Thanks to a certain SOMEONE in the Shoutbox this morning I now have a craving for a story based on mythology. I'm looking for maybe three to four people at minimum to create a story about ancient gods living in modern times. Your character can be from any religion. The one I am working on is Egyptian. I am still working on the details, but I would prefer to work them out with my writing partners to create something we can all be happy with. I want the story to open to characters of any gender or sexual orientation and does not have to be limited to the gods/goddesses. If you have a creature you'd like to play, by all means, fill out a character sheet and shoot me a PM. Multiple characters are also allowed, even encouraged! I love playing multiples.

I'll post mine in the next post for an example. :3

So, What to do??

1) Fill out a Character Sheet and PM it to me. We can sort out character details.
2) If approved, we'll start discussing details of the story and start world building.

That's pretty much it. Yay for being simple!

Now, What kind of themes are we looking at?

As I said, I prefer to create this world with my partners so I only have the bare minimum of stuff here. If this seems like something you're interested in, but aren't sure, we can talk before you begin a character. This is my first time attempting a group RP but I'll answer any questions I can! I only bite when asked! :P I will say that I don't want to be too restrictive here. I think that once we have some people interested, we can, as a group, decide what we will and won't let be part of the story and that will be added to a later post.

Males: VI
Females: VI
Not that this matters, I'm just keeping a tally.

APPROVED CHARACTERS

Spiritfox
Name: Apep
Alias:
Appeared Age: 26
Sex: Male
Sexual preference: Bisexual, but prefers men
Species: God
Origin: Egypt
Brief History: Apep was the ancient Egyptian god of destruction and chaos, the epitome of all that was evil in the world. He was known as "The Great Serpent" and "The Great Destroyer." It was said he waited at the horizon every morning for the boat carrying the sun god, Ra, to pass by and that Ra had to defeat him each day in order for the sun to rise again. These tales stem from a prank gone wrong that sent the mortals of the age into a wild hysteria when Apep jokingly swallowed Ra's ship as it was high in the sky one day... inadvertently creating the solar eclipse... Furious with the supposed "disrespect" shown to him, Ra cast Apep to the bottom of the Egyptian totem pole, painting him as harbinger of destruction and discouraging mortals from worshipping the serpent deity.

Unlike most of the ancient Pantheons, when the Egyptian Pantheon fell from popularity it retained its previous hierarchy. This angered Apep and he fled Egypt, vowing to never again allow someone else to have dominion over his life. He's travelled the world over for centuries, reestablishing himself each time he settles in a new place. Honoring the event that labelled him as a god of chaos and evil, Apep plans his movements based on the cycle of the solar eclipse, appearing in the place that offers the best view of the celestial phenomena.
Personality: Apep doesn't quite live up to the reputation the Old World developed for him. Truthfully, he's more the playful trickster than the infamous destroyer, but you play one prank and the whole of the universe never lets you live it down. Which is fine by him. Snarky and arrogant, this green-eyed devil plays by his rules and his alone.
Likes:
General- Apep has a thing for motorcycles and, secretly, has a soft spot for cats. He's drawn to people with a knack for mischief.
Sexual- Intelligence - He loves someone who can play on his level. Rough sex - Whether he's manhandling a woman, or being manhandled by a man, Apep likes to play a little rough.
Dislikes:
General- Authority, Mortals, the beach...
Sexual- Submission - He might be on the receiving end of things, but don't mistake it. Implants - Total buzzkill to grab silicone. Bathroom play - Seriously. Don't do it. He'll throat punch you.
Special Abilities: Apep's gaze can hypnotize those with a weaker mental constitution than himself. He can use this to bend people to his will, leaving them dazed and confused afterwards.
O/O:

Name: Pele
Alias: "Penelope" amongst mortals
Appeared Age: 23
Sex: Female
Sexual preference: Men (Mostly)
Species: Goddess
Origin: Hawaii
Brief History: Pele was the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes. She is the one credited with the creation of the islands of Hawaii. It was said she could change form,  often appearing as a young, beautiful woman, an elderly old woman, or as a large white dog. She is also a patron goddess of hula dancing. After a falling out with one of her sisters, Pele chose to leave Hawaii rather than risk a confrontation. She is extremely family oriented and as much as she hated to leave them behind, she would rather live in exile than have her family torn apart because of her.

