Scattered all across the world are very special people within whom resides the reborn souls of fairy tale characters.  These souls are all linked by a magical force that has ushered them through many lives, bringing them together in unexpected ways without them ever knowing what truly binds them.  It's this magical web that has kept them all reborn in the same generation, and allowed them to grow up at pretty much the same pace for the majority of their many lives.

However, something has disrupted the mystical machinations and that same something has begun the process of harnessing these souls for its own nefarious purposes.  But, first, it must bring them together in one place...

Salutations,

This letter is to inform you of your acceptance to Dellban University.  This elite, private institution is the foremost educational conclave in the world, and you have been hand-selected by the founder and Dean of Colleges to receive a coveted full-ride scholarship.

Should you accept, not only will your tuition and materials be provided free of charge, but so will your room, board and travel expenses both to and from the university.  Dellban is located on the east coast of Scotland, near the village of DunBroch.  The teaching staff is comprised of experts and masters in their fields; one can not receive a more prestigious education.  Furthermore, our chefs are exemplary and the university is housed in a stunning castle built in the Middle Ages and located near lush woods and the Scottish coast.

To accept, merely fill out the short form and return in the pre-paid envelope provided.  We will contact you within two weeks to arrange for your travel, explain any further details and answer any questions you might have.

Respectfully,
Dr. Francis Boussard
Dean of Colleges

Laced in the thick, luxurious stationary - straight from the desk of Dr. Boussard himself - was a hint of magic, just a whiff, designed to subtly allay any misgivings that might arise in the minds of those reading the (seemingly too good to be true) offer.  Research into the university or its founder all indicates that the offer is perfectly legit, and there are dozens of success stories of former students who were afforded the exact same offer.  The faculty are, indeed, all highly respected, or at least acclaimed, in their fields and nothing indicates that this is anything but perfectly valid.

So, what are you waiting for?  Fill out the form and join us on the other side...

This game is a semi-sandbox with GM-driven plot elements and events.  Basically, the majority of play will revolve around character-driven storytelling between player characters, with an over-arcing GM plot advancing at intervals, and optional GM-devised events for student participation, such as sporting events, trips and parties/dances.

The player characters in this game are all young adults born and raised in modern times who are the reincarnated souls of fairy tale beings.  These souls have existed for many lifetimes, though their current selves do not have any knowledge of their former lives.  Each of them is linked by a mysterious magical force that has been with them throughout all of their lifetimes, keeping them connected.  It ensures they are all reborn at about the same time, and also leads them to often end up with relationship bonds.

Players should be aware of this force and the multiple lifetimes that have come before the current one, but the characters are not themselves aware of it.  At least, not yet.  At some point in the game, when the plot has advanced enough, the GM will indicate that the characters can begin to 'awaken' to their fairy tale selves and become gradually more aware of who and what they are, both personally and in connection to the others in the game.

For now, though, just make a well-rounded, interesting 18-25 year old who might have similarities to a fairy tale/Disney character...but, might very well not.

Character Creation Guidelines

Do I have to pick a character from a fairy tale?

The short answer is no.  The more complicated answer is kind of, but not really.  Basically, the character's fairy tale persona should be either from a Grimm's fairy tale, or a Disney movie/franchise that has the same 'feel' as a fairy tale.  Now, this might mean you go full traditional and pick Snow White, or you can get a little more creative and choose Simba, or even Todd from the Fox and the Hound.  While neither Lion King or Fox and the Hound are traditional fairy tales, they still have the same sort of themes and tropes common to fairy tales.

If you have any questions about whether your chosen media fits the themes, my PM box is open or you can ask in the thread below.  Even if your character doesn't work, we can always work together to find one that will and still mesh with your desired concept.

Does my character have to match their fairy tale persona?

Not at all!  You can make your character as similar or different as you'd like.  The only caveat being in their 'Special Gift/Trait', which should be something that they share with their storybook soul.  So, while you are perfectly free to play a fairy tale hero as a bully, gender-bend or even make a traditionally white character some other race, you should keep one aspect of their former self.  Princess Jasmine might be a total bro in this life, but he would still have a gift for daring escapes or a fearless spirit.

