I am looking to run a Numenera game based in space.

"You are part of a group of adventurers who make their money by solving other peoples problems. Most recently, you took out a group of bandits who had gotten hold of some dangerous numenera to extort the small village of Dunn Vale, barely a spot on the map in the southern territories. As a reward the group are given the most valuable thing the entire village has to offer, an artifact house called the house below the hill.

What secrets will the house reveal? And where will the secrets take you?"

Okay, now the nitty gritty.

A numenera game which will eventually go into space. Characters start at rank 3.

Skills:Perception (specialized), Climbing (specialized), jumping (specialized), running, swimming, searching (specialized), listening (specialized), balancing (specialized); Lockpicking, tinkering with devices, escape from bonds, fit into tight spaces, Contortion; Machine Intelligences; training, riding, or placating natural animals; identifying or using natural plants.
Inability: No social graces. Charm is increased one step.
Explores Dark Places (Tier 3):
   Esoteries make almost no sound, and visual is dark and shadowy.
   Trained Explore: train in search, listen, climb, balance, and jump.
   Trained Infiltrator: train in lockpick, tinkering.
   Eyes Adjusted: See in dim light as if bright. See in total darkness as if extremely dim.
   Slippery Customer: Train in escaping, fitting, contortionist tasks. Trained in Speed defense while wearing light/no armor.
Flex Skill: At the start of each day, choose one task on which you will concentrate. Considered Trained for that task.
Tricks of the Trade:
   Thrust: Costs 1 M. Inflicts +1 damage on a melee attack with a sharp weapon.
   Hedge Magic: Costs 1 I. Perform small tricks; prepare but not create food, change colors or appearances of small objects, clean, mend, etc.
   Ward: Passive shield of energy at all times that deflects attacks. +1 armor.
   Practiced in Armor: Can wear armor for reasonable periods of time without detriment. Reduce might cost/hour for armor, and speed pool reduction by 2 points.

Yulk (Medium weapon; 4 damage. splayed metal claw on 2 foot haft)
Forearm Blade(Light weapon; 2 damage. Bracer with mounted blade)

Super Duper Explorer's Pack! (150 feet of rope (in 3 sections), Rations for 7 days, three spikes, hammer, warm clothes, sturdy boots, 3 torches, 4 minor glowglobes)
Light Tools (small tongs, pliers, screwdriver, small hammer, pry bar, lockpicks, 10 feet string, 3 feet wire, misc. screws and nails)

Oddities:
    Contact lenses that create a harmless illusion over the face, giving two sets of softly glowing,  ceturl-like eyes(constantly worn)

I grew up in a ruin. They say it was from a past world. Maybe a thousand years old? But one day, I wake up from the sleeping bed, and the Overseer speaks to me. I am the only one to wake. No one else rises; this place becomes a tomb, frozen faces always on display. I do not return to this room, for the fear is palpable. I am alone; then, not. Overseer Alpha Nine (A-9) is there to welcome me to the future, to congratulate me on escaping the unnameable horrors that destroyed our society; is there to teach me.

I spend many years in the dark. We had to ration power. The singularity generator is failing; As I grow older, and into manhood, A-9 is on its metaphorical deathbed. Food and water reserves are running low; the drones that once scouted the outside have fallen, dead and inert, destroyed by interference, or simply wearing down. The tools and materials for repairs are expended. A-9 says I must go out into the world; start learning, adapting. Thriving.

Soon, A-9 must finally go to sleep, like the others. There's hardly any energy left. The armory doors open for me, for the last time. Most of the equipment is not salvageable. I am guided to a few select pieces, which I have practiced with over the years. I say goodbye to A-9.

People always ask me who I am. A-9 told me I had a name, but that it was lost. So, I chose: "Echo".  In leaving the old, dark ruins, I must make my way in the world. Maybe, I hope, I will find the right bits and pieces so that I can revive A-9; maybe even give "her" a better form, so she can travel the world with me. But, I know I'm lucky if I can just make it another day; the way things are...

I managed to learn to speak the Truth from A-9's spy drones taking videos of travelers and adventurers, as well as 'her' connection to the Datasphere. I can't help but wonder if I might be able to find her there... hmm.

Connection: Pick one other PC. This character has been your adventuring partner in previous expeditions, and the two of you work so well together that you both gain +1 to any die rolls when you collaborate on the same task, fight the same foe, and so on.

Interested as well. Playing with the rulebook as I've never played b4. We'll see how it goes, lol

Edit: I was creating my character step-by-step just inserting abilities and such as I read along to make a skeleton. Now that I'm rereading and actually comprehending my character choices, I think she's gonna be pretty badass. Thanks, @TheHangedMan for giving me a sheet to build off from. Really helped me organize everything ^_^

Going for a Charming Nano who is a Controller Beasts. Charming gives some interesting buffs and debuffs to the Nano focus, which really helped flesh out the personality. Loving this so far. Will have a finished character soon for judgement.