Pele is still worshipped in Hawaii by the natives of the islands, but has more or less "retired" since her departure, preferring to spend her days sharing her passion for dancing with children at her dance studio or staying home and using to her pyrokinesis to create glass figurines and other trinkets. She sells her creations to raise money for a charity that helps fund art programs for schools.
Personality:  Despite a hidden feisty streak, she is a more laid back individual with a kind heart. Her friends are her family and mean more to her than life. She's more than willing to throw down to protect them. She's particularly protective of her mortal friends.
Likes:
General- Kids, animals, music, going out with friends
Sexual- Intelligent, strong-willed men with a good sense of humor. She also enjoys the look of a full figured woman. She doesn't necessarily want to sleep with them, she just likes to look.
Dislikes:
General- Arrogant motherflippers, People who are cruel for no reason, and people who claim pineapple doesn't belong on pizza
Sexual- Boring people or testosterone-fueled meatheads
Special Abilities: Pyrokinesis and shape-shifting.
O/O:

LamentingQuill
Name: Persephone
Alias: Daisy Springvale
Appeared Age:21
Sex: Female
Sexual preference:Men
Species: Goddess
Origin:Greek
Brief History:Goddess of Spring and new life, the daughter of the Harvest Goddess Demeter... has a story that anyone with a love for ancient mythology, however the story mortals know a little bit too well is an inaccurate piece of propaganda spread around by followers of Hades that couldn't quite swallow that the lord of the dead didn't get what he wanted.

Hades did appear before Persophone that in that meadow where she was peacefully making a crown of wild flowers, he did attempt to proposition her to become his queen, she outright refused him and of course... he did not take well to being told no and as told in the story, tried to kidnap her... but where the story going into total falsehood is that the abduction was successful. It was not.

Demeter happened to coming to fetch her daughter for the evening meal... she caught Hades in the act of trying to force Persephone to leave with him and Demeter attacked him with all the fury of Earth, Hades was sent packing back to the Underworld with a clear warning never to try that stunt ever again.

Persephone assumed Hades was too humiliated to show his face, because she never saw him again after that... but then, it could also have something to do with the fact that she and her mother changed locations for their home and warded themselves this time to hide them from being spied upon by Hades or anyone from the Underworld.

As the gods popularlity dwindled over the years and they faded into mere legends, Persephone and her mother have lived in many different places under many different identities and names, way too many to list and describe going all the way back from Ancient Greece.

In present day, Persephone goes by the name Daisy Springvale and works as a vet at the local animal shelter in the town she currently calls home.

Personality: Persephone has a very upbeat and cheerful personality, she is very kind and warm of heart, you couldn't possibily have a more loyal friend willing to always have your back and support you, no matter the risks or consequences.

Incredibly nuturing and genuine, Persephone is someone that even the grouchiest person in the world would have difficult time disliking, she's also quite quirky and doesn't much care if others think her strange for it, she's quite happy being the way she is.

The goddess of Spring can also be quite feisty with a whole lotta spunk, she's been the damsel in distress once in her life... she didn't like it and she'll never be weak again.

Animals hold a very special place in Persephone's heart, they are so pure and innocent, cats, dogs and cutsy little rabbits are her favorite... hence her choice to become a veterinarian in the modern age.
Likes: Flowers, fluffy animals, white wine, the colors baby pink and pastel green, classic human literature, fireworks, going to the beach, gardening and blending her own herbal tea.
Dislikes: nature pollution, mean people, gods that sacrifice children, animal abuse, men incapable of commitment, hard alcohol and red meat.
Special Abilities:Manipulation of nature, healing (herself and others) and communication with animals.
O/O: Everything you need to know right here

Glamoured human look

True self
Name: Samhain
Alias: Sam Hanes
Appeared Age:21-25
Sex: Male
Sexual preference:Women
Species:God
Origin: Celtic
Brief History: Samhain. Celtic God of the Harvest, Lord of the Hallows, The Pumpkin King, Harbinger of Shadows. This dark mysterious god is known as many things.

Back in the days of old, Samhain was big among the Celts and Pagans, all they had to do was sacrifice a male and female to him every ten years on All Hallows Eve and he would ensure that all ten years leading up to the next sacrifice were flourishing with a bountiful high quality harvest and good fortune, villages that participated in this were also granted protection from the things lurking in the dark shadows of night that answered to Samhain's authority.

This tribute and reverence from his worshippers kept Samhain strong and powerful for many, many years.

Unfortunately... as was happening with many deities over the years as times changed and progressed, worshippers decreased as superstitions became 'silly' and viewed as 'old wives tales'... Samhain himself was forgotten and reduced to a mere holiday, his immense power as a result was sliced in half... the practicing pagans left in the world thankfully, kept him from falling into the ranks of a lower caste god.

