You are right. Just tried to make one.... Okay. So Tauren Priest it is.

That's three Horde though. Diktatr, you have any preferences on class and race?

For races my preferences right now would be human, orc or night elf. My favourites are Forsaken, but I've played them in-game so much that I'd rather try something else here.

Though In all seriousness. This looks quite interesting, though I'll confess that I never once played Warcraft, and only saw the movie once.  So my interest is a bit tentative at the moment.

Okay if you have only seen the movie but still want to play.... Forget everything you have seen in the movie. It was an abomination :)

Think I'll be going a paladin then. Can heal and do some beat-up when necessary.

*Mentally takes note of all the pen and paper World of Warcraft books before sighing* You're definitely doing freeform... I miss using those books... I might be interested still just need to get over my foolish assumption.

Dashenka

Yes going to make up my own quests and all but the lore will basically be where World of Warcraft: Legion ends.

How many people are you looking to recruit? Just five?

Aiden

or

Dk vs Warrior, I guess it will come down to what our other DPS are. I won't roll a DK if we have a DPS DK

The one on the right makes me think of Thrall. Thrall is so cool.

Dashenka

No we can have a larger group than 5 :)

Start thinking about characters guys. I'll get an official OOC up tomorrow with a character sheet.

So I was curious, does the Tauren priest follow the heretical Old Gods(Sorry "The Sun") or the Holy Light?

I do have a tentative interest in this game but this question is a big one.

Aiden

A priest needs to have faith and though them the light or shadow shines or clouds through them.

For a Tuaren, it is likely they study and revere the earth mother

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Tauren#Customs

For the tauren, nature is the mother of the world, and their faith holds a deep and resonant tone within their hearts. Tauren are connected to the ebb and flow of the world. They revere the spirits of the land and of their ancestors, and they turn to these spirits for wisdom and guidance. This connection manifests in their deeply animistic culture, where druids and shamans stand side by side with warriors and hunters. Tauren do not see a separation between the veneration of nature and the hunt; to hunt is to honor the spirits of nature.[108]

Spiritual Hierarchy and Tauren Titles
The tauren possess a structure of spiritual hierarchy. The most talented and powerful shaman traditionally hold positions of power, though rulership is not limited to spellcasters. Shaman interpret the voice of the Earth Mother and the wishes of the ancestors; sometimes these interpretations lead to the rise of hunters and warriors in the tribe. Such is the case with Cairne Bloodhoof, the former chieftain. The leader of a tribe uses the title "chief" and/or "chieftain." The three most powerful healers in the tribe support the chief, the most powerful of whom takes the title "seer." A chief generally consults his seer and her two contemporaries before making a decision, but this consultation is not required. The leader of the United Tauren Tribes — Baine Bloodhoof, these days — also uses the title "chieftain." During council meetings, chiefs make recommendations to the chieftain, but again the final decision is the chieftain’s alone to make. "Chief," "chieftain", and "seer" are genderless titles. Aged female shaman sometimes take the title of "crone" or "elder crone", which others use as a sign of respect.[111]

Aiden

That is not to say they are required to follow this path, their power may come from other sources, but this is the majority.

Metro Mech

I was going to do the mother earth since it would fit the tauren after all. I mean what else are they really going to worship when that dominates most aspects of their life?

Well the whole reason I asked because of a certain Expansion the normal Tauren beliefs got turned on their head. "Supposedly" because a certain sect of the Tauren revere "The Sun" (much like how the Night Elves revere the Moon) they added Priests and Pallies to their list of classes. So these supposed "Sunwalkers" are why Tauren have Pallies and Priests. Which the reason(read lame excuse) they gave for giving them the class was that because the Sun is a fount of light and warmth and bunch of other truck load of dumb they can become paladins.

I do apologize for this, it's been a major contention point for me ever since that piece of stupid came out back in the X-pac of Stupidness. I know I am raging out about this part and such, but for someone like me who immerse themselves in the Lore and such this is kind of a blasphemy of the developers at Blizzard(read publishers Activision) wanting something and the head of the lore department signing off(read paid off) on it.