& specializes in Psionics!

Sweeter than your average chocolate bar, I'm easy to get along with and enjoy intimate conversations. If you're not careful, you just might fall in love! I rather avoid confrontation, but if you piss me off, prepare for a Fireball to the Face! And don't worry, I never miss! I have two pets that are also my best friends. They protect me and assist me in almost everything I do. My psychic abilities allow me to interface with almost any machine I come into contact with if given enough time. While I am pretty intelligent, studying was never my strong suit. And puzzles? Forget about it! If its not a machine, I'd break it before I'd figure it out. I also tend to get a little... fiery... as well. Sometimes my emotions get the better of me. My mental fortitude isn't always the strongest... oh well.

Skills: Genius, Expert Cypher Use, Practiced With Light Weapons, Numenera Training, Personable, Trained in all positive of pleasant social interactions, trained in all esoteries or abilities that influence the minds of others, Reduce the cost and speed penalty of armor by 1 (T3 Point Buy).
Inabilities: Increase Lore, Knowledge & Understanding by 1. Increase Mental Resistance Difficulty by 1.

Esoteries:

Onslaught (1 INT PT) - You attack a foe using energies that assail either his physical form or his mind. In either case, you must be able to see your target. If the attack is physical, you emit a short-range ray of force that inflicts 4 points of damage. If the attack is mental, you focus your mental energy to blast the thought processes of another creature within short range. This mind slice inflicts 2 points of Intellect damage (and thus ignores Armor). Some creatures without minds (such as automatons) might be immune to mind slice. Action


Scan (2 INT PT) -  You scan an area equal in size to a 10-foot (3-meter) cube, including all objects or creatures within that area. The area must be within short range. Scanning a creature or object always reveals its level (a
measure of how powerful, dangerous, or difficult it is). You also learn whatever facts the GM feels are pertinent about the matter and energy in that area. For example, you might learn that the wooden box contains a device of metal and synth. You might learn that the glass cylinder is full of poisonous gas, and that its metal stand has an electrical field running through it that connects to a metal mesh in the floor. You might learn that the creature standing before you is a mammal with a small brain. However, this esotery doesn’t tell you what the information means. Thus, in the first example, you don’t know what the metal and synth device does. In the second, you don’t know if stepping on the floor causes the cylinder to release the gas. In the third, you might suspect that the creature is not very intelligent, but scans, like looks, can be deceiving. Many materials and energy fields prevent or resist scanning. Action


Ward - You have a shield of energy around you at all times that helps deflect attacks. You gain +1 to Armor. Enabler.


Flash (4 INT PT) - You create an explosion of energy at a point within close range, affecting an area up to immediate range from that point. You must be able to see the location where you intend to center the explosion. The blast inflicts 2 points of damage to all creatures or objects within the area. Because this is an area attack, adding Effort to increase your damage works differently than it does for single-target attacks: if you apply a level of Effort to increase the damage, add 2 points of damage for each target, and even if you fail your attack roll, all targets in the area still take 1 point of damage. Action.


Targeting Eye - You are trained in any physical ranged attack that is an esotery or comes from a numenera device. For example, you are trained when using an Onslaught force blast because it’s a physical attack, but not when using an Onslaught mind slice because it’s a mental attack. Enabler.



Controller of Beasts:
The Duration of Calmness or Control effects are Doubled
Additional Equipment: You have three days’ worth of food for your beast companion, plus a harness, collar, or similar accouterments
Connection - Pick one other PC. That character seems to disturb your creatures in a way that you can’t explain. You know that you must keep your animals away from him if possible, or you might lose control of them.

Level 2 Creature Companion:
Symmian

Seskii
Resembling large dogs in stature and movement, these four-footed creatures are covered in hard,
overlapping scales. The intricate patterns on the scales range from greenish-brown to black-and-white
spotted to the reddish hue of embered coals. From their backs grow a mass of organic crystals. Standing
about knee-high to most humans, seskii have large teeth, pointed ears, and bulbous tail ends.


Motive: Hunger or loyalty

Environment: Anywhere, even urban areas

Health: 6

Damage Inflicted: 2 points

Armor: 2

Movement: Long

Modifications: Attacks as level 3 if wearing any type of manufactured armor, including a spiked collar,
daggered tail cover, or synthclaws. Defends against piercing weapons as level 3.

Combat: Seskii typically attack with their teeth and the hard, bulbous tips of their tails, although they might also claw or pounce. While the crystals provide armor, their scales provide them with additional protection against piercing weapons.

