deep seated self loathing that fuels her sadistic impulses, to drag people down from their high places, to watch them scream, and sob, and most importantly beg for relief.  This passionate delight in inflicting cruel punishment has helped hone Thana into one of the premier trap crafters of the Obsidian Demons, and she was known to roam the swampy border marches of their domain to check the "passive defenses" with no small amount of anticipatory glee.

Thana holds a particularly deep loathing of true vampires, which is equal parts blaming her father for life of endless ostracism and suspicion, and the reminder that she is just a diluted example of their natural power.  Even as a member of the Obsidian Demons, she has never turned down an opportunity to slay the creatures.  The fact that her wardrobe is full of drops from those raids and dungeons surely has nothing to do with the fixation.

On a more positive note, Thana is one of the guild members who makes themselves most available to newer players.  Helping to fill out dungeon runs, organizing world PVP groups, fielding questions, or just helping people with their talent trees or gear crafting.  She pushes the notion that the Obsidian Demons are not a collection of back-biting vipers, but that they are a home for the kinds of people the outside world rejects.  This "Us vs The World" narrative is something she seems to genuinely believe, and she's invested in making sure that new players can find a better home with the Obsidian Demons than she found in the MIdnight House.

Background:
Thana is one of the newer recruits of the Obsidian Demons, joining their fold long after the Bloodied Blades stormed Kazahdoom and carved their names into the history books.  Thana's journey began near the start of the Hunt of the Scarlet Moon, a neophyte Ranger who fell in with a group of occultists and monster hunters.  They taught her much, a Hunter named Jacobal Miserati most of all, and as they spent time together Jacobal developed feelings for Thana.  Thana, however, rejected his advances.  Devastated, Jocabal accused her of seducing him, leading him on to learn the secrets of the Midnight House, and his fellows stood in solidarity with him.  Thana was cast out, hunted if she showed her face anywhere near the Midnight's House's domain again.

Huddled and injured in the wild reaches, betrayed by the first people she'd ever felt had accepted her, Thana rejected the humanity in her.  She wandered for a time, drifting from one motley crew to another, but was forced to leave each time they returned to civilization for fear of encountering her old comrades.  Without a steady way of getting invited into the raids on the dark lairs that were appearing across the land, Thana broadened her scope, hunting not just monsters and the undead, but other adventurers to earn the kind of gear necessary to hunt the newly arisen Strixian Lords.

It was while picking off the fleeing stragglers of a failed raid on Kazahdoom that Thana first encountered the Obsidian Demons; the pursuit party found her picking over the battlefield collecting adventurer tags to turn in as proof of her kills.  While initially tense, Thana found herself getting along with the Guild's sensibilities, and soon joined as a junior member.  That was years ago now, as one transformational crisis after another has rocked the world of Gehenna, Thana rose up the ranks and earned her spot at the table for Great Feast.

Core Abilities:  Pathfinding:  Your class has a knack for traversing the land, finding hidden trails, and knowing to avoid danger.  You take +1d on wander rolls.

Calling Abilities:
Feral Senses: Animal blood runs through your veins, causing your senses to extend twice as far as normal. You take +1d when tracking or surveying an area. You also gain a defense against surprise.

Trick Shots: You can pull off improbable (but not impossible) shots with a ranged weapon, like ricocheting a projectile off a wall or shooting through one target and hitting another. You ignore any circumstances towards effect from the difficulty, but you must explain how you pulled off the shot.

Flexibility Slot
Fallen Legion You control a minion pack with the companion and expendable upgrades, as well as one additional upgrade of your choice. You can spend Mana to call them forth from the depths. How did this group follow you to their demise?

Weapons & Specialty Items:
Vilefang:  An over/under double barreled crossbow whose twin bows make a cross in front of the wielder.  Originally available from a reputation vendor in Hunt of the Scarlet Moon, this one has been reforged to keep up with the rising level cap.

Gargoyle's Cloak:  Made from the wings of monstrous humanoid bats, when the wearer would take fall damage these flare out into the shape of bat wings and slow to a safe landing speed.  Useful for getting to otherwise unreachable sniper perches.