As for what type of character I was looking at playing. Either a Human, BE or if the GM would have allow it a High Elf Paladin going Ret Spec. (I loves me dem pretty glowing blue eyes)

Gilgameshian

I mean, technically the worship "The Sun" aka An'she but it's basically the Light. Hell, most of them in-game say "the Light" as far as I recall. And while I could talk about how I think the change/introduction wasn't that bad personally (I mean the Sun is a big part of nature so by revering nature it does make a level of sense for some to worship the sun) it doesn't matter. While most Tauren priests and paladins subscribe to the An'she/Sun God there's nothing to say you can't play a Paladin/Priest who follows the traditional Light.

Although nowadays the Light isn't as "Good" as they used to be. Oh, Blizzard and the roller coaster of Lore.

I cannot answer the Tauren question as I have no experience with Cows or Horde in general. I'm guessing it's one of the same issues I have against Trolls and Worgen being Druids. Makes no sense to me.

That said, what Gilgameshian, Aiden en Metro Mech said, is something that is plausible enough.

As for the character, I rejected a Naga at first and said playable races only. So with that in mind, I think a High Elf is not good. There's just so few in WoW at the moment and they are not a playable race.

Given the latest expansion though I would allow a Shal'Dorei, but not a Quel'dorei.

Thank you for the chime in Dash. Truth be told I kind of suspected my idea for a High Elf character would be shot down. As for believing and such...honestly while it sounds plausible it still kind of runs into the old problem of the fact that it was specifically stated that a paladin's power comes directly from the Holy Light. Hence why I made mention of it being used by the old gods since...well while I putzing around on a quest in one of the zones for the X-pac of Stupidness I noticed the bad guys were using abilities that somewhat mirrored my own. (F.Y.I. I run an Ally Pally.  ;D )) So that's why I drew the conclusion and such. Anyway all that aside if you were going to play a priest of the Earth Mother I don't exactly have issues with that part.

Ironically the "Healer" Class from the Swords and Sorcery D20 game covered Priests, Druids and Shamens all in one go.

As for my character it's now a toss-up for Human or BE pally.

The tauren pallys (sunwalkers) don't exactly fight with identical abilities and powers as that of human pallies. The only reason they have the same abilities in game, is because it would be inconvenient and time-consuming tor Blizz to create new animations and names just for one race-class combo.

As for high elves, I wouldn't mind them being played here.

Dashenka

I agree that it stands to reason for High Elves to be more common in the game. But I have to draw a line somewhere :) I rejected Naga's for not being a playable race, so I have to be consistent and reject a Quel'Dorei for the same reason.

Maybe in the next expansion we'll be able to play sub races. It's a rumour I have heard on the internet. Which would only kind of make sense for Elves. But we're not there yet.

Another thing I would like to mention or discuss is the 'mobs' our champions might run into. One of the things I really want to emphasis is that some (or most) of the more mundane quests we'll get send on, will be in the lower regions of Azeroth. Like Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Badlands, Tanaris, etc. Reason for this is because I love all those differences in environment and I think Blizzard is doing way too little with this.

A short, heavily armoured Dwarf, born and raised in the snowy peaks of Dun Morogh will struggle with the heat of the Tanaris Desert or the humidity of the Un'Goro Crater and a scarcily clad Blood Elf, raised in Silvermoon City will struggle with the cold of the Northend continent. I would like that to be an aspect of the game.

As for the level of the mobs, should we level them with our characters, or keep them at the levels their regions represent (my preference). Our characters will all be 'lvl 110'.

If there is still space I am interested. I'm reading through in detail to see what races and classes have as of yet been spoken for and will update with what I'd add to the game. Sadly my knowledge of warcraft is extensive and I'll have no problem working something up like a champion. I'll bookmark, speak for what race/class I'd be interested in, and would love to be considered if it's still possible.
