Not British. I'm a very proud Italian-American from the U.S. Although most of my favourite (see what I did there?) writing partners on E are British, or British imports. :)

And, oh, by the way ... yay! A new game with Dashenka! So happy you're joining us! :)

All we need now are H and T and we have the full crowd... *giggles*

I don't think hard sci-fi is H's thing though.

Hey, I'm British...  In fact I'm English! My mother's maiden name is in the Doomsday book!

I think there are a few others here...

So I was right! *Laughs* How are things back in the old country these days anyway? I haven't been home in years. Can't afford it.

Pretty wet at the moment. We've had the wettest drought on record this year.

A dry summer last year and dry winter meant that by April there was a water shortage looming. The water companies imposed hosepipe bans and the Environment Agency declared that the country was officially in a drought, back in mid April.

Since when it hasn't stopped raining! I think we had a couple of weeks and the odd day here and there with no rain, but apart from that it's been the wettest spring and summer on record! And it's all because they declared a drought!

Of course, conditions on Mars are a lot drier...

Ah, he didn't invent it, though he did proselytize it pretty damn hard...

Don't get me started on tinfoil hat stuff! *Laughs*

Name: Abigail "Abs" Carter
Nationality: United States of America
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Age: 23

Job: Mechanic
Specific skills: Very intelligent, enjoys fixing (and tearing things apart) to learn how they work and how to fix them better

Height: 157.48 cm
Weight: 52.1632 kg

Eye Colour: Brow
Hair colour: Light brown

Distinguishing marks: She does have a scar on her  left side from an experiment gone awry in her childhood but it's mostly noticeable up close.

Likes: Rough, passionate sex, Romantic, tender sex,  Reading, Inventing, Oral, Anal, Movies (especially Horror movies and Comedies!), learning new theories and putting them to use with inventing new trinkets, Breast play, shoulder rubs, Kissing
Dislikes: Liars, cheaters, People taking her tools without permission, Unfair rules/regulations, Being bored

Psych profile/personality: Abs, as she likes to be called, is very playful and spunky. She can't stand being called Abigail and will make it her own personal mission to seek vengeance. It's either Abs or Abby. Nothing else. She's also very stubborn about many things, including making friends with the most unlikely of people. When she likes someone, she loves to play jokes on them, or tease them (all in good fun of course) and try and break them out of their cranky shell. It's hard to make Abs depressed, but when it happens she becomes entirely the opposite of her normal cheerful, perky self.

History: Abs got excited the moment she'd heard about opportunities to go to Mars. In her mind it was a new frontier, a new place to build a new life and invent. She often feels ostracized by others due to her penchant for creating new devices (and the mayhem they can sometimes bring). Though in all fairness most of her creations are quite sound and useful. She also wants to go for the idea that she'd be among the first Martians, creating a society from the ground up. The idea is fascinating to her, and she is more than happy to jump on board and see what happens next!

Other info: Abs really does hate it when people call her by her full name. She's even made it known when she applied that she only answers to Abs or Abby. She understands there will be times when her name is used but has gone above and beyond to make sure those times are few and far between.

I plan to finish her by the time I go to bed tonight but wanted to get her mostly up and ready :)

Just wondering. If we're going to have the colonists encouraged to make little martian babies whos going to look after them? Both crew members would be essential personel so it would be hard to see them beeing able to suddenly loose out a team member.

PERFECT!!!!!!

That is exactly what I was looking for in the Deputy Commander!

Now all we need are a couple of gay male characters to round things out...

Such a shame.

Specially with that posthumous report specifying all the security failures that pose a risk to the operation profitability, emphatically recommends termination and blames the security chief specifically for any losses of life and limb. :P

Okay..... I've been slacking.

BAD GM! *slaps own wrist*

Give me a couple of hours and I will get the character thread open, and post all the approved characters there, then update the list at the front...

Then I have the OOC thread to create, I have to collate all the technical stuff we've discussed so far, and post that, and I have a base map to draw...

It's a damn good job I'm on holiday all week...

RIGHT! The character thread is up:

http://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=148583.0

Please note that cooks and cleaners are employed directly by MarsCorp. Because they have no technical skills (other than cooking and cleaning which are skills in their own right), I have put them under Ancillary Workers and put them reporting directly to the deputy commander.

Everyone else is either military, maintenance or science.

I'M ONLY HUMAN! If I've missed anyone off, please let me know?

@Linna & Atlas: Please will you let me know how old your characters are?

@ DarkRose: Abs is provisionally approved, pending a suitable history.

Ive been going back and forth about a character but I wanted to double check and ask is the position of Doctor (surgeon style doctor) still available?
@ Brandon: The post of doctor is still open, but it is not an exclusive post anyway. The base can have more than one doctor.

Just wondering. If we're going to have the colonists encouraged to make little martian babies whos going to look after them? Both crew members would be essential personel so it would be hard to see them beeing able to suddenly loose out a team member.

That is what NPCs are for... Please note that as yet we do not have any player characters on the nursing staff, and it is they who would initially look after the little brats darlings...

By the time they are old enough to attend school, the second (and perhaps third) wave of colonists would be here, and would include teachers and child care specialists.

Just wanted to point out that even cooks and sanitation workers would also have some basic skills in doing Dome repairs, environmental suit operation and anything that might be considered "Emergency" procedures in the event of somethin drastic. This would be for their own safety and everyone would be pressed into service if something really bad happened.

Just my thoughts...

If we find a sexy, skinny stranger on the base wearing a pinstripe suit and trainers who's screaming "Don't touch the water ... not one drop ... !" ...

... Dr. Chance is taking him back to her quarters for, um, "Evaluation". ;)
