1 Platinum Piece converts into 10 gold pieces. 1 Gold Piece converts into 10 silver pieces. 1 Silver Piece converts into 10 copper peices.

Silver can be freely exchanged for copper peices, but gold pieces are generally only accepted as equivelent to 9 silver pieces on purchases smaller than 100 silver pieces. (this is the rate that money changers give) Platinum pieces are only accepted as 8 gold pieces on purchases smaller than 10,000gp. All coins weigh 1/10th of a pound.

In Elven lands, polished Moonstones are used as 50gp pieces, while in other lands, they can be exchanged for 35gp. In wealthy coastal regions, pearls are used as 250gp pieces, falling in value to 180gp in lands where the custom isn't present. Dwarves are known to use flawed diamonds to pay for magical arms and armor, valuing them at 1,000gp each. Outside dwarven lands, the diamond pieces are worth only 650gp.
