I just picture Lord Farquaad:

Sara Nilsson

Saw a new trump flag when I took a walk.

Trump

No more bullshit

2020

And I just burst out laughing. The most bullshit admin ever and THAT is their new slogan?!

Haibane

Right now in this world today one shouldn't really laugh at the Farquaad meme but I couldn't help it.

@Sara Nilsson: perhaps because the BS will end on 1st January?

TheGlyphstone

Doubtful, I'm said to say. He has made his stamp on the party too thoroughly, his influence will persist long after he's deposed...and that's entirely leaving out how he will be tweeting until the day he dies, dominating news even without the Presidency.

Saw this comment posted on Youtube yesterday:

"How is Trump like a Jack-0-Lantern?
He's Orange on the outside; empty on the inside
and needs to be thrown out early in November."

The analogy between Trump and a Halloween pumpkin had struck me too, the day before, so I had actually posted "President Whacko Lantern" at some other video... :)

So, today, the Commander in Tweet posted a picture of a yard full of 'Trump for President' signs, with a comment of 'Wow - Thank you! #MAGA'

However, if you look in the background, there's another sign.

But better yet, a little calendar-fu identifies this as Super Tuesday....  2016.  For the Republican primary.

Look who's talking? ;)

Trump's old crony and partner-in-crime Roger Stone, who was hauled out of jail by his old friend, now urges Trump not to recognize any defeat in November. If the election comes out against you, buddy, then you should just declare Martial Law (he really means a national state of siege) and proclaim yourself Military Dictator.  C:) Naturally, one of the first moves would be to jail chief adversaries of the Trump regime, like the Clintons and Mark Zukerberg - probably also Joe Biden. "the Squad" and Nancy Pelosi.  Who needs a parliament when you have declared martial autocracy?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/13/roger-stone-to-donald-trump-bring-in-martial-law-if-you-lose-election

I really hope the Biden campaign will pick this up, hammer Trump with it and drive home that a vote for Trump is a vote for Roger Stone, and hence for a likely state of martial law, executions and show trials etc. A vote for lawless tyranny.

"Stone told Jones Trump should consider invoking the Insurrection Act and arresting the Clintons, former Senate majority leader Harry Reid, Zuckerberg, Tim Cook of Apple and “anybody else who can be proven to be involved in illegal activity”. ”

So Trump should have himself arrested.  ::)

What is going through the head of someone like Stone to say things like that? Its pure madness. The guy is suggesting complete lawlessness. It's as though he's not in the USA but in Belarus, or Argentina in the 1970s or 1980s. I have a very bad feeling about November 3rd, I honestly think there will be bloodshed.

Been saying that for months, unfortunately. There is a greater than zero chance Trump will lose and make a power grab (or,s ensing his defeat, act slightly before the end). Not only that, but America has a 'history' of "October Surprises", where something happens that has an impact on elections.

Quote
In American political jargon, an October surprise is a news event deliberately created or timed or sometimes occurring spontaneously to influence the outcome of an election, particularly one for the U.S. presidency.

I believe this election's October Surprise will be heavily violent.

Because whether it happens or doesn't, Stone won't suffer the consequences. He's stirring shit up to boost his own signal-to-noise, what happens to the country isn't as important as whether Roger Stone can get something from it.

There's a problem with doing that. It is in my opinion the worst thing to do as it can make the naysayers of Trump administration dismiss and retort by saying look at how the left is being so goddammit paranoid. In short Stone's words are just meant to entrap the media and those that oppose Trump into making themselves look radical. Dare I say even the protests distract from the bigger picture because it is something Fox and Trump can latch onto. To say, look at how ridiculous these people are being. They'd rather talk about anything else than COVID casualties or cases.

It distracts from the bigger points of economic crashing and being up to 190,000+ dead. Everyone remembers 9/11 where 2,997 died and 6,000+ were injured. Roughly 63 times more dead. All because of a so called Chinese Hoax. All because of a leader whom rather push a narrative and keep us in the dark about a legitimate threat instead of the ones he fabricates than do his job.

I am so sick of this year, this administration's ineptitude and the election year showing where their priorities are. Hopefully this man's excuse for a presidency is given the accolades it truly deserves and he is humiliated beyond belief. God knows how insufferable the next four years will be if he still won, of which is my real fear.

But Trump and Roger Strone are really birds of a feather in many ways. They're siamese twins on so many levels - their ideas about politics, their gung-ho racism, their way of handling the media, their flamboyant lifestyle, the whole "billionaire romanticism" thing, their complete disregard for any ideas of truth and fair play. And they have been friends all their lives.

Stone is a bit more unhinged sometimes, but they basically speak the same language and have the same ideas. Before Steve Bannon discovered Trump, Roger Stone was one of his most important links to the alt-right environment. And the point that Trump would contemplate a violent, bloody coup d'état if he fears that he won't win the election in any credible way is quite logical from his past track record. It fits in with how he has behaved and talked before. His entire chatter about "Obamagate" is basically a thinly veiled accusation that obama and Hillary Clinton tried to sabotage him by means of a kind of background coup, both before and after the 2016 election.

Telling Trump that "you have to take responsibility for what your old buddy Roger Stone says as advice to you, you should clearly disavow it or everyone will think that these are also your ideas, your game plan" is completely legitimate, it's a valid point.  These two guys are using the same talking points, again and again.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/13/trump-bay-of-pigs-award-florida-cuba-biden

QuoteAttacking Joe Biden and seeking to exploit reports that his rival is struggling with Latino voters, Donald Trump boasted on Sunday of receiving “the highly honoured Bay of Pigs Award” from Cuban Americans in the battleground state of Florida.

Perhaps inevitably, and to the glee of the internet, no such award exists.

Considering the history behind bay of pigs....

Oniya

I was telling Little Oni about that, and her first words were 'Wasn't the Bay of Pigs thing an epic failure?'

The nineteen-year-old gets it.   ;D

From the Guardian article Sara Nilsson linked to:

"Trump has a well-documented habit of claiming to have received awards and honours which do not exist or which he has never been given. Famously, the president has displayed a fake Time magazine cover at his golf clubs."

This made me think of similarities to the way Idi Amin behaved, awarding himself Britain's Victoria Cross for example. It's another sign of extreme narcissism.

That really is the most bizarre thing. Why would he bother using a fake Time magazine cover, when there was a perfectly authentic cover from back in 1989 that he could have used:

http://content.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,19890116,00.html

Or was the headline on that cover not flattering enough to his ego?

Göring's famously self-designed fantasy uniforms come to mind, too... :) The man was head of the Luftwaffe and an old ace pilot from WW1, but this didn't seem to be enough for him.

I think its a well-known psychological path these personalities tread. Its somewhat akin to the mental process serial killers follow. You have one level of "success" and it satisfies for a while but then you need more... and more...

The pros- and cons- aside I do feel that Trump may well rank as the most unfit POTUS there has ever been. I think he out-does Nixon who was pretty awful. I know that in the 1870s Grant's presidency was deeply corrupt but at least as a personality Grant wasn't so terrible.
