The Sierra Carmesí Hotel

"Welcome to the Sierra Carmesí Hotel. My name is Mr. Carmesí, I'm very glad to be meeting you. You will be staying in Room 82. Your accommodation is free of charge, and complimentary dining is available. We at the Carmesí staff do hope that you will enjoy your stay here. And remember. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

A cool breeze rolls through the desert. Grains of sand are dragged, tumbling across one another under the veil of darkness. A pale light glimmers at the top of the tallest dunes. And the road stretches on, unbending and unrelenting. The car's the only thing that's moving among the dirty road. The driver masked by the night, and the passenger collapsed in tiredness. It is too late. Sin piled high, vices and guilt spilling from the soul. And each sin's price must be paid. The car pulls up sharply. The road is finally at its end. Chuckling to himself the driver kills the engine, stepping out and opening the door for his passenger. They are hauled from the car carelessly, dumped unceremoniously at the dust on the roadside. The car roars away, vanishing into the night. Another sinner lies at the foot of the Sierra Carmesí Hotel.

They wake, eventually. And stagger up those stone stairs, seeing no other routes or choices. They are greeted well, by smartly dressed staff with professional smiles. But there is a chill in the air. A loneliness. No other guests in this place, the Sierra Carmesí Hotel. A maze of corridors leads to the room while a myriad of questions flit through the arrivals mind. Where is this place. How did they get here. Why are they here. Who are the staff. But still they tread on to their room, feeling there's no other choice. And when there they take their place. Trapped in nothingness, between the life they lead and their final rest. But as the owner so calmly put it. They can check out any time they like, but they can never leave.

Overview

The Sierra Carmesí Hotel is a freeform sandbox horror group game set in a hotel between life and death. Owned by the charismatic if unnerving 'Mr. Carmesí' it preys upon those who have unsettled debts. Sins, vices and other wickedness draw the attention of the black taxi that rips souls from their voyage to an afterlife, throwing them to the dirt at the hotel front and condemning them to exist in this place. Exist and not live, for living is no longer within the realm of possibility. Once there they are allowed to find their room, though hidden from the remainder of guests. They are then judged, the full extent of their perceived failings tallied and racked up before punishments are assigned. These are doled out by the Hotel staff.

Carmesí himself rarely punishes sinners himself, but his methods of old continue to influence his proteges. A man of deep, dark sin and desire his own evil and cruelty has seeped into the minds and actions of his Hotel's staff. Most punishments are sadistic in nature, with his perverted mind infecting the hotel. In his own words a good man could not possibly be cruel enough to break the spirit of a wicked man. And so it falls to the dutiful dark hearted to punish their sinning kin. Whether Carmesí was ever a man is let to be a mystery. Some of his staff are those who were broken during their stay, who were pierced by the sickness and gave into their desires. These people now revel in the punishment and cruelty, and would rather relish evil than be set free. These are the people Carmesí is most proud of. Others appear to have been here since Carmesí was, and they are what could most easily be described as demons. Many of the fearful guests whisper that Carmesí is, in reality, Satan himself.

Players will take control of 'Guests' at the hotel and/or Hotel Staff. These guests are the recently deceased. They have committed sin, given into vices or led wicked, amoral lives. The scope of these sins is up to you. Some may have good, realistic chances of freeing themselves should they endure their sentence. Others may well be condemned for near enough eternity. Staff may be either former guests who have been warped and twisted by the Hotel and Mr. Carmesí, or else true demons. Demons possess more supernatural abilities than the ghosts do, but they are typically more single minded and focused on a purpose rather than the more creative and free ghosts.

What is the Sierra Carmesí, and how does it work?

A day in the Sierra Carmesí: For most of the so called guests their days are unmarked, drifting idly by. They are free to split time between whiling away hours in their rooms, socialising with other guests and exploring the hotel. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed despite its dark nature. Once they are past their initial judgement guests can all see each other and interact perfectly well, even if they all know all others carry some darkness. Punishments are doled out as and when the staff chose.

The Guests: Are dead humans who carry some guilt or failings. They are punished for this by the staff. The guests, being ghosts, are already dead and as such cannot die again. Their physical manifestations can collapse and fail if put under too much strain, at which point they will reform unharmed in the state they first joined the hotel, back in their rooms.

The Staff: Humans who have joined Carmesí's staff, these ghosts have a deeper connection to the Hotel. They punish the guests because they have chosen to take on the role, and so typically have a cruel or sadistic streak. Due to the sacrifice of their humanity they may have an altered, unusual or somewhat deformed appearance. As they have no humanity left to hold on to they are often capable of demonic feats such as shapeshifting, psychological or physical sensory/emotional manipulation, telekinesis and others.