In this present day, Samhain busies himself with his private owned orchard and garden in his own time, while working as a Gothic male model. Which helps to supplement the halved worship he got from the pagans of old, but the worship he gets from his human fans revering 'Sam Hanes' is much more watered down than what he'd get from those worshipping him as himself. It helps in lean times though, he won't deny that. Especially since no sacrifices people to their gods anymore... the impudent disrespectful mortals.
Personality: Samhain has a very cool and suave personality, he tends to give off a very mysterious air.

Some people claim to be entirely creeped out after one look into his eyes, the individuals feeling as though they've just felt the most eerie shiver run down the spines and their blood run cold. Others, more women than not, claim his eerie nature has a sort of alluring and mysterious quality to it, making them feel drawn to his strange beauty.

When interacting with Samhain, it's hard to tell how he's going to respond to each individual... but he does have a habit of giving off the impression to a good many of being potentially rather... unhinged... not really crazy, but not sane either... and entirely unpredictable on top of all that...

Likes:
General~ Halloween, Pumpkin centered food, the color black, gardening, looking fabulous, feminine women, night time, being worshipped, being given tribute, everything spooky, Fall and the changing hues of the leaves.

Sexual~ Blow jobs (receiving), Cunilingus (giving), missionary and cowgirl (his partner riding him), foreplay, medium size to large breasts, rough dominant sex (he must be the dominant), the sounds a woman makes in the throes of lust and passion. (Ask if curious about something unspecified)

Dislikes:
General~ Winter, overly perky mortals, being disrespected by mortals, bright cheerful colors and poorly cared for crops.

Sexual~ Deh butt stuff, bathroom ickiness, S&M, humiliation (giving or receiving), heavy bondage, toys (He doesn't need any help, thanks), Tomboyish females and small breasts. (Ask if curious about anything not specified)
Special Abilities:
Father of Fear~ Samhain has the ability to induce sensations of fear and terror within mortals and lesser gods, he can also summon illusions of what an individual is most afraid of. A strong highly disciplined mind stands a fairly decent chance of seeing past the illusions and thus breaking the magic.

Harvest God~ Samhain can influence the growth and quality of vegetable and fruit crops.

Lord of the Hallows~ Samhain holds great power over the creatures that go bump in the night, like vampires, ghouls and demons as an example, he can almost always make them bend to his will. They both fear and rever him for this power. Some creatures are powerful enough now to resist him however with his decreased power level.

SirensGod
Name: Poseidon
Alias: Dr. Trent Waters (for mortals)
Appeared Age: 25-30
Sex: Male
Sexual preference: Mostly Men. (He’s strongly opposed to accidentally having more children.)
Species: God
Origin: Greek
Brief history: Poseidon, god of the Sea and other waters. He was known for being a very powerful and vengeful god as well as one of the 12 Olympians. As the years crawled by he and the other Olympians were worshiped less and less, reduced to mere myth in the eyes of most. As the humans progressed and no longer feared him they used his beautiful oceans and waters like dumpsters. Inspite of his furry there was nothing he could do to stop these foul creatures from  poisoning his waters and killing its inhabitants. With a damaged pride and broken spirit left the ocean for many years to live in Olympus with the other forgotten gods.

Not that most of them were willing to acknowledge the fact that, once great and powerful, they were now nobodies. Particularly, his brother Zeus failed to see himself for what he really was now. Poseidon bit his tongue while his foolish brother still pretended to be the greatest gift ever given to the universe. After so many many years he and most of the other forgotten gods grew tired of his brother and decided to leave. He felt that blending into human society would no doubt be better than subjecting himself to Zeus’s arrogance for another century.
Personality: Honestly he doesn’t even know who he is anymore. His famous rage is now reduced to angry grumbles and occasional storms.
Likes: Clean water, people that recycle, horses, drinking, meaningless sex, not making more babies.
Sexual appetite: Hungry and down for most things.
Dislikes: Zeus, careless people that don’t clean up after themselves, most humans, children, being ignored.
Special abilities: Domain over all bodies of water, ability to create storms, limited ability over earth quakes(his dulled rage isn’t strong enough anymore).

Name: Misty (for humans)
Alias: Siren(stripper name)
Appeared Age: 20
Sex: Female
Sexual preference: Anything that moves
Species: Siren
Origin: Unknown
Brief History: She was most devastatingly beautiful Siren with the most powerful voice. She shipwrecked hundreds of thousands of men and devoured them with a smile on her lovely face. It was her fierceness and beauty that quickly made her Poseidon’s favorite. When Posidon decided to leave the ocean he gifted her with the ability to walk on land. Their friendship has withstood the test of time over and over again. Life without the other would seem impossible. They now live together as roommates.
Personality: Party girl, loud, energetic, bubbly, slutty.
Likes:
General- Sex, having fun, playing tricks, manipulating men, tacos, cute fuzzy things.
Sexual- Pretty much everything with a tendency torward roughness and BDSM.
Dislikes:
General- Prudes, boring people, people that are shit in bed and talk a big game, fishing.
Sexual- Being spit on. (No seriously she’ll fucking fight you.)
Special Abilities: Skilled in the art of seduction, a heavenly voice, unnaturally good looks. If she chooses she can still change back to her natural form.

