Thanks!

Really does need to be a site that lists exactly what comes with what box, picture and listed. Almost bought a thing of blood angels vanguard vets only to find "lol. No infermo pistols for you, despite them being a big reason why you bought it!"

Some of the new releases do list the weapons on the sprue in the description for their page on the site, though yeah I do believe that's how Geedubs get their money in. For example I can get 2 Blight Launchers in a Plague Marine squad, though the new 7-man kit only comes with one, so I'd need to buy the 3-man easy-fit box to get the 2nd one.

8th edition has been out for some time now and we already have Chapter Approved out now tweaking the army lists now, what are people's thoughts here for those playing so far?

My own is of some admitted slight dismay that competitive lists seem to basically fall into 'Imperial Guard' style lists, ie blobs of cheap troops with the big tanks in... Which is a bit crap for Chaos as cultists are way too squishy to be anything but a screen and whilst Plague Marines in my DG army are good foot soldiers, they aren't as tanky as I like. Still, with point reductions and Geedubs actively trying to wipe out spam-meta now, things are better than they have been for some time I feel.
One thing I was surprised at was Ork Boyz have had a price drop, so the Green Tide has just got scarier to face, whilst at least Conscripts got the nerf to stop the cheese with them.

If you're only after a small amount of stuff for a conversion, bits sites are probably your best bet.

I just need to find one selling sassy nurgling on it's own :)

Not really 40k related, though after playing some successful games of Skirmish with my Beastman warband using proxy models, I was sad to see their line has been near squatted online at Geedub's store. It doesn't seem like it's only for rebasing like the transition from Lizardmen to Seraphon boxes either.  :-(

Well, I've made a Wood Elf warband and a Dark Elf warband so if I have good games with them in proxy, I'll buy for them instead. Plan being I may go ahead and grab Path to Glory in order to not buy boxes of 10 models and use only 2 of them from each one.  :D

Inferno pistols and hand flamers :T ehen i do find a IP its like 5 dollars a single gun, and only place i found hand flamers was from germany.

Ive played a couple games and liked it. My friend plays a ig group specializing with a vulture gunship, 2 avengers, a couple chimera, and a whole mess of IG, and i managed to take him down pretty well with my own messily designed way to mixxed up force.

You mentioned you play Blood Angels, TLO, is that your regular force or a new one you've begun due to the Codex release?

I'm curious to know what armies everyone plays.  :-)

I experimented a bit in 7th to find who I did well with, currently Death Guard is my only army and I'm still tweaking at it, as I want to go hit 1000pts (and get myself a Daemon Prince in there) and also I need to retotal points now that Chapter Approved has changed some things.

My main goal hobby-wise is to get to a 1000pts Battallion detachment of DG and then at 1500pts I'm wanting to add in Mortarion as an added Super-Heavy Auxiliary added in.

HairyHeretic

You could probably convert hand flamers. Take a bolt pistol, take off the ammo clip and greenstuff a flamer fuel canister.

If you're not worried about them being official GW bits (which outside of a GW tourny ought not to be a concern), check out some of the 3rd party sites like PuppetsWar, Kromlech or Anvil Industries

Chaos mostly.

I have my own renegades (The Dire Wolves) which I've played since 2nd ed, but mostly shelved these days. I also have World Eaters, Death Guard and most recently the Night Lords.

I'm also tempted to build up an Alpha Legion force using the new Primaris marines :)

As well as that I have IG, and technically Space Wolves (though that's my Dire Wolves pulling double duty).

I have a pile of Orks that were intended to be an Evil Suns force from back in 5th ed (I think), which never really got off the ground.

Anyone want to buy a few hundred orks? :)

HairyHeretic: Cool idea! l'll have to give that a shot,

Wanderer: oroginally i went with raven guard, bit friend suggested i try blood angels as i do well with more melee minded play. That said im gonna do side force of rangey ravens, use their master of shadows to insert heavy weapon squads about, and then drop in a couple slasher units. Maybe combined force of angels and crows,.

Oh, heh, and my heavy hitter is my imperial knight. Just upgraded with thunder gauntlet, and one of my bucket list items is to kill one of my friends tanks with it, then throe said tank at his fighter jets... ;3

I'm playing a Raven Guard in a local Deathwatch campaign, built for stealth and sniping. He rounds the team out nicely, as we have a pair of assault marines (Space Wolf with lightning claws and Black Templar), a Salamander devastator with at least 3 different flamers, and an Imperial Fists successor chapter apothecary, who knows, well, everything :) There was also a Dark Angels librarian, but they left just before I joined.

Your Salamander is slacking off, if he only has 3 flamers. ;D He should have a heavy flamer, two regular flamers to dual-wield at short range, and two hand flamers to dual-wield in melee. Plus a multi-melta, twin meltaguns, and two inferno pistols.