Do our characters have magic abilities?

Not yet.  For now, their special talents are just remarkable abilities connected to their fairy tale persona.  So, Peter Pan can't fly, but he might be able to jump surprisingly high, or have an exceptional sense of balance.  He could also simply be very good at mimicking animal sounds or a brilliant fencer.  It's totally up to the player.

For those characters who didn't have any magical abilities in their fairy tale, like Lilo, from Lilo and Stitch, she might, instead, be a very skilled surfer, or be able to calm people and animals around her.  As the game progresses, these unique gifts will become enhanced and eventually reach the same level as their fairy tale persona.  Any mundane gifts can also develop into more superhuman versions.

What happens if there's two versions of the same character, like the Disney Cinderella and her Grimm counterpart?

Once one version of a character is claimed, both versions become unavailable to other players.  This includes less direct recreations, such as The Snow Queen from the Grimm tales and Jadis, The Snow Queen from Chronicles of Narnia.

What majors are available for my character?

Dellban offers all undergraduate degrees you might find at any elite university.  Just because there's not a professor listed for your degree or course, doesn't mean it's not being offered.  There are a lot more unnamed, NPC professors and other staff present in the university, though most don't reside on campus or matter to the plot.  So, feel free to make your character's major almost anything you like, though I'll note there aren't any trade skills or certifications offered.

How many characters can I play?

The character limit is 2 per player.  I allow some leeway for 'pets', however.  Such as Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, Sven from Frozen or Rajah from Aladdin.  The line between pet and character in Disney movies tends to be kind of blurry, and these characters should begin as nothing more than an animal of some sort.

Where should I send my completed sheet?

You can either drop it in the recruitment thread or shoot it to my PMs.  The same goes for face claims and persona reservations.  If you reserve a face claim or persona, you have a hold on it for a week, at least, after which time if I haven't received a sheet and someone expresses interest, I will contact you to make sure you're still interested in keeping it, at which point I'll need a definitive time frame of when your sheet will be completed.

Example Sheet

Gabrielle Bonnet
Age: 21
Birthday: August 28th
Fairy Tale Persona: Princess Tiana
Year & Major: Sophomore in Business Management

Gender: Cis-Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexual/Romantic Identity: Pansexual/Panromantic
Distinguishing Characteristics: No tattoos, piercings or visible birthmarks.
General Style/Overall Appearance:  Gabby's style is fairly fluid, though she tends to favor bright colors that compliment her dark skin, hair and eyes.  She is very conscious about what suits her more curvaceous body, but isn't afraid to show off her figure, and likes shorter styles that let her flaunt her shapely legs.  In her mind there's never a bad time to dress up, wear heels or indulge in a more glamorous style of make-up.  Still, that doesn't mean she can't toss on a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sneakers for a more comfortable and cozy look.

Personality: Smart | Driven | Attitude For Days | Compassionate | Stubborn | Protective | Party-Girl

Biography:  Gabrielle is the youngest of three born to a couple who immigrated to France in order to purchase a failing vineyard near Beune.  She and her older brothers grew up in the French countryside, enjoying the fragrant air and the happiness of a loving home with caring parents.  By the time Gabby was born, the vineyard had become a prospering business that produced a small, but excellent, selection of wines that were highly sought after by connoisseurs.  While their family wasn't rich, they were quite comfortable and never wanted for anything.

Gabby was a middling student whose mind was quick, but who found the tedium of schoolwork too horrible to be borne.  She often rushed through her work in order to move onto more engaging things, like running around the vineyard, playing with the animals that populated their small farm or helping her father with the cooking.  Gabby absolutely loved the simple, but delicious, dishes that her father made from the fresh ingredients gathered from their animals and the small garden he tended.  It was at his knee that she discovered her passion for cooking and refined her palette.

