A Warhammer 40k Fighter squadron freeform game. still accepting
« on: November 21, 2014, 12:01:40 PM »
Firstly, I'd Like to apologize for the rather long title of my game ( To be titled Vengence Of Angels.)

This is a re-start of a previous Rp that never quite got out of the  planning stage. Too complicated and confusing (I had several tables with multiple d10's plus other numbers). So I'm doing away with that and making it a purely story driven roleplaying experience (no dice).

So lets get down to it shall we? (more information can be found on http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page#.U5CnPfldVzo )

Main IC thread: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=218137.0

Background

It is the 41st Millenium and there is Only War. Mankind is beset on all sides from without by the alien, and from within by the the traitor and the heretic. For Ten thousand years the Emperor of mankind has sat on his Golden Throne on Holy Terra. His imesurable psychic powers protecting humanity and the Imperium.
The Imperium was founded by the Emperor, also called The Immortal Emperor, God-Emperor, and the Master of Mankind, at the end of the Age of Strife - a very long period of anarchy, war, and destructive regression which brought humanity to the brink of destruction and reversed the technological progression made during the Dark Age of Technology.
As the Warp storms of the Age of Strife subsided, after having secured the scientific posts and spacedocks of Luna, along with the factories and scientists on Mars, the Emperor began to unite mankind under his rule. A vast navy was built, with which his armies undertook the Great Crusade, which lasted for about two centuries.
During this two hundred year-long military campaign, the Emperor employed his most potent military units, the Space Marine Legions, led by their leaders, the Primarchs. These, combined with the might of the Imperial Army (which was later separated into the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Navy), brought thousands of human worlds together under the Imperium. The Great Crusade ended with the corruption and treachery of the Primarch Horus, the instigator of the Horus Heresy.
The rebellion was fought across the galaxy. Horus, seeking to achieve a swift and decisive victory, led most of the traitor forces in a direct strike at the capital of humanity, in the Battle of Terra. In the final decisive battle between the Emperor and the Arch-Traitor, Horus was slain, leading to the breakup of the rebellion. However the Master of Mankind was himself mortally wounded. According to his instructions he was placed on the life-preserving Golden Throne, where, for nearly ten thousand years, he has remained. Though physically a carcass incapable of movement or communication, his omnipotent will extends across the million worlds of the Imperium, beaming the psychic energy of the Astronomican, soul-binding psychic humans and struggling against the daemons of the Warp. He endures by his undying will, and by the sustenance that only the souls of sacrificial psykers can provide. By the numberless masses of humanity he is worshipped as a god.

Mankind Is largely defended by The Armies of men and war machines of the Imperial Guard (also called the Astra Miitarum). Countless Billions of men and women dying on battlefields literally as numberless as the stars in the night sky in defence of the Imperium and a planet that many have only heard of in legend.

How the Armies of Man traverse the stars is due to the Fleets of starships of the Imperial Navy.

Player Name: Lustful Bride

Character Name: Arla Thrace Ethina.

Call sign: Barbie

Nickname: None atm

Age: 20

Sex: F

Sexuality: She is unsure herself.

Appearance:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Background: A noble by birth, Thrace was brought up among the upper echelons of Imperial society, going to fancy gatherings, learning how to be a proper lady and only worrying about properly representing her family in the eyes of others and saying her prayers to the Emperor.

Arla’s family was from a Jungle Hive world by the name of Ranigast, a small insignificant world in the grand scheme of the Imperium but an imperial world non the less. They had found their fortune by discovering, accidentally, a local type of penicillin that was effective in treating many illnesses and infections. While it was not as effective as other types, it was enough to soon raise the family up over several generations into being amongst the lower noble houses of their world.

Arla never knew her real father, a sickness taking him a month before her birth which also forced her mother to remarry and combine her house with another lower house to strengthen both houses when Arla was around seven years old. It was a completely political marriage with very little love in it though there wasn't outright fighting either.

Arla always assumed that her stepfather tolerated her existence and perhaps even enjoyed it given how she would take care of her two half brothers when they were growing unruly, but a week after her 18th birthday he came to her one night and told her to pack her things for she was to enlist with the Imperial Navy.

The tithes that the Imperium demanded all to pay was growing difficult for her family to handle and threatening to reduce their standing. What made it worse in her stepfather's eyes was that in her father's will she was to receive a large some of Thrones (imperial currency) on her 21st birthday and he just could not tolerate it. That night he gave her three options. The first was that she join the Imperial Navy and likely die in service to the Imperium, and where she would be so far away from her homeworld for so long he would have to give her Thrones to her half brothers.
Her second option was that she become a whore for the sons of other noble houses to use. The final option was that she stay but that she would expect to hear him abusing her mother every night from then on.