HairyHeretic

At least 3. I'm not sure how many he has off the top of my head :)

Got me mid-edit. He also needs meltaguns.

HairyHeretic

I think he has a special one. Tri flame vambrace or something? I know he murderises hordes with it. The last mission, we invaded a tyranid cruiser and carried a shipkiller warhead into one of it's vital chambers. I'm pretty sure he accounted for hundreds of gaunts along the way.

He tends to specialise in hordes. The Space Wolf does hordes pretty good with the claws as well, but also does well against solo targets. The Black Templar and other Son of Dorn work better against bosses up close, while my sniper hits those from a distance.

My Rogue Trader game is about to hit its climactic final-boss fight of the entire campaign next week, or the week after if we skip because Christmas Eve. I've also got a sniper, so it's nice to see someone who appreciates the intelligent way of fighting things in 40k - overwhelming firepower from a safe distance.

HairyHeretic

And also fighting smart, as opposed to brute force.

"That tube seems to be feeding something down into the Tervigon, nutrients or eggs or something?"
"Yeah."
"And it's nowhere near as heavily armoured as the Tervigon itself, is it?"
"No. Why?"
*loads a hellfire round into the stalker bolter*
"I have an idea."  >:)

I use an autocannon, myself, with five different types of ammo - Slug, High-Explosive, Armor-Piercing, Blessed, and Psybane - depending on my target.

Brute Force is the realm of our Tech-Priest,with his Synthetic Muscles and Power Fist going for a One Punch Man build. I think he can dish out 50+ in a hit if he connects. Our Voidmaster is another sniper with a souped-up Vindicare rifle, our Rogue Trader goes melee with lightning claws. Our Eldar Warlock mostly just fails his Focus checks so far.

I could be tempted to dust off my Deathwatch pdf if a system game appears here, maybe.  ::)

Playing or running? :)

Stats-wise I think the most amusing thing I've done so far is out-stealthed a Lictor :)

I managed to lob a frag grenade onto where it was hiding. Didn't kill it, but revealed it well enough for the others to gun it down before it jumped me :)

I think my greatest moment was one-shotting a Keeper of Secrets, landing three autocannon hits to the face and rolling (10,10,9) for damage while using Pyre-Flame shells, followed by running around in circles and dodging its claws until the holy fire burnt it down. We're using the modified combat rules introduced in OW, so most of my tactics involve ninja-flipping backwards away from a melee enemy then putting autocannon slugs into their gut at point blank range.

Hehe, my main forces for my BA is a vanguard vets, 5 guys with thunder hammers and inferno pistols for antivehicle, and another vv with hand flamers and chainswords.

Chain boyz doing 20 melee attacks, (though mught make them a death company..) and 5d3 flamer shots, other guys getting 15 thunder hammer attacks, the option to fall back, and then unload with inferno pistols..

Hammers come in and crack open his tanks, and then my chainers tske care of troops,

And i think for proper salamanders you need the proper melta/flamer combi weapon. To superheat the fire as you shoot it.

Oh, playing for sure. I've only GMed a few games and none with the 40k system, though I very nearly did run an Adeptus Evangelion game that didn't get so far.

On the miniatures side, I've only been in smaller games (500-750) with my Death Guard, recently added a Helbrute with Twin-Las before Chapter Approved came out. Having Inexorable Advance and Crazed makes him a pretty good beat stick. My friend has made the mistake, though sadly learned from it of getting things up close versus my Plaguecaster, which with Suppurating Plate is a mortal wound machine.

My force is fairly small, I have Plague Marines as my main lads, with Plasgun-Champions and Blight Launchers to get some killy in. I have also a Cultist squad with autopistols and sharp sticks in a Rhino (covered in ALL THE GUNZ) to hassle gunlines.

Before Chapter Approved I had 750pts like this;

Plaguecaster in Suppurating Plate (110pts)

Helbrute with Fist and Twin-Las (157pts)

2 x seven-man Plague Marines with Plasmagun Champs and 2 Blight Launchers in each (2 x 174 = 348pts)

1 x 10-man Cultist squad with autopistols (I got a Toughest Girls Commisaar babe as their Champion, nicknamed 'Alexis' after the EgoQueen herself ^^) (40pts)

1 x Rhino w/ Havoc Launcher plus bonus combi-flamer (94pts)

Total = 794pts.

I need to retotal now I have the newer points from Chapter Approved though, so the above is gonna change for the new year and build up to 1000pts too. I'm needing a 2nd HQ for the upgrade to Battallion, which I'll want atm a Daemon Prince for. I could do with some Fast Attacks though and the Plaguehauler tank is tempting me yet also.