The Demons: The oldest and most experienced staff, the demons were here when the hotel was constructed. Unlike the Staff they are created for a purpose. Many demons are single minded, and they tend to be even more obsessed with their duties than the Staff are. Demons are not limited by the laws of physics or reason, and can bend and twist the Hotel around themselves and others. Demons have the right to punish staff members who draw the ire of Mr. Carmesí.

Mr. Carmesí: A charismatic, intense man who could come across as alluring at first meeting. He is mysterious, rarely speaking of himself and appearing or disappearing on a whim. He is an obsessive sadist, more than capable of committing acts of incredible cruelty. Mr. Carmesí is known to stalk and grow fond of guests on occasion. His infatuation is a blessing and a curse, as while one might be protected from others they are at the mercy of what many whisper is the devil himself.

What Can I expect from this game?

  • A freeform environment open to a wide variety of scenes and ideas.
  • A horror game set in the Extreme boards that welcomes a huge variety of kinks, fetishes and characters.
  • A friendly, welcoming environment that is LGBTQ+ Positive and happy to welcome any ideas.
  • Space for nonsexual scenes as the characters attempt to cling on to something resembling a life, and their sanity.
  • A game that is fully not for the faint hearted that will allow exploration.

What can't I expect from this game?

  • The ability to play out any fetish ever. The other writers will individually set their limits and those must be respected. If nobody else is open to it, it's not possible.
  • Any real 'combat' or overarching story that revolves around stopping the Hotel. 'Winning' is remaining sane and doing your time.

Rules

  • Writing: Third person past tense, no one liners, use spellcheck, reasonable standard of English/Grammar.
  • Content: This game is not for the faint hearted. We will be using warning systems but you must accept this game will be graphic and dark in nature. Please make certain extreme, graphic and dark content in posts includes warnings for the sake of fellow writers. As this is an extreme game I will re-iterate. All scenes must abide by Elliquiy site rules at all times.
  • Respect: As with any game that heavily features non-con elements respect for other players is vital. No matter whether an IC 'no' is ignored, an OOC one never can be. If someone requests you don't do something and you ignore it, or if you ignore someone else's Offs/Nos you will be removed from the game. Read other player's O/O's and character sheets.
  • Activity: This game's going to be very laid back on expected activity. Due to its freeform, sandbox nature is it up to players to seek out scenes and interact with others. That said please do try and look for scenes, connections and interactions.
  • Drama: Don't cause it. Don't participate in it if someone else causes it. If someone brings drama to you don't retaliate or escalate. Bring any interpersonal issues either to me or, if necessary, Elliquiy staff.

Character Creation

Players may create two characters. Only one of those two may be either staff or a demon, one must be a guest. Two can be guests if you would like. Characters should be flawed humans, as this game focuses on people with vices and sins. They do not have to be over the top flaws, but they should have some.

Character images are encouraged but not enforced. Players may use images of real life actors/models as a faceclaim or realistic art. Anime images are not usable.

Demons may have multiple images of a more human, concealed form and a more monstrous form.

I will be creating sample CS's soon.

Faceclaims Taken:

GM Characters

These characters will serve as an example of what I'm looking for from a character sheet, and they will be used as NPC's to interact with.

Mr. Carmesí
Basics
Name: Mr. Carmesí
Duty: Owner of the Hotel
Physical description: Mr. Carmesí is a handsome hispanic man who is relatively tall and well built, though he usually conceals his figure beneath expensive tailor made suits. He carries himself with pride, keeping his head high at all times. He is always well groomed and immaculately dressed. Despite his great capacity for cruelty he often has a smile on his face, though it rarely reaches his dark eyes.

Personality and History

Personality: Mr. Carmesí is something of a romantic sadist. He tends to grow obsessively infatuated with particular guests and attempt to court them. Due to his highly disturbed nature he sees acts of cruelty as kindness, and being the object of his affection is often a nightmarish experience. In contrast to how evil he can be in private he is often a charming and notably polite host while he wanders his hotel. He makes a point of greeting new guests and welcoming them eagerly. Mr. Carmesí is a very proud man, and he can be quickly angered if his hotel is insulted in his presence. Most staff and guests, and even demons, are wise enough not to draw his anger.

History: Mr. Carmesí has been a presence since the first days of the hotel. How old he is, or even what is is, remains a mystery. Many guests and staff have wondered, but those who try to figure out the mysterious owner of the Sierra Carmesí rarely last long. Even demons know better than to ask too many questions of the hotelier. It would appear that his duty is to fulfil the role of a gracious host and owner, and to visit his sadistic obsessions upon guests of the Hotel. It is unknown whether his tendency to grow infatuated with beautiful women serves a purpose.

As his original workers are often referred to as demons, and as the hotel serves as a place in which sinners are punished, it is regularly theorised that Mr. Carmesí is the devil himself. If this is the truth he has given no indication. When questioned he usually reacts with amusement or derision, brushing off the comments or accusations unless they grow too demanding, in which case he will silence their misguided efforts.