When she was old enough, she announced her plans to attend a university to acquire her business degree so that she could eventually open her own little cafe or restaurant in Paris.  With that goal in mind, she began to buckle down more on her studies, knowing that if she wanted to attend a decent university she would need a good transcript and test scores.  In her free time, she researched what it took to create a successful restaurant, knowing that it was one of the most risky businesses one could launch.  Especially in a city like Paris, where one could find the most exquisite food in the world.

Her hard work and dedication paid off, and she was accepted into the Emlyon Business School right out of high school.  After a summer spent traveling and taking a much-deserved break, she started her first year of university with renewed vigor and excitement.  It turned out that she had almost as much of a head for business as she did a skill for cooking, and she did quite well in her first year.  Then, halfway through her summer break, she received a surprising, yet amazing, letter from the prestigious Dellban University with an offer to transfer to their campus for the rest of her degree credits.

The decision was a swift one, of course, and now she is excited to learn from the best of the best, even though she finds the extra distance from her family is affecting her more than she imagined it would.
Fairy Tale: The Princess & the Frog
Special Talent/Gift/Trait:  Gabby is an excellent cook with a natural talent for the culinary arts.

Rules

1. No OOC drama.  Seriously, I am not afraid to kick anyone out, and I will boot your ass if you're causing problems OOC.  We're all grown-ups, let's act like it.

2. This game isn't going to be fast-paced, but neither do I want anyone languishing for a month waiting for a post, or to have my scenes stalled due to one person.  I totally understand delays due to real life or just general lack of motivation or creative energy.  Trust me.  I am looking for at least 1.5-2 weeks at most between posts.  And that's at the outside.  If you need to step away, be skipped over or minimally NPCed, just let me know!  Otherwise, after two weeks without word I'm going to message you and if I don't hear back in 24 hours, I'll skip over you.

3. I reserve the right to deny an application based on whatever criteria I like, and I do not have to explain to you why I did it.  Now, I'm not a total bitch, my decision isn't going to be arbitrary or unfair.  Generally, I make a decision to outright deny a player based on previous experiences with them wherein I've noticed a pattern of behavior that can be detrimental to a game's over-all well-being and longevity.  Or because I don't feel, based on their previous posts, that they are going to be able to adhere to the posting requirements.  I do not deny people based on personal bullshit.

4.  Besides the general posting rate, I also expect a decently-sized, detailed post that leaves your partner/s with something reasonable to respond to.  That usually means at least 300 words, but I'm not gonna demand some arbitrary posting length.  I think we're all capable of gauging what fits with the writing of our partners best, and striving to meet them.  If I see an issue with your over-all posting habits, I'll contact you privately to discuss it.

5.  Everyone fucks up their spelling and grammar.  But, just like with post length, I expect everyone to be able to judge whether their spelling and grammatical abilities match the other writers in the group.  Just like with the above rule, if I see a consistent issue egregious enough to be addressed, I will do so.  There are add-ons for browsers that can correct your spelling and even some that help with grammar.  There's also proof-reading.  Note: ESL writers get more of a pass here, and trust me...I can tell if you're one or the other.

6. SMUT!  Now that I have your attention...you are all grown-ass adults, both IC and OOC.  You can fuck however much you want.  That said, if you join my game and do nothing except fuck anything that moves with zero interest in interacting beyond that or being involved in the plot, then I'm gonna have a talk with you.  This isn't a smut game.

7. Don't Fucking God-Mod or Power Game.  Seriously, there's nothing that pisses me off more than someone controlling someone else's character without their consent.  Minor offenses will be addressed privately, should the other person complain to me.  Major offenses will result in an immediate ejection from the game.  If someone god-mods you and it makes you even slightly uncomfortable, you can either message the person privately, message them with me CCed, or simply come to me and I will handle it.

Allons-y!  -giggles.-

I warn you all I might continue to tweak things, because I'm pretty sure I've forgotten things or just not thought of something (maybe many somethings).

That said, I'm gonna shoot for next Monday, February 17th as the launching of the IC.  That doesn't mean recruitment will stop, of course.  This game will remain open as long as people wanna try and join.

