I mean if cannibalism is on the table there's meat in there too.

Question is, do they taste like raspberry gummy bears?

It's official, our demonfolk are some of the worst around. : p

I just came to the realization that our party is such a mix of chaos and problems that I'm shocked we're all that's gonna pass for heroic forces in here. In a messed up way, it almost makes me think of the original Drakengard...

Except Randall, dude might hopefully balance all of our madness. Hopefully. >.>

Raven Rawne

I need to prepare the lawful good paladin memes just for him. But yeah, it's weird we have like, almost only "evil" characters. Fight fire with fire?

I honestly thought we were going for Drakengard vibes, to be honest.

Imo, I see it less like evil and more that we have a heavy emphasis on Chaos, in usual Shin Megami Tensei notions.

I do enjoy the theme of fighting fire with fire, and our our enemies aren't just gonna be fighting the usual 'Save the Day Superhero' types, but people who are either optimistics laying their lives on the line to change their world for the better, or weary types who have dealt with enough crap that they're not gonna sit around and keep taking the lumps.

And the inbetweeners, wherever they fall. =p But yeah, this is also the kind of group I don't expect everything to go smoothly with, but it won't be a bad thing. : ) Everyone will grow from it in their own way, and then maybe this ragtag group can do the impossible.

Would it shock you if I said I hadn't thought about it until after I saw how skewed the group's collective moral compass is? xD

On that note, while I dare not get my hopes up this early, one or two others have been sussing out character concepts, so I'm curious what they'll add to our already-volatile mix. :3

JoanieSappho

Alethina's not evil, she just wants to drink, fuck and make women horny.
And maybe bite the meat off a few people, but only bad ones or clones.

Raven Rawne

And Ren is just such a good demon! The type to take you home for dinner... Thank goodness she's already horny so she will be safe from Allethina, haha

Rafael

Raven Rawne

We have mostly casters it seems, and most of the characters are Malusites, so leaning more on the "evil" side. You could consider balancing out some, if you wish. Or lean more into the already established balance.

Hexed

Add to the baddies!

Hell I'm on family vacation and Guard's got me working on an Oni to offer up.
pic

Malusite Caster that can fight melee but is more interested in exploring this magic concept.

Raven Rawne

Spoiler is empty. But, yeah, all character races are allowed so, pick what you like the most for this scenario.

Steir

Personally I have no idea of what Drakengard is like so I figured might as well make a good boy type of character and see where it takes me. :3c

bah. Pic didn't work huh? Not fun. Don't have my image sites setup on travel comp so will just link the gelbooru page. Hopefully that'll work. If not once home sunday will fix.

Oni

Gardsorm

I can't even sleep in peace without people throwing me under the bus! T_T

But yeah, Hexed one of those working on a char. : p Also glad to see someone new being tempted, so welcome Rafael! : )

Silim

I'd like to throw my interest-hat into the ring, if that's still possible!

Gardsorm

Hey, Silim! Been a hot minute since we last spoke! :3 You know I'm not gonna say no to someone who hung with me through some of the crazy games we went through before E. : p

Raven Rawne

Seems like a Big Group in the making, with more people peeking with interest. I wonder what kind of characters will result from this interest.

Man, I thought you were being dramatic for a second, but it HAS really been a hot minute... Time sure flies, eh? Glad to see you're still going strong here on E, tho. I had a bit of a break myself from the site and from most writing.

On to the game, is there a way to make a Force weapon for an "unarmed" sort of character work? I was thinking either that, or a cane/rod that's actually best applied in melee and with supportive/tricksy moves rather than the spellcasting one might expect.

Raven Rawne

You might give them a ring, should you prefer to keep their hands free. Just a quick idea. I pondered a smoking pipe for mine.

As much as I want to go BG off the bat, I want to earn BG status, so I plan to try to go for 250 posts normally to earn the forum!

Not a problem, dood! I know sometimes a break is important to take her and there on the forum, and I even have moments of taking short breaks!

As far as unarmed goes, Raven Rawne offers a possibility certainly. A Bangle can also work likewise, but if you prefer to have a weapon in hand, I would suggest a Cane or Scepter! Small, short, but also variable in function to throttle your enemies with handily without being cumbersome, imo. : )

Hexed

Cane could even let you do a gentleman setup with his unbreakable walking cane. :D

Bracers that allow you to enhance blows. Go full in DMC style with gauntlets/greaves

Silim

Going to put up a WIP.