IrishWolf
Name: Dionysus
Alias: Dylan Hughes
Appeared Age: 28-32
Sex: Male
Sexual preference: Women
Species: God
Origin: Greek
Brief History: The son of Zeus and a mortal woman, Dionysus was and still counts himself as the God of grape-harvest, wine making and wine, of fertility, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, and theater. Unlike most of the other Greek Gods, he's not really in the myths, mostly because he spent a good portion of his time, just wondering the countryside with his band of female followers and drunken satyrs, wine music and wild parties in the woods. That said, he was the God who granted King Midas the power to turn everything he touched into gold. To be fair, he did warn the man that it was a bad wish and did tell him how to get rid of the ability, once King Midas figured out his mistake. He also turned some pirates into dolphins, once or twice.

With the rise of Christianity and their views on the sinful nature of his cults, Dionysus went to ground, keeping a low profile for the most part. He was very good friends with William Shakespeare and helped fund the  Globe Theatre. He did however, revel in his worship once again, at least for a little while, in the Hellfire clubs in the 1700s. He nearly blew his cover more then a few dozen times between the 60s and the 80s, landing himself in jail several times, after beat downs from cops, although he was able to walk out each time, mostly because ropes can't bind him and locks don't work around him. Hippies, free love and LSD caught his attention, as did Rave and ecstasy.

In the modern day, he's living in America and really enjoying the craft beer scene. He owns a vineyard and a orchard, spending most of his time either making wine or cider from what he grows or working in a microbrewery. He still throws one hell of a party now and then.
Personality: As a general rule, Dionysus is rather laid back, all about enjoying the pleasures in life but he can suddenly fly into fits of rage, which he works hard to keep under control. He also has to work very hard to keep himself at home, even thought he loves all the brewing and fermenting, he still has the urge to just wander off and randomly start orgies in nearby cities or find underground parties, with all the music and party drugs he can handle. However that kind of thing, tends to attract the unwanted attention of the authorities. To help scratch that itch, he takes trips across the globe, to see new things and find new lovers.
Likes:
General- Wine, beer, cider, all the new music humans have come up with, seeing a show, throwing a party, music festivals
Sexual- Oral (give and receiving), multiple partners, orgies, fucking until you drop, being dominate
Dislikes:
General- Teetotalers, the Straight edge scene, abstinence in general, getting raided by the cops, the attempt to put him behind bars
Sexual- Bathroom stuff, being submissive, being in bondage (mostly because it doesn't work on him), anal (receiving anyways)
Special Abilities: Being the God of wine, he can make wine on the spot, either by squeezing grapes or by turning water to wine. Jesus totally stole that trick from him.

He can also boost the potency of alcohol and drugs.

RipTide
Name: Durga
Alias: Parvati "Vi" Mahajan
Appeared Age: 25-40
Sex: Female
Sexual preference: Men, but also women when it suits her.
Species: Goddess
Origin: Hinduism/Sumerian
Brief History: There are few who aren't aware of Durga's ferocity in battle. Created by Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the other gods to defeat the demon Mahishasura, she earned her name and her status as the supreme devi after 10 days of arduous battle, but mother protector is just scratching the surface. She has many aliases and many faces, and few know her by her oldest and truest name; Ishtar.

Before her Hindu worshippers adopted her, she was known as the goddess of love and fertility in addition to being the goddess of war. Back then, she had many lovers and admirers. She rather enjoyed her promiscuity, but in order to live on in the hearts of her followers, she was forced to abandon these title. For too long she has been portrayed as the vision of purity and modesty, and Durga finds herself wishing to be worshipped as she once used to be.

Leaving behind the rest of her incarnations to keep up appearances, Durga has granted herself an extended vacation. She has come to New Orleans to experience love, to restore her popularity among men who once used to worship her, and to simply let loose. As such, she has taken it upon herself to open up a high-end gentleman's club which also acts as a refuge for lost and battered women. Most would think the two were contradictory, but she allows women to choose for themselves, and empowers them to harness their sexuality to make money if they wish while protecting them as if they were her own children.

