There was a time when it felt as if the Empire itself was dying. Torn apart by terrible civil war, the realm of Sigmar had fallen into anarchy and chaos.

No place in these dark times suffered a worse fate then the eastern city of Mordheim. Previously the capital of Ostermark, Mordheim was devastated by a comet from the sky. After this catastrophe the city found itself abandoned by the Empire, with no aid or assistance sent to it or its people.

It was not until the discovery that the metal which the comet was made of possessed magical properties that any attention was payed to the blackened ruins.

The amazing properties of this 'wyrdstone' attracted the attention of several different factions from within, and beyond, the Empire. Each seeking to use the mystical stones to their own advantage.

Come now to those dark and terrible days. When fires burn in the tomb cold night, as bounty hunters,  ruthless mercenaries, and things far worse make their way towards ruined Mordheim. Hoping to find power, fame, and fortune in the place that has come to be known as The City of The Damned...

Ok, so this my attempt at getting a group game together using the 2nd edition Warhammer Fantasy RPG rules. The basics of the story are that it will take place on the way to/around/within the ruined city of Mordheim during the time after the comet struck the city and made it go kablooie. The plot will follow the characters as they get rich, or die trying, by searching the city for anything of value that they can claim.

Ideally I'd like to find at least four players with myself taking on the GM role. But I'd settle for three, or possibly even two! Either way, if you're interested, have any questions, have a character concept you'd like to run by me, etc. Feel free to say/ask/comment below!

OH! OH! ME! ME! PICK ME!

I want in. don't know what character to play but if I could be a Skaven that be awesome if not probably a dwarf or human. please let me know if we can play.

Urbanzorro

Glad to have your interest! For story reasons I'm leaning more towards races that would make sense being around a force of Empire mercenaries. So things like various Humans, Dwarfs, Elves, Halflings, etc are in. Where as things like obvious Chaos worshipers, Beastmen, and Skaven are going to have to remain NPCs. As a side tangent is there a book that allows/has rules for Skaven PCs?

Urbanzorro

I'll join too! ^^

I made a human character for another game that's a bit in limbo here atm, though I'm feeling I wanna try something different and roll an Elf character up random this time and see where it goes. :)

Also props on using Mordheim for a setting! I recently got the rulebook for the old skirmish mini game of the same name.

Out of interest, would the Bretonnian supplement 'Knights of the Grail' be okay to use? No worries if not, just curious. The supplement is an official release also, so I'm not trying to a special snowflake. ^^

Urbanzorro

Glad to have you, I refrained from advertising in there because I didn't want to steal the other game's thunder. I'll take a look at Bret book but provisionally I'm going to say yes. Generally I'm fine with allowing official supplements so long as they fit the story.

And yeah, Mordheim is an epicly cool setting. The tabletop game is very fun.

The Brets are fairly balanced in a mixed party anyhow, as you need to swap in the Reikland language so they can speak with the Empire characters.

I'm unsure if I'll go there (oh, also they share a lot of Empire occupations, so fewer differences if you roll a certain way), though I feel like doing something different to the human pit fighter I rolled up for the last game, which is why I mentioned Elf as another strong candidate.

I've played a bit of AoS skirmish recently, which is like an simplified version to Mordheim. Small campaign, add new models in with earned 'Renown' rather than tweak your doods stats and skills. Played a Nurgle themed Chaos warband (I play Death Guard in 40k), though got pretty decimated as my mate went Sylvaneth; the Branchwych's 'Unleash Spites' spell is broken in skirmish scale if you can't dispel it (this led to my mate allowing me to take the Nurgle Sorceror as my warband leader so I could get chances to dispel, they're not in the supplement though you just divide pts by 5 to find out how much Renown a certain model would be).

I am provisionally going to check my interest here, as WHFB is something of a guilty pleasure for me. What kind of general feeling for the campaign were you planning on going for, in terms of content?

Good question! With regards to overall tone I intend to try and stay as true to the setting as possible. With that in mind I've always felt that both Warhammer settings are at their best when they aren't played 100% straight. A little bit of humor and the ability to not take itself entirely seriously makes the setting work a lot better in my opinion. So that will be a part of the story as well.

As far as content goes there will likely be quite a bit over the top violence, genuine horror, as well as epic heroics. Additionally there will be the occasional over the top villain, a few bits of chewed scenery, and a thinly veiled culture reference every now and again.

When it comes to smut it's really up to the players and what they want their characters doing during their 'off time' in between quests. I'm not going to disallow relationships to arise between the different characters. But I also don't expect or want smut to be the focus of the story.

Hopefully that answers things for you? If you need further clarification just let me know.

That indeed answers things for me! Both halves of my implicit question too. I was curious one what kind of flavour I should be expecting, and two if I should be thinking about an awesome character, or a cute character I wouldn't mind having smutty things with.

Since it's more the former by the sounds of it, I wanna play a dwarf, because I am a huge nerd. Lemme dust off my copy of 2E and start looking through it. I am definitely interested in joining in.

I'm for sure rolling an Elf. I was almost tempted to try Bret, though there was a lot of choices of dukedoms and I thought I'd leave it for when I'm more experienced with the playstyle of WFRP, as I'm admittedly a newb to the system (though I am very knowledgeable about lore and setting).

Besides, it'll be fun to play alongside a Dwarf with them. ^^

Aside from the items listed for your career everyone starts with: Common clothing consisting of a shirt, breeches, and worn boots, a tattered cloak, a dagger tucked in a boot or belt, a sling bag or a backpack containing a blanket, a wooden tankard, a wooden cutlery set, a hand weapon (axe, club, sword, etc.) and a purse holding 2d10 Gold Crowns (gc).
