Not going by the books in which other elder characters have featured as far as their own builds? Or.. really the highly swingy way combat is rolled in storyteller? Or that the character isn't really all that hard to ambush murder by a pack of ancillae where so long as the one of them really went for obfuscate, the entirety of said pack can crash down on him retribution and ability to defend free for an entire round?

I'm really not appreciating the snark/contempt mixture.

Well I apologize -- I didn't think my particular stance was made clear before, and my goal was to explain where the reactions came from. Otherwise I would have stayed quiet.

I'm not really looking to have an internet debate about relative canonical elder character strengths and how easily someone can be deaded in Vampire the Masquerade, which is where this seems to be going, and this was an abrasive enough experience of being gang jumped all over to something that I'd asked the gm "is this okay to post then as an example for other people for creating an older character for this?" before posting it. My intent was not "I rock, and roll, all night, sweet suzy", it was "example of making an elder for this game" in a working assumption other people were as well.

I will be coming up with character creation rules, but that will be for NEWBIE characters. People in power need to be stronger then most, hence why I'm allowing Elders to be created as well.

That could be possible. So every player who does play an Elder has to also play a neonate or other PC that fits the character creation rules.

It might be an option to do it that way and avoid creating a chasm between the player characters otherwise? As elders rarely hang out with neonates, and vice versa?

If I make a second character, it'll probably be a mortal. I have hankerings to play a really scruffy cismale police officer faced with the coupled horrors of the rampant crime of Sin City and the supernatural forces that lurk in its depths. 

(Only reason I probably won't jump on an elder character is that I play 'em in the game I ST, so I'm getting to be a little different here)

As much as I love playing elders, I also enjoy playing neonates, ghouls and mortals. As they say 'the journey is half the fun'

Okay, seeing as literally all my characters will be NPCs (I might make a mortal to join in the fun later, not sure.), all Elders will also be NPCs.

I'll figure out creation rules when I get a chance and post them here for discussion.

Does anyone think 100 XP at creation is too much or should it be lowered to 50?

I like that 0 - 100 range! We don't have to use it all, but if anyone wants to show their character already has some experience as a walking corpse they'll have the opportunity to do so.

The XP cost of things will be whatever they are in the core rules themselves. That's one thing I won't be messing with.
