It is very frustrating that there are a lot of people on social media(Such as members of Infowars) who are spreading around that the shooter is a Muslim from the Middle East, when they very much aren't. It's also kind of frustrating to see people saying if the people inside were just armed less people would die. When they were drinking and ambushed and were hit with a smoke grenade, that a "Good guy with a gun" would take down a US Marine who was shooting them, especially when an armed officer stood no chance against him. Now though the media is just trying to work the mental health angle to blame mental illnesses and wipe their hands of any broader things to think about.

I wonder how Trump is going to spin his participation at the centenary in Paris on Sunday. Will it be "yeah, as usual America stepped in and won the war" or "here I am with all these bigshots who are actually all much smaller than me, folks!"?

He'll enjoy the military parade though. Hope he doesn't ask Macron: "why aren't they marching under the Triumphal Arch? Such a great avenue and the Arch is a natural focus, shouldn't they march side by side, eight men wide, and through it?"

Tucker Carlson's house was visited by protesters. They chanted outside his house and damaged the front door. I'm actually not against the idea of doing this but it requires being careful and it sounds like these people weren't. Also while I agree with trying to make fascists realize their actions have consequences the individual who allegedly mentioned they wished they brought a pipe bomb is definitely going too far. Pipe bombs are anything but specific and careful.

So it looks like the White House may not have edited the footage they posted of the incident with the journalist showing he "Karate Chopped" an intern. It was edited by InfoWars and shared by them and the White House then used it. So yeah, the White House didn't make this malicious thing. They just got it from InfoWars.

Well, I wouldn't exactly say you're free from fault for sharing something which is fake and accuses someone who talked back to you of a crime that you have already punished them for which comes from a fringe Neo Nazi website that is banned from most sites because of the person in charge calling for people to kill minorities if they see them on the streets, specifically made by Paul Joseph Watson who likes to claim that people are "becoming transgenders" because men are eating too much soy that makes them more feminine and that to be more masculine you should buy his Brain Force Plus pills that, warning, contain soy, with his belief being based on a woman who hates him claiming that because a study on sheep eating a different plant than soy inconclusively might have made some minor effects on the sheep, and not humans that soy makes men into women.

Like I said, technically the White House didn't doctor the footage. They just shared doctored footage by a Neo Nazi conspiracy theorist from a website that is banned on most platforms for inciting violence.

On the topic of WW1, I learnt the other day that there are a number of "ghost villages" in eastern France (especially around Verdun): places that were so completely destroyed by the ground fighting that once the war was over, it was deemed unfeasible to rebuild them. Not only had the the houses and farms been razed, but the fields around them were so packed with explosives, landmines, dead bodies, shells and poison gas that it would be useless as farmland for hundreds of years.  Some of these communities were designated "a village that died for France".