With little favorable options given to her, Arla enlisted in the Imperial navy, never letting herself give up and struggling to adapt to the new life for fear of what her stepfather would do to her mother. Thanks to all her hard work, Arla is now part of the new 187th Imperial Navy Fighter wing. She considers it a great achievement and has actually found pride in the idea of the work she does, defending the Imperium against the unholy and the alien. But still many nights before she sleeps she dreams of going into her stepfather's office and emptying a laspistol into his body until he was nothing but ashes.

As I pm'd you. (but will post in here as it's known). First refusal goes to lustful. But if you (lustful) are happy playing as standard pilot you (Ollum) can take the role.

Also I'm playing the NPC's and setting the scenes.

Thank you.

I thought you were passing on it originally because your Bio said she "enlisted" and not enrolled. Which is why I asked Baalborn at first.

I think I will go with either "Barbie" cause of her thin frame and blonde hair/living in a dream house or "Weed" because of the penicillin her family discovered.

I think Barbie sounds more amusing and appropriate of the two.

Player Name: Mac84

Character: Phrix Regia Zekka (Name he put on the sign up sheet)

Call Sign: Oinker

Nickname: Big Man

Age: 21

Sex: M

Sexuality: Straight

Physical Appearance:

Background: Phrix, a name he chose for himself since he didn't know what his mother called him, was born on the streets on an Industrial Forge World towards the outer edge of the Imperium. Abandoned at a young age, Phrix quickly learned that he had to fend for himself. Street Fighting, and stealing had become a way of life, a life that he wanted nothing to do with. He always looked up to groups like the Space Marines and imagined being like them, kicking Xeno scum back into the void and being looked up to by all of Humanity. But knew he could never be one of their ranks, they would never take a street urchin like him.

Yet there was still the Navy, and that would be an almost guaranteed ticket offworld. Granted, he knew it was to send him to the Hell of War, but how was that any worse than what he had to look forward to now? His world had a voluntarily enlistment as part of their Tithe to the Imperium so they gave no complaints when he came up, asking to join the Navy.

Phrix was naturally a large man with a large appetite, hence the Call sign "Oinker". This also derived from the fact that he had a tendency to eat everything on his plate ravenously as he had to often fight for his meals, eating every chance he got. As a child, he didn't know when he would be able to get his next meal and the fear of starvation was always a part of him.

As an uneducated peasant, he was slated for the repair crews of the Thunderbolt fighters, but his seeming ability to break anything he touched infuriated the Techpriests, and it was thought that he would serve the Emperor better being a pilot ramming his Fighter into an enemy ship rather than risking actual Pilot's lives with a wrench. So one of the priests pulled a string here and there thinking the fool who broke his devices would end up spaced within his first flight, but fate had other plans.

From flight school, he showed an a keen interest in flying, and being a team player, even if he is a bit awkward in trying to talk, and bond with his classmates, many of which being of Noble or of a higher class than him. He tries to be friendly, but is a bit socially awkward.  Getting out, he would find himself assigned to the 187th Imperial Navy Fighter Wing.

This is back? Excellent. I will just put this here then:

Player Name: ArtemisHighmore
Character Name: William ‘Liam’ Radagest
Call sign: None yet
Nickname: None yet
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Background: Born on the Bakka Triumveron moon of Grey Harbor, Liam grew up around flying, his father working as a pilot for the Bakka Shipyards that serviced Battlefleet Bakka in the Segmentum Tempestus. Since he could remember Liam had longed to be just like his father, flying around space with nothing but his skills to guide him. Thankfully his father was receptive to this idea and would often take Liam with him on his trips, even allowing the youth to try his hand at the controls, for which he showed a natural ability. Not content to just have his son follow in his steps, Liam’s father encouraged him to look beyond, to seek fame and glory in the Navy, supporting these ideas with history lessons on the fast fleets and the epic battles in which they were involved.

By the age of 16, Liam had a number of years under his belt piloting both atmosphere and space craft, working with his father as he awaited his chance to apply to the Imperial Academy. His acceptance was one of the happiest moments for he and his father, all of their hard work having paid off. Eager to be off and explore the galaxy, Liam had devoted all of his focus into learning to be the best pilot that he could, applying himself to every concept and seeking all of the extra practice he could get. He also became a bit of a hothead, feeling that flying was in his blood and his right, eager to prove it whenever the chances arose.

I say yes. We have one Noble and a bunch of peasant dogs.

(still trying to decide on exactly how much of an attitude Arla should give to everyone due to her noble upbringing.)

Bear in mind. you've all been together for the best part of 2 years, training. So know each other pretty well by now. So if she uses it in an ironic sort of way.

Okay, I will add into her CS that she has gotten used to working alongside those who are of lower standing than her.

Perhaps we should say that they were selected out of a larger bunch so while they know of eachother, they don't exactly know deep details so it gives us and our characters time to learn and grow.

Shore leave on occasion where available. but life in the navy is a life long commitment. Hardly anyone retires.

Wait officer training is separate from enlisted. Would I know everybody?

Assume final 3 months of training as all together. Plus another 2 months in transit aboard Righteous Fury. So how well you know them depends on how sociable your character wanted to be.