Name: Viltreyse Avomarak - Usually simply goes by "Vil"
Age: 57
Species: Dark Elf
Racial Ability: Shade-Born - Dark Elves can naturally fade into barely-discernible shadows in dark conditions
Gender: Male
Description: Viltreyse is a short, lithe man, standing at 5'5" - which makes him above average for his people, really. Like almost all dark elves, his complexion can be mistaken for simply slightly tanned skin under dark conditions, but light reveals that he actually has a slight grey tint to his pigmentation that isn't naturally possible for ordinary elves. Additionally, his red eyes and stark white hair, which extends in wild bangs and streaks into nearly every direction, are further signals of his heritage, as are two black markings extending from the outer edges of his eyes. His cocky smirk barely, if ever, leaves his face. He also wears a silver stud and loop earring on each side. His clothing is always surprisingly practical and form-fitting, sometimes showing parts of his trained physique quite well, but his outfits are also always made to easily blend into the environment and make hiding even easier.
Extra: Viltreyse wears a small amulet underneath his clothes. It's in the shape of a minor, nearly-forgotten god of time.

Personality and History: The dark elves are an elusive, reclusive and mysterious sub-species of elvenkind. Naturally attuned to shadows and the darkness, their homes and enclaves are hidden within the darkest, most treacherous deep forests of Livio. Outsiders are rarely welcome anywhere close to their settlements, and Viltreyse is from an even more secretive bunch than most, for he is one of the scions of a dark elven supremacist group - ones that believe their talents of assassination, spy-work and shade magic elevates them above all else.

Needless to say, Vil turning out to be a little disrespectful shit started getting on their minds pretty damn quickly. An enigma for his people to begin with, having a naturally happier and cheerful disposition, he also turned out to be annoyingly good at most things he was taught - so much so that his teachers couldn't argue for getting rid of him. But it really was just most things - any attempt at teaching him magic backfired horribly, to the point of frustrating his teachers even more than his attitude ever could. So he was instead schooled even more harshly in spy work, assassination and stealth. To finally get his attitude under control, he was sent on a mission to eliminate a troublesome human merchant in a nearby less xenophobic dark elven community, the assumption being that a murder at the ripe old age of fifteen had ways of making people hardened.

Instead, the moment Vil had the human cowering on the floor before him, that damnable conscience he had flared up and stilled his blade. Instead, he informed the man precisely about who wanted him dead - and in exchange, the very surprised but very glad-to-be-alive man immediately set a plan in motion to get the hell out of the darker woods, Vil tagging along as a new bodyguard. After all, his old clan would want both of them dead now. With that flight from his people, Viltreyse also unknowingly began a cycle that'd continue for a long, long time in his life.

His new human friend turned out to be more than just a humble merchant - he was a smuggler of decent skill and with good connections throughout the lands. Learning the ways of the underworld from him, the young dark elf easily took to his new life as a thief and informant, spending many fruitful years working with the syndicate he and his teacher built. However, his teacher grew greedier and greedier with the years, eventually trying to tie their syndicate into illegal slave trades and the trafficing of sentient beings.

Viltreyse dropped a massive stack of incriminating evidence right on the desk of the guard captain of the city they were staying in that very same night, not being seen by anyone until he had long since left town and his former friend was clasped in irons for his many, many crimes and worse planned crimes. All while carrying a suspiciously full sack of small gems and coins on his belt, taking his unfair share of the work they had done together.

And so began the legend of the thief that everyone hates, yet everyone knows. Be it for kings and queens, nobles and highborn, his lowborn compatriots, or other criminals - Viltreyse would work for anyone, given enough incentive. But the moment a job crossed his own lines, he'd happily and with a smile betray those that considered him a confidant or even friend, disappearing into the dark. He became involved briefly with a few projects to help the first refugees thirty years ago, already an established and accomplished thief by the time - using his ill-gotten gains to help settle in those that didn't wish harm on the inabitants of Nexus, all anonymously, of course. He made sure to funnel his funds through the relief efforts of one of the smaller churches in the land, leading to him gaining a honorary title in their clergy - a fact he found hilarious at first.

However, in the years to follow, Viltreyse would find that he identified quite a bit with some of the teachings of this nearly-forgotten minor god of fate and time. Now that the world is blanketed in darkness and he holds a shard of godly power in his soul and hands, Vil fully intends to twist causality and fate to save the world. He'll steal victory right out from under the demon gods, and twist fate towards a new dawn.