Personality: Durga has many personas and incarnations, but she is fearlessness in both combat, love, and business, and her devotion makes her a particularly advantageous ally. She holds no regard for fragile emotions or insecurity, and because she is so bold, she will not tiptoe nor will she withhold the truth when it might cause pain. She is a firm believer that truth and knowledge are the path to true freedom; freedom from doubt.

And yet she also has a softer side. Durga, in the from of Parvati, will be the first to offer comfort when it is needed. It is in her maternal instinct to protect her loved ones from evil no matter the cost and she has long been adored because of this.

Her downfall lies in her vanity, her constant need to be in control, and her desire to be loved.

Likes:
General- Luxury, pampering, yoga and meditation, any type of curry, romantic Bollywood films, dancing and singing, and exotic animals.
Sexual- Oral sex (both giving and receiving), bending a strong man to her will, being worshiped physically, and intense, passionate sex. Durga is never one to hurry; she will take her time to ensure both her and her partner are satisfied before she is through. On occasion, she likes to be made to submit.
Dislikes:
General- Cold weather, being underestimated, being lied to or double-crossed, unintelligent people.
Sexual- Anal, bathroom play, torture or mutilation, humiliation, rape.
Special Abilities: As both mother and lover, Durga can appear either young and doe-eyed or maternal and wise. It all depends on what her partners yearn for, and what's required in terms of comfort.

She can wield a variety of weapons ranging from a bow and arrow, sword, a golden discus, to a lightning bolt.

Multi-tasking. She doesn't have so many arms for nothing (her human form only has one set of arms, but her lovers would beg to differ ;) ).
O/O: Here

Galactic_Druid
Name: Freyr
Alias: Lief
Appeared Age: Early 30s
Sex: Male
Sexual preference: Technically pan, but with a strong preference towards the feminine form
Species: Vanir, recognized and worships as an Aesir
Origin: Norse
Brief History: For years, the Aesir and Vanir waged war on on one another, long before the world was made. At some point, the two clans of gods came to the decision that it was be far more productive to kill giants than one another. Part of that decision was an exchange of clan members. The Aesir sent one of their best warriors and generals, while the Vanir sent Freyr and his sister, Freya. Both of them were gods of fertility, though Freya was more a goddess of love, childbirth, and sex, while Freyr is a god of pleasure, fertility in both land and nature, and of rain and the sun.

The stories of Ragnarok were... greatly exaggerated to say the least. While it was true the realm of the gods fell, far fewer died than one might believe. Many, like Freyr, live  in seclusion in midgar, in one way or another. Freyr, or Lief as he's known by mortals, runs a Riverside Longhouse and Meadery just at the edge of the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge. There are few ways to get there outside of a riverboat tour or a trip through the industrial area, but the meadery thrives all the same thanks to tours and and sales of his line local brews.

Though he doesn't openly advertise it, every once in a while his venue will host a 'natural fertility' support night for couples struggling to conceive. Word has it the events are very successful....

Personality: More laid back than his Aesir counterparts, and will actively seek a peaceful resolution to most conflicts, even ones he wasn't involved in. That said, he's not one to shy from a fight if he's provoked or sees the need to protect something he cares about. At times, he can be both compassionate and passionate, and cares very deeply that those around him, especially his customers, are happy. A very generous lover, it's important to him that both he and his partner find pleasure in the act.

Likes:
General- Mead, Beer, Generosity, both in the act of being generous and from his partners, Nature, Riverboat rides, Being around content people, especially ones that are that way because of him
Sexual- Oral of all kinds, and is willing to try just about anything once. Everything has it's place and time, and he enjoys it all, both passionate lovemaking and wild fucking
Dislikes:
General- People that don't tip his staff, pests and rodents, general acts of selfishness
Sexual- Anything that might be considered Cruel or Non-consensual
Special Abilities: A natural green thumb and the ability to grow things much more quickly and out of season, A mild control of the weather, he'd be able to turn sunshine into a light shower and back again, but stopping a raging blizzard or tornado is beyond him, as the winds are beyond his domain, and the ability to assure, at least with mortals, that a person's next 'session' results in a pregnancy
O/O: The Deep Rooted Desires of a Druid

Wyatt
Name: Sethlans
Alias: Seth Lawson
Appeared Age: Late 30’s
Sex: M
Sexual preference: Women
Species: God
Origin: Etruscan Pantheon

Brief History: Neither the first or last of his lineage, Sethlans was recognized rightly as the God of Fire and Forge during the time of his reign, such as it was, among the Gods of the Etruscan civilization.  Unlike Haephestus who would come along later, and Vulcan after him, Sethlans neither claimed power over the volcanoes in which his forge was stoked nor fell foolishly in love with Goddesses of Love and Beauty (and vanity and cruelty) such as Aphrodite and Venus.  Whether luckier, shrewder or simply more grounded than his successors whose own pantheons and peers were all the more well-known and worshipped more widely than his own, it mattered not.  The master of metal making and working, whether for chalices and cutlery, jewelry and adornments or exquisite pieces of weaponry, was never the sort to seek the limelight or the favor of the empty hearted.

