It should be noted that Melania Trump stated her platform as First Lady would be to stop internet bullying.

Let. That. Sink. In.

Oh dear. Marine Le Penn of the French National Front is congratulating Trump on winning.

I am not feeling fine though
Neither do I. Come inauguration day for president Trump I'll be stocking up on canned food and batteries, cause I half expect Russia to invade the Baltic states in 2017. Without US support NATO will be powerless to do anything about it and it'll be chaos in Europe.

Overly pessimistic? Maybe. But can I rule it out? No. And certainly not after today. After today I will consider pretty much everything possible, from frozen hells to flying pigs, and then some.

Yeah, remembering the Bush Jr years, it hurts on some level not to have a U.S. president who appears, you know, wise, professional, committed to reason and maybe even avuncular (in a good sense). Someone you can trust, as an outsider and ally, kind of.

The GOP is going to have control of all three branches of government for the next four years. If you're not a straight, white, male Christian, prepare for hell.

I think you're underestimating the rest of Nato a bit there.

Podesta just been on stage telling Hilary supporters to go home and wait until tomorrow to see what happens.

Looks like Hilary only had the hall booked until 2 AM and they had to clear them out.

Why have we done this? What happened? Do we all hate ourselves this much?

I can't... I honestly just want to die right now. I just feel this immense cloud of darkness and despair looming over us, and only us smart people can see it. We're like Noah trying to tell everyone that there's going to be a flood, and they're just laughing at us and mocking us.

Damn election anxiety keeping me from sleeping.

After Trump, I think America will be pining for the Obama years. Heck, the Bush years will look good by comparison.

Agreed with what Glyphstone said. If you're not a heterosexual, white, male, Christian, it's going to be hell for the next four years.

It makes me glad to be Canadian and proud that we didn't fall this seeming trend of increasing nationalism and the far-right rearing it's ugly head. Justin Trudeau will be a rare voice for sanity on the world stage now.

Is there a realistic option for Clinton to legally challenge the results from Florida or Virginia? Those two were fairly tight, and neither of them seems to have come up with a final count yet from all of their districts (the districts that were "dragging their feet" are some of the most populous, and Dem-heavy) though both states have been called for Trump by the news media.

Edit: looks like Clinton is projected to win Virginia now. PA still uncertain.

I don't usually post here, in fact I never post here, but I don't want to put this anywhere else.

I'm scared. I'm devastated. I'm worried. But....

Michael Moore recently said that Donald Trump was a molotov cocktail put in the hand of the average American and that they would throw it at Washington as the greatest fuck you in history. He was right.

What would Hilary Clinton have done, realistically? She would have maintained the status quo. I don't believe she would have made anything better. I voted for her out of fear that Trump would make things worse. And maybe he still will. But maybe taking a gamble is the best option at this point. The majority of Americans certainly thought so.

But even if the molotov cocktail doesn't smash Washington, it will smash the democrats. And that might not be a bad thing. The Democrats have to look hard at why they thought they could play kingmaker and cheat Bernie Sanders out of the nomination. If the Republicans had done the same thing and thought 'this radical will never win we'd better rig it' they would have lost the election. Bernie Sanders would have won the Rust Belt. He won it all during the primaries. He spoke to the working class. Clinton took it for granted. With that change, the democrats win this election. Hilary Clinton didn't visit Wisconsin once after the primaries.

The democratic party deserved this loss, even if the American people didn't. But we don't deserve the lip service of the democrats either. The socially progressive deserve a party that will actually fight for progress, and not simply try to sell us on the status quo being what we wish it was.

The young generation according to what I have seen supported Trump almost exactly the same as it supported Romney. But it supported Clinton much, much, less than Obama. Those votes didn't go to Trump. They didn't switch parties. They rejected the establishment. Unions voted against a democratic president who has done nothing but suggest that what they work in should be made redundant. The sleeping latino giant is still slumbering, waiting for a party to actually reach out to them. We, the people who want a voice, have the numbers to control the election. The democratic party in its current form has shown itself to be an unworthy speaker.

Equally important to remember, not everyone who voted for Donald Trump is a bigot. In fact, the vast majority are not. They are frustrated Americans who were promised something called normalcy and had it taken away. Sure, many of us never knew that to begin with, but it doesn't make those that did evil. When their molotov cocktail smashes the system, we can rebuild it together. We have to try, at least.

This was a rejection of the establishment, not social progress. The establishment deserved it. The democratic party deserved it. We don't, but we put our faith in the wrong things. This is still our country, all of us, and now we need to fix it. Your vote counts the same as any billionaire's. Use it. Don't wait four years. Use it in every local election and every state election and every chance you get. Write it someone you believe in if you have to. Make your voice heard.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring.

Your post gave me a lot of hope.

There is no argument that makes up for what they have done. If they voted for him they are trash. You vote for a misogynistic, bigoted rapist and you are a piece of shit. The moment they allowed their pain to endanger the rest of the world is the moment I stopped caring about their pain and their reasons. They deserve to suffer now and the rest of us will suffer because they are too stupid to vote more than once every four years and actually put people they agree with in office.

This country rejected decency, intelligence, and humanity tonight. Nothing less. Nothing good will come of this. There is no silver lining. You are grasping at straws. This is reality. He made it mainstream to be a bigot, to treat women like objects, and to insult anyone who is different than you. And his followers embrace it. This country is broken and the people who voted for Trump broke it.

Maybe we all deserve it for letting it get this bad.

That is bullshit. The people who have been working to make this a better place deserve the same as the people who voted for him? That makes no sense.