Interaction: Seskii engage in combat for one of two reasons: hunger or loyalty. When hungry, they often attack anything that seems edible, including other seskii. When they attack humans, it is typically to snatch any food being carried and race off with it, rather than eating human flesh. In terms of loyalty, seskii may become particularly devoted to anything and anyone, including other seskii, humans, statues that seem like creatures, and places they call home. They will fight to the death to defend a place or person they deem as their own. If a seskii in the wild is wearing manufactured armor, it means the creature was once someone’s favored companion. There is a good chance that the person is now long dead, as a seskii would not leave her side while she lived.

Use: Intelligent and loyal companions, seskii can be trained in various methods of hunting, stealth, and attack by those who have skills with animals. Many humans outfit their seskii with special types of weapons and armor—spiked collars are a favorite

Soothe the Savage (2 INT PT) - You calm a nonhuman beast within 30 feet (9 m). You must speak to it (although it doesn’t need to understand your words), and it must see you. It remains calm for one minute or for as long as you focus all your attention on it. The GM has final say over what counts as a nonhuman beast, but unless some kind of deception is at work, you should know whether you can affect a creature before you attempt to use this ability on it. Aliens, extra-dimensional entities, very intelligent creatures, and automatons never count. Action


Communication (2 INT PT) - You can convey a basic concept to a creature that normally can’t speak or understand speech. The creature can also give you a very basic answer to a simple question. Action.

Raster (Adolescent)
Rasters are biomechanical creatures that use antigravity suspensors and large, batlike wings to carry themselves aloft at great speed despite their size. A typical raster has a 30-foot (9.1 m) wingspan. They are native to the land of Ancuan in the southern region of the Steadfast.

Motive: Hungers for flesh

Environment: Rasters dwell in clutches of three to five, usually not far from a large body of water.

Health: 18 (Reduced to 9 since LVL 3)

Damage Inflicted: 4 points (Reduced to 3 since LVL 3)

Armor: 1

Movement: Long while flying; short while on the ground

Modifications: Perception within long range as level 5, but beyond that, as level 2.

Combat: Rasters avoid danger and combat if possible. If they must fight, they prefer to use a long-range energy generator in their head that fires bursts of invisible energy (long range, 6 points of damage). They never fight to the death, as it is usually easy for them to escape by flying away.

Interaction: Sometimes rasters are encountered in the wild, nesting on rocky islands along the coast. More often, however, they are tamed, trained, and used as aerial mounts. Riders use sonic prods to control them.

Use: A small clutch of rasters has moved into a ruined keep not far from a small town. The mayor, who wants to refurbish and use the keep, seeks mercenaries to clear out the rasters. Meanwhile, local raiders have put the word out that they would pay well for any young rasters brought to them alive.

Loot: The biomechanical nature of a raster means that its body contains 1d6 – 2 cyphers (which also means
that some bodies have none).

Qiyanna spent most of her life under the tutelage of an esteemed Warlock, Thamalda. Within the confines of the academy in which she studied, Qiyanna learned poise, dignity, & grace alongside her study of the arcane. Never one to enjoy the tedium of study, Qi was always a wandering mind. Regardless of the level of discipline, the only thing that seemed to keep the girl focused was matters of nature and the outside world.

Thamalda gifted the airy girl a Seskii in hopes that the creature would exhaust her overactive mind. This scheme worked... to an extent. While Qiyanna finally found a focus, it pulled away from her overarching studies. Thamalda, as cunning and adaptive as she is, themed her lessons around the natural world. Whilst not quickest study of theoretical subjects, Qiyanna excelled in more practical uses of the arcane.

Life changed drastically for Qiyanna when war touched her homeland. The academy where she studied was destroyed and many of her friends were lost in this conflict. Thamalda saved her life by teleporting her apprentice to a faraway place Qi has never been to before. This was the last time the girl has ever seen or heard from anyone from her past life.

Qiyanna traveled aimlessly from village to woodland in search of her way home, doing whatever is necessary to survive.

I’m working on a Glaive who Fuses Flesh and Steel, but some of the mid tier stuff gives me the option to integrate my equipment and cyphers into my character’s ‘build’, so to speak. Can you give me a baseline for how many shins my total gear can be worth, or let me roll up cyphers and oddities first? Any chance I can sacrifice part of a rank for a starting artifact to integrate or something?

Damnit, you’re right, I was going by memory. And now that I’ve sat down with the book, the weaponized trait is only for light or medium weapons, which isn’t really the build I was going for.

I’m thinking of going with Rages as my focus, with Biomechanical modification as my character’s background. Full character incoming soon.

Maybe while travelling Qiyanna's Seskii sniffed up and found Echo. For whatever reason, they hung out for a bit and Echo might have told her about A-9? Qiyanna, being good with machines, agrees to possibly help revive A-9 and decides to travel with Echo to that end?