Rather than seek his place among those later pantheons, Sethlans’ life changed little as the Etruscan civilization wound down and evolved into others.  He traveled the world honing his skills in nation after nation and time upon time, not being lost like a relic of the past, but instead playing a quiet hand in innovating designs and methods and tools and weapons century after century, while always knowing that few women could resist a piece of unique jewelry crafted with his soul as much as his heart.  While other gods and goddesses were more famed for their flamboyant and extravagant passions and peccadilloes, few could ever truly match the heat within the heart and soul of Sethlans, nor his determination and focus.  A man’s man, a working man with simple and powerfully desirous tastes, he might well have been called the God of the blue collar worker, though more truly he was and is a craftsman first and foremost.

A physically powerful creature, Seth settled in Louisiana as a metal smith and craftsman amongst the large sugar cane plantations north of New Orleans in the 1800’s, before moving south and working on creating new metal ship designs at the port of New Orleans in the 20th century.  Currently he teaches at the NOLA School of Metalsmithing and runs a small forge and craft store of his own famed for custom made daggers, swords and jewelry pieces of silver, gold, and his favorite, bronze, that are sold worldwide via the internet as sought after collector’s pieces and treasures.
Personality: Seth can be quiet and seemingly reserved when one first meets him, but over time his passions and boisterous nature emerge as he gets to know someone better.  The champion of the little guy and the underdog, Seth despises those who bully and coerce others into servitude and out of their own money.  Working in the plantations during the days before the American Civil War and having seen slavery in all of its awful forms for nearly countless centuries, he can no longer tolerate such things and when roused to action is fierce and formidable to say the least.  Not the sort to have use for anyone unwilling to give a day’s honest work, romantically he is drawn to women of passionate intellect, those who work with their minds and imaginations as much or more than their hands.

Likes:

General-   Seth loves to fish and hunt, is an avid outdoorsman and has a place up in the bayou that he goes to relax.  He drives a Hummer, military conversion not purely civilian, and enjoys tinkering his vehicle and several boats he owns.  An avid follower of American Football, despite living in New Orleans and rooting generally for the local team, the Saints, he cannot help but to have a place in his heart for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Has an affinity for steaks and seafood, good bourbon and the occasional fine cigar.

Sexual-   Seth is a dyed in the wool romantic, definitely falls on the Dominant side of things but more by nature of his strength and will than by any BDSM characterization.  He enjoys women who are adventurous, physically curvaceous and whom have a more nature and well developed sense of their own passions and sexual selves.  He finds confidence and imagination sexy and loves a woman who eats heartily, rather than salads and smoothies and things of that nature.

Dislikes:

General- Laziness of mind or body, excuses, opera and small dogs that yip and loudmouths.  People who gossip and get into everyone else’s business and anyone who doesn’t give others a fair shake.  Despises soccer and can’t understand why the peoples of his homeland like the sport so damnably much.

Sexual-  Playing games, weak and/or manipulative women, overt vanity and too much makeup.  He isn’t into anything that involves acts that involve things the more grotesque Roman and Greek cultures might have enjoyed at the height of their most decadent and, in his opinion, useless phases.

Special Abilities: Seth possesses the physical strength and stamina equal to that of nearly a dozen average men, and is quite and surely fireproof.

O/O: Catch his eye, pique his curiosity, ignite his passions and never be afraid to be the woman you are.  Those are his Ons, anything else is an Off.

tangerine
Name: Tamayori-hime
Alias: Tamako Shimizu (Sometimes goes by the English name, "Jewel")
Appeared Age: 18
Sex: Female
Sexual preference: Definitely won't admit that she kissed a girl and liked it.  Or guys either for that matter.
Species: Sea Dragon
Origin: East China Sea
Brief History: Konnichiwa!  I'm Tamayori-hime, the younger daughter of the sea dragon god.  Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!  I was loving my life under the sea, when my big sister, Toyotama-oneechan had to go off and fall in love and get married with some guy on the land.  Okay, sure that guy was a total hunk, and yeah, being a grandson of Amaterasu wasn't a terrible pedigree.  But one day Oneechan came home to the Sea Dragon palace, sobbing, having fled her peeping husband.  And only afterwards realized that she left her son behind.  Guess who gets tasked to fix her mess?