On word describes Viltreyse: Defiant. Of fate, of hopelessness, and of the darkness that lives in everyone's heart. While certainly a thief that enjoys the finer things in life, he's not indulgent in luxury or cruel to the poor - in fact, he often shares his ill-gotten gains with those that society forgets or turns a blind eye towards. His strong moral compass makes him distateful of any sort of killing unless absolutely necessary. Further, freedom and autonomy are his highest values, leading him to target exploitative individuals for his heists - the worse their deeds, the worse off Vil will leave them. He doesn't consider himself to be some "hero of justice" or anything remotely as grand - but simply a thief that knows how he wants the world to be, and who stubbornly refuses to let cruelty stand. He's also a big fan of ironic punishments and tricks, and his flair for the dramatic is legendary - once, it rained pamphlets detailing a corrupt mayor's crimes out over the while city, during a festival.

He also rather graciously accepts the massive amounts of trouble all of his actions leave him in, constantly. Otherwise he might've gone insane a long time ago.

Advantages and Weaknesses:
+Dark Elven Physiology - As a dark elf, Viltreyse is nible and fast beyond a human, with sharper senses to boot - his eyes can see the infrared spectrum, giving him vision that works even in pitch-black environments, and his ears are more sensitive as well. However, in exchange, his constitution and durability are lacking compared to other humanoids, with his training not able to compensate for it.
+Underworld Connections - As a former thief and spy, Viltreyse knows many prominent figures in the underworlds of Nexus. Not that they necessarily enjoy his company, seeing as there's virtually no-one in those circles he hasn't screwed over for one reason or another.
+Flickering Shadow - Viltreyse has been trained as both a thief and assassin, and his speed is nearly unmatched in Nexus.
-Magically Inept - Many Dark Elves are powerful mages capable of striking unseen from the shadows. He is not one of those. Viltreyse is completely incapable of using anything magical not connected to his blessing and Force Weapon, be it an artifact, magic wand or scroll. It's a miracle that he isn't also somehow allergic to potions, although one should never leave him alone with a brewing station. Fires will be the most benign result.
-The Friend Nobody Likes - Authority figures hate thieves and spies. The underworld hates people with standards and a conscience. So when someone like Viltreyse comes along that is a thief and spy with a strong sense of his own justice and morals, there's usually nobody left in the room that doesn't have a reason to want him dead. Vil has a reputation for eventually screwing everyone over for one reason or another, and its a reputation he can't ever seem to shake.
-Complexity Addiction - Why do anything the simple way when you can do it the fancy, elaborate and overly dramatic way, complete with dramatic cloak flips and sliding down the stair's railings?

Force Weapon: Time's End doesn't look like much as a weapon. Resembling a walking cane seemingly made of tarnished brass and silver, the top grip is a large, hollow ring, while the top of the cane right under the ordinary grip is textured in what appears to be a decorative if worn way that resembles silver rings - yet these serve as a convenient grip if the cane is wielded more like a dull sword. Similar adornments of tarnished, dull gold adorn the very bottom of the cane, allowing the cane to be wielded 'upside down' to strike with the heavier ring head on the other side, with a trade-off of stability.
Abilities:
Physical: Clockhand Strikes Twice - A simple Force enhancement for any ordinary strike with the weapon, be it against a foe, obstacle or against an incoming attack. At this basic stage, the ability is deceptively simple yet powerful - each enhanced strike hits like two simultaneous strikes at the exact same time, to the exact same spot. Even a light blow can have surprising power through this, and a full-powered swing can carry incredible yet simple power.
Magic: N/A
Support: Eternal Moment - For a brief moment, Viltreyse can slow down time - so much that it seems to stop for one eternal moment. His own speed is unimpeded, allowing for impossible mobility and reactions, but stretching the eternal moment for even just a full second is incredibly taxing.
Chronal Shift - By utilizing the uncertainty of time, Vil 'blinks' to any position he can perceive that he could realistically reach in a normal way. Up a wall, through a window that can be opened, or behind a foe are all possible, but entirely impossible movement isn't - Chronal Shift cannot pass through solid barriers that couldn't be easily overcome.
Double Time - A deceptively simple enhancement that can be placed on an ally or the wielder of Time's End, this application of Force twists time around the recipient and doubles their speed in every regard.

Gardsorm

Oh my god, I want to throw my guy Grave into subterfuge and espionage scenes with him and just watch them go fukken sideways thanks to Vil's history. xD

EDIT: I'm trying to work on putting together a Discord server for this. Since most people I know in this area on it, it might be easier to keep everything interaction and discussion related there while the game plays out here. Once it's in a workable state, I'll PM the link to those who are signed up. : )