Edit:  Already realized I forgot to put up the info about the rooms.  I'm shooting for 2-3 per room, just to encourage interaction and interesting pairings.  You guys will get to choose your roomies, though.  I'll get that info up either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I'll also post up the interior of the university in the Worldbuilding thread.  Just a few of the rooms.  Also, some info about the staff and the majors.  Fuck, I really forgot a shit ton.  I'm trash.

EDIT:  Added info about the interior of the castle and student rooms to the worldbuilding thread.  Added a new question to the Character Creation Guidelines above that covers the NPC staff and degree majors offered by Dellban.

.. if it's alright, I would like to reserve Fan Bingbing for Mulan?

I probably missed this, and while it seems pretty clear in the sheet, I just to be on the safe side while I plan out a character...  The Special Talent Section.  You only want one talent/trait, right?  Or is there a limit on it?
If I can't have you, my love...  I'll destroy you

Just the one for now.  As the game progresses and they become more in-tune with their fairy tale persona, others can develop.

Just letting everyone know the game will be posted in Bondage: Exotic Small Groups.

I don't see anything extreme or NC happening in this game, but I think the inclusion of some Disney and fairy tale beings makes it possible that things might get more exotic in the future.

That cool with you guys?

Tanglefoot

Beaumont Josephine Morris "Jo"

Age: 20

Birthday: August 15th

Fairy Tale Persona: The Beast

Year & Major: Freshman, Undecided

Gender: Non-binary

Pronouns: Ok with she/her, prefers they/them

Sexual/Romantic Identity: pansexual but leans more towards women.

Distinguishing Characteristics: She has a few tattoos including a rose on her hip, her father's name "Adam" on her ankle and a semicolon on her wrist.

General Style/Overall Appearance: Jo appreciates a certain amount of flexibility when it comes to her style. She is as comfortable in faded rock t-shirts and jeans as she is in high end fashion. Sometimes Jo will enjoy rocking an asexual vibe for a few weeks only to go more femme later on.

In general she doesn't go in for bright colors, preferring more earthy tones, or black and white. She is not afraid to show skin, she is proud of her fighters body, but in truth Jo is most comfortable in an oversized hoody.

Personality: Intense / passionate / goofy / protective / loyal / honest / wild / imperious

Biography: Beaumont Josephine Morris was born into old money and had a fairytale childhood for a while. Her family was like Missouri royalty and she was the spoiled princess. She traveled the world as a child but was also protected from it. Jo had no idea the dark secrets of her family or where all the money came from.

It took the Morris family generations to build up a trade empire but it only took five years for it to crumble. Starting around when Jo turned twelve a series of bad investments and lawsuits destroyed her family fortune. Her father was arrested for a litany of white collar crimes. He mother quickly divorced her father and remarried, taking half of what money was left. She tried to take Jo with her but Jo wouldn't leave the house.

Those were dark years, as a teenage Jo burned through what was left of her family fortune, living in the now mostly empty mansion. When the state finally came for the house, it was her father's old landscaper, Ernesto, that took her in. She was 17, broke and angry with a mean self destructive streak but he didn't give up on her. On a whim he tried to get her interested in boxing.

Learning to fight is what saved her life in the end. It gave her a place to put her anger and gave her something to focus on. She took to it with a passion, learning how to box and exploring mixed martial arts. She had no interest in going to college choosing instead to train as a fighter. Jo ended up being pretty good at it, having more strength than her small frame would suggest. She won her first three fights in the local mixed martial arts circuit.

When she received the letter from Dellban she was training for her fourth fight and was not interested in the offer. Ernesto and his family pushed her to consider the offer. They wanted more for her. In the end it was her father, still in prison, that got her to agree. He knew she was destined for more than cage fights.

Fairy Tale: Beauty and the Beast

Special Talent/Gift/Trait: Jo is stronger than she appears, and is a ferocious fighter.

We are all strangers in a strange land, longing for home, but not quite knowing what or where home is. We glimpse it sometimes in our dreams, or as we turn a corner, and suddenly there is a strange, sweet familiarity that vanishes almost as soon as it comes...

