It's running so close right now I'm getting a headache and my blood pressure is going up again.

With 12% of the vote counted in Pennsylvania Clinton is ahead.

The better news is that Katie McGinty is ahead by over 20 points.

I see. Like I said, I don't really understand how the electoral voting works. So, yeah.

I do hope that Clinton takes California. That's a whopping 55 electoral votes. I didn't vote for her, but I would take her over Trump.

California is blue and will stay that way for a very long time.  I'm more worried about New Hampshire and North Carolina.

The EC doesn't get used the way that it is meant to be used in any state but Maine. It was, originally meant as a means of breaking up the power of the big states and to give the smaller, less populous states a more equal footing in national elections. If you look at Maine, it has four electoral votes, each voter is assigned an electoral district and then votes the way their district falls. This means that Maines electoral votes can actually be split, it's not a winner take all system. The big states got around the intention behind the EC by making their contests winner take all in order to still consolidate most of their voting power.

Are they swing states?

(I'm sorry, guys. I'm so new when it comes to voting and elections. This was my first year voting, and I never really paid attention to things like this before.)

NC is a swing state. If Clinton wins either NC or Florida she should have the election in the bag in most likely scenarios.

What gives me pause right now is that Michigan seems so close right now. That was supposed to turn out blue, but right now some call it too close to call. If MI is actually in play I have no idea what the electoral map looks like.

Gotcha.

If you're near a TV, you can put on MSNBC. They're constantly showing their map of votes.

I've never been more frightened in my life

I can relate. As a young woman, I'm nervous about a lot of things if Trump wins.

Being from MI, it makes me ill how damned close to call we're looking at the moment.

Urrgh. I am watching the NBC life stream on Youtube right now, and a couple of minutes ago they interviewed a Trump-voting woman from PA, and she excused his pussy-grabbing talk by saying that women talk worse things about men all the time. Seriously?! Whiskey Tango Foxtrott?!  ::)

Oh god I feel like im going to have a freakout. I would take Bush again, bill Clinton, anything but Trump.

Beguile's Mistress

Interesting comment from Michael Moore was that if Trump wins his supporters will be disappointed because he is going to blow up the system and has no idea how to rebuild it.  He's a dinosaur who has no idea how to do things in today's world and economy.  He's a con artist who has not told them the truth and is not going to bring their jobs back.

persephone325

Trump got Ohio.

He's up 168 to 109.

EDIT: Clinton has Virginia.

Now 122 to 168. Still in favor of Trump.

538 is now giving Trump a 55% chance of winning the electoral college.

Ohio was always likely to turn red. It's other states you should watch. MI and WI were supposed to turn out blue in a Clinton win. If they both turn red, Clinton needs NC and FL both (which doesn't look all that likely right now). If she wins 2 out of WI, MI, NC, and FL, she should make it, but if she loses 3 of those 4 I would start to pray and/or ask for political asylum in Canada.

Ugh, my state went for Trump, but I should have expected that. Oklahoma's been red for ages. :/

At least I can comfort myself that the state seems to have voted no on Question 790.

My friend is feeling the same way. She's a registered Native American, Pansexual - and living in Oklahoma. She's not happy.

I don't like this. I don't like either of the candidates, but I would rather Clinton win because she has the knowledge and background to make good decisions for us. I don't think Trump has ever had to make some of the tough decisions that come with a political office. Yes, he's owned businesses, but that's completely different than carrying the weight of an entire country on your shoulders.

It briefly flashed up as breaking news that Trump won Virginia before they corrected it, talk about a heart stopper!!