Mad Sage's Ring:  A keepsake of the Midnight House, this ring reveals mental influence on NPC's and sees through some environmental illusions, but intensifies their Dark Urge.  It was only really useful in zones designed around it, but the Perception Bonus helps detect stealthed Rogues and Traps so Thana has kept it around for World PVP.

Holy Water:  Consumable Item that creates an AoE of Radiant Damage to hurt the Undead and Demonics targets.  As  Dhampir, Thana doesn't qualify as Undead, and thus can safely carry these.

Midnight Hunter's Bolts:  Forged from Alchemical Silver and marked with sacred blessing, these bolts do additional damage to the undead, can strike the incorporeal, and slow the regeneration of werewolves.  Another secret taken from the Midnight House.

Pauldrons of Nevermoore:  Bought from a PVP Vendor, good stats, mostly just a status item.

Torment's Blessing:  An Amulet from a Raid against one of the Strixian Lords, provides the wearer a bonus based on how many beings are currently being tortured in a specified dungeon.  When the game was live, Thana's torture chamber was filled with simulacra of players she'd defeated in PVP and "captured" (they could respawn normally, but provided a drop item for her dungeon that would last a certain amount of time before the victim was "tortured to death").

Name:  Aaron Burnet
User Name:
Age: 32
Nationality:  American
Occupation: Failed novelist, thumbnail artist, part-time video editor, supported by other menial jobs
Personality:

Aaron is, ultimately, a pretty easy-going guy.  An artistic soul at heart, he really didn't need much to pursue his interests, and as such he was never particularly ambitious.  He's the kind of guy who wants to see others succeed, to see what new innovations will come, and finds that competitiveness stifles more ideas than it nurtures.

History:
Aaron comes from a pretty humble life.  His mother moving up to managing a gas station was one of the biggest events of his life, while his old man fell in and out of work in a way that made sure he always had at least one of his loving parents around.  They probably wouldn't have been able to make it work, if not for the fact that his grandfolks owned the land their mobile home had been parked on, but they did, even if the power or water sometimes got cut off for a late payment.

That said, Aaron learned to do without pretty early on.  His talent wasn't sport, but arts, and pencils and paper are notoriously cheap.  He might've been behind on the big trends in movies or games, but he fell in love with books, mostly the kind of quirky, self-published stuff grows all over the internet.  They helped feed his imagination, and as such he fell in with roleplaying games back in high school where he was an awkward but well received GM.

As he grew up though, his lack of ambition kind of caught up with him.  He moved from one low paying job to another, much like his father, earning just enough to afford his indulgences.  He wrote a few books, none of which made him much money, and did art commissions to help make up for the shortfalls in his check.  He was a late arrival to Gehenna, having bounced off a few MMO's before that and not really believing that VR would make that big a difference.  When the Hunt of the Scarlet Moon expansion pack came out though, it thematically resonated with some stuff he was kicking around in his mind and he decided to give it a shot on his refurbished console.

A total newbie, he joined the Midnight House because, well, he wanted to be associated with their aesthetic.  One one of the founding members caught feelings for his character though, Aaron had to break the news that he was a guy in RL, and that particular drama bomb detonated with a few megatons of force.  At first, he was frustrated at the constant griefing he was having to endure, but, ever an adaptable sort Aaron decided "What the heck, let's have a villain arc!"

Aaron might've been one of the Obsidian Demons most excited for Gehanna's new age.  He always felt like he'd missed out on the Guild's golden age, and the idea of being there at the start of whatever they'd build next was an exciting prospect.  Sure, the Dhampir race wouldn't be core to the new game, but there was a new class that he was looking forward to trying too, and it was an excuse to retire his angsty main for something new.

Current events have not at all gone according to plan ... but, Aaron is an adaptable kind of guy, and at least he's in it with people he trusts.

Character looks great.  I had posted it but not sure if it's gotten lost in everything but since you did have a minion power on yours, just a heads up that minions won't be available due the whole change and new world until the Obsidian Demons get some kind of relations with others in the world, weather that is diplomatic or subjection. lol  But once that connection is established should not be a problem.  So I think you are good to go, most everything fits in well with the world.