Felice Clochette
Age: 18
Birthday: 15 April (Aries)
Fairy Tale Persona: Tinker Bell (aka Tink, Miss Bell)
Year & Major: Freshman, Mechanical Engineering

Gender: Cis-female
Pronouns: She/her
Sexual/Romantic Identity: Prefers men, but could be romanced. Likely to be distracted by machinery that needs fixing!
Distinguishing Characteristics: English accent ('Moderate RP')
General Style/Overall Appearance:
Felice is 5'1" and slender, yet with well-rounded hips for her height. She has fair skin and shoulder-length blonde hair, often pulled back into a tight bun or ponytail. She doesn't have a consistent style, except that she hates anything somber; even her darker clothes tend towards sparkles or shiny highlights. When she wears jewelry, it's loud and proud: large hoop earrings, chunky chokers, multiple necklaces. She doesn't do subtle. Felice has a slight preference for miniskirts and minidresses, rebelling against the 'tomboy' stereotype.

Personality:

A spoiled brat with a heart of gold, Felice is sassy, impatient, and hot-tempered. While she's loyal to her friends, and can be kind to strangers, she'll back-talk anyone. She tends to focus all her effort and enthusiasm on one thing at a time: she loses track of time while working on something, her demented dancing has been likened to someone being electrocuted while tied to a ceiling fan, and nothing will get in her way if she wants revenge on someone she feels has wronged her. She hates being told what to do, and will go out of her way to mess with anyone who does so.

Biography:

With a French mother and a Franco-British father, and a childhood split between the family home in Kensington and her uncle's vineyard in Aquitaine, Felice had collected more Air Miles before finishing primary school than most people manage in their lives. She was an only child, and her parents doted on her.

By the time she started secondary school, her independent streak was already strong. She had no shortage of self-confidence and would stand up to bullies twice her weight. Against that, she had a contrary streak when it came to school rules that teachers learned to watch out for. For example, telling children to stay together during a school trip would guarantee that one would be missing at the next head-count: Felice. She was otherwise a good student, so teachers ground their teeth, put her in detention, and then swapped "You-won't-believe-what-Felice-did-today" stories in the staff room.

Felice enjoyed platform diving (her first dive naturally coming after the swimming teacher told the class not to go near the diving platform), and found herself attracted to ice skating and tennis.

When the letter arrived, Felice was all set to take a gap year before going to Cambridge. The letter changed all that. First Felice, then her father and mother, lost their natural misgivings as the magic weaved its way into their heads.

Fairy Tale: Peter Pan, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinker_Bell, but heavily inspired by the Disney version https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Tinker_Bell
Special Talent/Gift/Trait: A knack for fixing and jury-rigging things, whether car engines or clothes. (Also a knack for getting her hips stuck :)
Face claim: Jordyn Jones

Thought I would post here and show off my characters for Megara (Hercules) & Robin Hood (Robin Hood) for anyone who is interested c:

There are a lot more characters up for grabs, so don't be shy if you're interested! There's a great bunch of writers here already :D

What about roleplaying characters from Frozen, or Tangled, or Sleeping beauty. Just wondering. I'd like to play as Snow White or Elsa if there is still space. Let me know and I'll write up a character.

Bibliophilia

Clarification:

It's come up a few times and I realized that my explanation might not have been clear, so I just wanted to address this quick thing for everyone.

None of the students received their invitation to Dellban prior to the summer preceding the in-game semester.  They might have heard of Dellban, since it's been around for about thirty years, pumping out brilliantly successful alumni in that time, but none have been in attendance before now.

This doesn't mean characters need to be Freshmen, of course.  They could transfer in from other colleges and all their credits will still count toward their degree (Dr. Boussard is terribly accommodating).  However, you are also welcome to play an older Freshman, it's not as if that's all that uncommon.  That's totally up to you guys.

Hopefully that clears some stuff up, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!  I'm always happy to answer.

Gonna plant my interest in this rn I love this idea. Wondering if we will be using some kind of system for this?