The Hotel

I administer it: Sadism, Torture, Psychological Abuse, Domination, Humiliation, Obsession

My Demonhood's Gift: As Owner of the Hotel Mr. Carmesí can manipulate the entire hotel including all guests, staff and even other demons. This includes banishing any inhabitants if he needs to. There is little he cannot do within his hotel.

I refuse it: Mr. Carmesí does not submit for any reason. He does not like to be hurt by others. While he will inflict his sadistic desires on many he tends to save traditional sexual interactions for those he 'courts' in his own view.

The Taxi Driver
Basics
Name: The Taxi Driver
Duty: Deliverer of new Guests
Physical description: Despite the fact that each guest and member of staff arrived at the hotel in the taxi driver's car none seem to truly remember what he looks like. Most describe a shadowy figure who wears a long, dark cloak and a distinctive top hat. His facial features are always obscured by the dark of his dingy car.

Personality and History

Personality: An quiet, unfriendly figure it is hard to gain a measure of the taxi driver's nature. Judging by the fact he refuses to communicate at all he seems uninterested in either people or the hotel itself. As he always dumps the guests carelessly at the foot of the hotel he appears very unlikely to care for their well being or the fate he is consigning them to.

History: The taxi driver has been making his grim journey since the Hotel's inception. He is likely one of the oldest among the demons, some suggest second only to the hotel's owner. He has never once deviated from his route or his purpose. There is an idea that the taxi driver, as the entry point to this place, could serve equally as an exit. Unfortunately he is never available to be found, only briefly pulling up outside the hotel when he has a new guest to deliver.

The Hotel

I administer it: The taxi driver appears to have no duty other than ferrying in new guests.

My Demonhood's Gift: The taxi driver appears capable of causing guests or staff to feel incredibly groggy and tired, or forcing them to pass out for the duration of their journey.

I refuse it: The taxi driver does not participate in the nightmares at the hotel.

F.A.Q

How Smut-Heavy is this game? Fairly. The punishments will typically be sexual, BDSM related scenes. Half the characters will experience these and the other half will be dishing them out. That said players are free to start non-smut scenes as much as they wish to. There will be space for the various types of characters to socialise among one another, and to try and find ways to cope.

What does "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" mean? It's a line from the Eagles's song 'Hotel California', which heavily inspired this game. In this setting the meaning is altered from the original. In essence it describes the hopelessness of the fact that checking out of the Hotel would do little to truly leave, and inevitably all who are here can only truly leave by paying out their debt.

Who can I play? Hotel staff, deceased humans being penalised and held captive for their sins or demons who aid the staff in dishing out punishment.

I am not usually into horror as a genre.  But the mere possibility of being able to experience so many kinks and really explore has got me interested.  I would be glad to participate as a guest.

Totoro

Glad to see the interest so far. If anyone's got any questions feel free to go ahead.

I should note the game's primarily 'horror' because it deals with a bleak scenario for the characters, and in general what they'll be experiencing is non-consensual. Not that it'll be a game intended to be particularly scary, even if imagining being in many of the situations in reality would be a grim thought for most.

Xurtan

*pokes a head in* Hm, definitely going to watch this. Horror games are my jam, and I do love the base idea.

Intimate Ink

Totoro

Glad about all the interest. I'd rather have slightly more guests than staff ideally but I think it's most likely to pan out that way anyway. Seems like it so far.

Mature Desires

I'd love to a part of this if there is space and interest still available?

Rel Mayer

Very, very interested. Really craving horror group games and this sounds fun!

Totoro

Feeling confident about the interest presented. I'll be putting together the CS and a couple of samples and then switching to recruiting.

CS's will be nothing too crazy but one thing they will be featuring will be segments for the 'guests' to list their fears, to guide/suggest what tortures/terrors they might experience and also a segment for 'No's' so they can veto particular experiences.

“If all we have is this imagined empty canvas of endless possibility...this potential heaven...then let it be our haven. A place of marriage between two souls desperate to feel something beyond the cruel tedium of real life. If we truly be the masters who dream these dreams then let our innermost desires fuel the adventures we create and the love that we make here, let it all unfold endlessly or for only a brief moment in time but for as long as it breathes let it devour and I will forgive your boldness if you will be so good as to forgive me mine...” ~ Chantarelle

Totoro

Guest, staff and demon character sheets are all up. The game's officially recruiting. If you create a CS please PM it to me do not post it in this thread. If you have any questions feel free to PM me or ask here.

If you are hoping for players to give or receive a particular kink then feel free to mention what you're looking for here.

Armphid

I'm sorry if this is a super obvious thing that I missed but where are the sheets?  Is there an OOC or anything up yet?  Or do you want us to make our own sheets free form and PM them to you?