GunmetalDreamer

Ah, you're right.  I meant to actually send a PM and ask if that was a "Abilities will not work until X Plot Point" or a "Don't Take These Until X Plot Point" stipulation.    I didn't mind the first (Thana being a little behind the others is intentional), but I can see how grabbing minions tied in with the new world is better thematically.

I'll trade Fallen Legion out for Scout for the time being.

You did say "most everything fits in well", is there something you'd like me to fine tune a bit?  I'll admit to only having watched the first season of Overlord.

No, you had said this was your initial pitch so I wasn't sure if you were planning on doing more with it or not.  Though if you do change to Scout I can't say there will be a chance to change skills or upgrade for a bit where you'd learn new ones so up to you if you want to change it out or just wait until the guild makes contacts and have minions.  But otherwise I think everything looks good and if that's the only thing you want to change I'd say you are approved.  (And no worries on not having watched the first season, I'm just taking the concept and putting my own spin on it for a group game, while some aspects are pulling from the Overlord stuff, everything will be original as far as setting and such.)

GunmetalDreamer

No worries.  My intention for them had been to give me a few more eyes for scouting anyway; just taking the Scout ability allows me to fulfill that objective on my own.  I'll still probably pick them up later, but there'll be opportunities to tailor them a little better for their surroundings this way.

I'm going to make the assumption that Thana's dungeon is currently empty after the "host migration", feel free to correct me if that's wrong.

Correct, yeah, since those souls that would have been in there were digital echos they would have been purged and now would start being filled up in this world.

Player Character
PC Name: Lady Serena Steelheart of the Dread Citadel
Nickname: Dark Lady or Dark
Age: 239
Race: Damphir
Calling: Marauder
Dark Impulse: Excess: You are driven by the pursue of pleasures, be they of flesh and food, magical empowerment, or opulence of wealth. You seek to maintain your pleasures whatever the cost and constantly seek new and varied experiences to add to your excesses.

Description: Originally a human Serena was set to be a female Dark Lord of the old school. The kind that led massive armies of all manner of creatures but wasn't afraid to stride into the fray personally with implacable defenses and brute force! When the Damphir race was unlocked she completed a lengthy, difficult, and expensive quest line to unlock a race change to one more appropriate for a Dark Lord.

A comparatively cheap cosmetic item from the cash shop allows Serena to pretend to be human and walk around in daylight unimpeded, hiding her fangs and giving her a bit of a tan so that a simple equipment change completes the disguise. Something she put to great effect traveling among both 'good' and 'evil' guilds and lands seeking any information on equipment that could give her more or better minions or grant her better burst damage or sustain to advance her goal of becoming a one woman raid boss with a personal army!

Serena presents herself as a noble of the Aristocracy of the Night, born of an alliance marriage with the demon via a succubus, who demands only the best from her subjects and for herself. However she also ensures that her minions are well equipped and trained, desiring quantity and quality rather then mere fodder. She demands her more powerful servants be prepared to serve her personally as well as on the battlefield. She also enjoys flirting outrageously with her peers, allies and rivals alike.

After jointing the Obsidian Demons Serena focused on gathering materials for building and upgrading support rooms within the guild. Barracks, armor and weapon smiths, mustering halls, summoning halls, training halls and more all offered minor but cumulative benefits to the Guild's minion and occasionally even lesser benefits to the players themselves.

Background: Born a mixed gender child to a vampire father and a succubus mother as part of a marriage alliance Lady Selena was trained from childhood in the martial arts of her father, only for the... 'hungers' of her mother to manifest as she reached adulthood, even hungering for bodily fluids beside blood at times! Fortunately she inherited her mother's beauty and charisma as well, attracting both lovers and followers with ease. Her idyllic life came to a sudden end when battle and treachery slew her parents and broke the alliance that had brought them together. Hunted now by both sides, and rejected by the so called forces of 'light', she and her followers fought their way across the land until they finally encountered the Obsidian Demons. Offered shelter and a place to stay and recover Selena has sworn to repay this kindness by providing elite warriors and her own axe to the guild. Rebuilding the facilities of her lost citadel has been central to this effort.