You all know the story, ne?  I got to play babysitter, nurse and mom to my nephew, until he grew up, develops an Oedipus complex towards me, through which I gave birth to Jimmu-tenno, who would become the first Emperor of Japan.  Except the part about me giving birth to Jimmu-tenno is a complete lie.  I don't know who invented that legend, but ew!  At the first sign of Oneechan's kid giving me the ogly-eyes (I guess peeping runs among the males in this family), I packed my bags and returned home.  It's been a couple thousand years now, and that story still won't die no matter how much I try to correct it.  Hmph!

When the local humans got themselves all industrialized, our waters started getting really yucky, so I moved back to land.  I attended some human schools while figuring out how they live, then travelled around the world, discovering a whole variety of yummy food.  I decided to settle for a while from my travels in this place the humans call "New Orleans," and opened a bakery there, while supplementing my income a bit by occasionally selling my dragon tears to discrete buyers. [/b]

Personality:  Tamayori-hime is a sweet girl, willing to be helpful, and to experience the most that life offers.  But when she gets annoyed or embarrassed, she switches to Tsundere mode, refusing to admit that anything good or favorable towards the cause of her flustered state. A reliable way to trigger her tsundere side is to remind her of that story of what allegedly happened that one time she tried helping her elder sister.
Likes:
General- Desserts and baked goods - she has a major sweet tooth.  Cute clothes.  Jewelry.  Books (a spread of fiction and non-fiction, but romance novels have been a guilty pleasure).  K-Pop.  K-Dramas.  Anime and Cosplay.  Marie Kondo.
Sexual- If she likes it she'll probably try a little too hard to deny it.
Dislikes:
General- Unfriendly, mean, or cruel people.  An untidy house.  Water pollution.
Sexual- Peeping toms and incest (cf. backstory)
Special Abilities: Storm-calling, and the ability to live underwater and speak with sea creatures.  When she cries on land, her tears crystalize and have healing properties for those (other than herself) who ingest them.  The tears dissolve in water.

Name: Amaterasu
Alias: Ama Nakamoto
Appeared Age: 21
Sex: Female
Sexual preference: She prefers women, but she's attracted to both.
Species: Goddess
Origin: Japan
Brief History: Amaterasu is deemed as the Japanese goddess of the sun.
It is said she painted the landscape of Japan with her two brothers Susanoo and Tsukuyomi, who also used to be her husband. (Until he killed the goddess of food and that upset her quite a bit, and she made him the god of the moon just so he wouldn't be associated with her anymore.)

Susanoo often insulted Amaterasu, as part of the rivalry they had stretched out over a long-standing period, but at one point she decided to plunge herself into a cave in a fit of rage, making the sun disappear, until the Goddess of Dawn danced promiscuously outside of the cave, drawing her out for sexy times.
Eventually she forgave her brother for the insult and made the sun appear once more, and she realized it may have been slightly overdramatic, but she'd never let him know she felt that way.

Over the past thousands of years, Amaterasu has grown bored with her immortal life, and she took a new role as a college student named Ama Nakamoto, and decided to exchange to a college in New Orleans on a quest to see more of the world (and also partying) - not knowing what new things would be waiting for her as a 'mortal'.
Personality: Most of the time Ama has a spunky, upbeat personality, but the Goddess has a streak of being hot-headed. She's very easily triggered, but has no real quarrel with the people who make her angry.
By mortals she's described as being 'prissy', but being a goddess for thousands of years will affect a girl like that.
Likes: Women, pretty clothes, jewelry, animals, painting, music, men (sometimes), languages.
Dislikes: Cruelty to women or children, sacrificial religions.
Special Abilities: Influence over the sun (she can't do a lot since her powers are lessened, but she can make time seem to pass a little faster), she can make the temperature go up or down. She also has the ability to transform into a wolf, but she rarely does it because hair gets everywhere.

Who could that someone possibly be?

I’m super interested in this, and strongly debating Freyr or Vidarr (going with that spelling because I don’t have to use copy/paste every time I need to use his name, lol), or possibly Loki. But before I jump in, I want to make sure I can fully commit to what you’re looking for; what kind of posting speed are you hooping for from everyone? I’m not the faster poster on E, and I want to be sure I don’t hold your game back...

I wonder who it could have been....

That is a good question. I was hoping everyone could come to an agreement once we get enough people. I would personally enjoy at least a once a week commitment. However, everyone has a RL outside of E and that has to take priority. So if we get this thing up and moving I think I'll add a thread for outside communication where people can post if they need more time, if they need to go on hiatus, or whatever the case may be.

I'm not familiar with Vidarr. I'll to look them up. I would like to see characters that aren't usually done, which is why I chose Apep and Pele for myself. I'm looking forward to seeing who we get in the story! :D

Working on Samhain as a second character.

Once a week sounds very possible for me. Truth be told, I’m pretty heavily leaning towards Freyr. He’s a Norse god, but he’s Vanir, and as such, more in tune with nature. He’s an interesting character IMO, because he’s a nature and fertility god, which are much more commonly women. The Vanir are characteristically less.... what’s the word I’m looking for here... less “Hardcore” than the Aesir gods, but that’s a very relative term, as even the most gentle Norse gods are pretty fucking metal in comparison to most pantheons. Anyway, I think he’d be a lot of fun to play, and being a nature god, it would be a great excuse to play him as a Druid.

By all means! ^.^ We need some of the other pantheons!

Something I've been working up the courage to ask: do you allow original characters?  I've never really felt overly confident playing someone else's concept, even if the source material was made thousands of years ago.

Technically, Samhain is original. I took several myths and legends about the Samhain holiday and made something new with them.

I would consider all of these characters as original. I mean, they are loosely based upon mythological deities/creatures, but twisted into our own vision of them. Shoot me a PM with your idea! :D I'd love to see it!

Still waiting for a couple more people to submit their characters, so why don't we discuss a bit while we wait?

I was considering where this might take place. I would like somewhere warm considering no one so far seems to have characters that enjoy cold weather. Apep being a snake deity wouldn't care for cold climates. Poseidon, Siren, and Pele probably would enjoy a beach nearby. Samhain specifically listed a dislike for winter. California comes to mind, obviously, but is perhaps overdone? I'm leaning towards New Orleans maybe? Warm weather, rich culture to play with.

Thoughts? I'd love everyone's input. :D

I wouldn't mind something like Hawaii or maybe the Florida keyes? Of maybe a community in central America or Mexico? Basically somewhere with a good bit of nature nearby. ;)

I considered this as well, Druid! New Orleans has a lot of nature parks and wetlands nearby. The Keys are just a little too close to home for me. I want to write about a place I can't drive to on an afternoon excursion. :P As for foreign countries, I wouldn't mind except for the fact that I'm unfortunately not bilingual and I would hate to butcher or halfass it, so I would prefer somewhere where English is the main language spoke. (Not that you couldn't hop on a boat in New Orleans and ride down to the Gulf of Mexico.)

Dionysus in the house!

Hey Wolf! Welcome to the party! :P

I figured Dionysus would enjoy the party scene in New Orleans. ^-^

Hello!  Would this roleplay be open to having an initially chaste, somewhat tsundere Japanese sea dragon goddess involved?

QuoteSexual preference: Mostly Men. (He’s strongly opposed to accidentally having more children.)

I just about died when I read this, lol. Brilliantly done, Siren. I have a really good feeling about this group!

That's totally fine, and I do understand wanting to write something you don't see every day, or just keep your RP and RL separated. Honestly, New Orleans works just fine for me, but I cannot promise you MC won't make his home on a riverboat that looks like it's just been completely claimed by nature. I was debating if maybe he'd live like St Claude, a region that's been kind of left to nature since Hurricane Katrina, but I was worried that might come across as a bit disrespectful, so I'm leaning towards the riverboat idea instead.

I'm mostly done with a profile, I just need to make a few tweaks for the setting and make sure it doesn't look terrible and add a picture. I had to do it up in docs on my phone in bits of free time, as weekends are typically family time for me.

Question for my fellow writers: I'm debating what MC does with his powers. He could operate a very successful farmer's market or something similar. The idea flashed through my head that he could be one of Nola's biggest dealers in.... let's call them plant based party favors, but playing a dealer isn't really my style and I'm not sure I could pull it off well... If Dionysus was into beer, I'd suggest the two could run a wicked craft brewery, lol.

Speaking as a player, that sounds like a lot of fun! Will she dress like a shrine maiden? =P

Dragons were regarded as Kami, so I don't see why one wouldn't fit in!

I like the sound of that!

You know, once Druid is done with his character, we'll have at least four characters associated with growing things. A Harvest God, the Goddess of Spring, Dionysus with his grapes and whoever Druid has. Maybe this is the kernel for the formation of the community of former Gods in the area? The four of them living in and around New Orleans, helping one another out, at least plant wise anyways, which makes the city look inviting for other gods, because there is at least a few other immortal beings around to talk to, who would know the secrets they have to keep from mere mortals?

RipTide

That makes quite a bit of sense.. My character will not fall in that category, BUT... SirensGod, I may have a venue for your little siren in the works.  O:)