Weapons & Specialty Items:

Lifedrinking Axe of Mana: This potent magical weapon drinks the blood of it's victims to restore the mana of it's wielder. (Kept in inventory but probably not equipped during final gathering.)

Ancient Hydrablood Armor: This armor was forged with powdered ancient hydra bone alloyed into the metal and then quenched in an ancient hydra's blood. When out of combat it swiftly regenerates the wearer's health allowing incredible sustain so long as even short breaks can be arranged.

Ring of Weapon Return: When attuned to a chosen weapon the wearer can recall their weapon to their hand with only a minor expenditure of mana, allowing weapons to be thrown at distant foes or a disarming strike to be turned back on a foe.

Cloak of the Bloody Empress: This finely woven  cloak of silk from giant demonic spiders, alchemically treated to preserve it's strength, is dyed deep crimson and back and then stitched with arcane and demonic runes in thread of gold. It cleans and repairs itself back to it's pristine appearance whether stained with demonic ichor or burnt by dragon's fire. Further this priceless cloak moves to it's wearer's will, billowing dramatically, concealing the wearer's movements in combat, shielding inclement weather, or even acting as a separate limb to grab items or grapple a foe.

Name: Kyle Shenfield
User Name: Selena
Age: 32
Nationality: American (shared)
Occupation: Accountant (shared)
Personality: Precise | Diligent | Lonely | Logical | Horny

History: Kyle started playing Gehenna Online in high school after buying the equipment with the money from his part time job instead of a car. He continued to prioritize the game over real life social experiences such as school dances or prom and only his consistently high grades prevented parental interference.

Once in college he initially pursued computer science for a career only to find all the jobs demanded years if experience, even for supposedly 'entry level' positions. Switching to accounting he eventually got both a degree and a digital remote accounting position that mostly focused on maintaining proper records for tax season with a yearly change of pace to actually do the taxes. Moving out to an apartment of his own he soon found that his lack of a social life in high school and remote position made it hard to meet people once out on his own and resulted in even more time and money invested in Gehenna Online as a result of a lack of competing demands on his resources. As such the impending shut down was regarded with no little horror and a burning desire to enjoy every last moment in the world and life he'd come to treasure more then his own boring existence.

This is a work in progress as I've not even started looking at items and need GM oversight and approval for the rare class and alternative Dark Impulse. Suggestions and feedback would be welcome.

Player Character
PC Name: Lady Serena Steelheart of the Dread Citadel
Nickname: Dark Lady or Dark
Age: 239
Race: Damphir
Calling: Dark Lord
Dark Impulse: Lustful?: You are driven by the pursue of pleasures, be they of flesh and food, magical empowerment, or opulence of wealth. You seek to maintain your pleasures whatever the cost and constantly seek new and varied experiences to add to your excesses.

Description: Originally a human Serena was set to be a female Dark Lord of the old school. The kind that led massive armies of all manner of creatures but wasn't afraid to stride into the fray personally with dark magic and brute force!

Something she put to great effect traveling among both 'good' and 'evil' guilds and lands seeking any information that could give her more or better minions or improve her mingling of melee combat and dark magic to advance her goal of becoming a one woman raid boss with a personal army!

Eventually, after literal years of playing, she managed to track down and complete the prerequisites to switch to the 'Dark Lord' class. As a hybrid melee/magic class that focused on buffing, debuffing, and life-steal auras combined with a humaniod focused 'pet class' it was perfect for goals.

A mixed gender token from the cash shop ensured that she'd be ready to play with anyone who dared take her up on her offers but, perhaps do to the limitations of the dive equipment, so far none have.

Background: Born to a vampire father and a succubus mother as part of a marriage alliance Lady Selena was trained from childhood in the martial arts of her father, only for the...

The custom class is not something I'm doing since I'm using a specific system in the background and it wouldn't match up with the idea of the base idea, that these are all classes picked as part of character creation or put in with expansions.  We have a list of classes here and it would need to come from there.  And while I have no problem with a custom dark impulse, this one wouldn't seem to fit within the context of something that would have been in a public MMO.
