I'm wondering when and how she joined the group - and has it been decided how long everyone's been together? (sorry, still catching up on the OOC messages)

Edit: So just off the top of my head Katya could have some past ties / maybe antagonistic run-ins with one of the veteran group members and after an encounter on a recent job she fell in with them, or was recommended. Alternatively if someone medically inclined was the good doc who put her back in one piece, that works also.

That's the phase we're working on right now - trying to figure out exactly who knows who at the outset, who's brand new, etc.

We need a couple more founding members, actually! Right now, it's just Vane for sure who's involved with the founding. Seems to me like it would be appropriate to have a couple more, if you're interested.

Sure, Katya could be in the original roster along with Vane (if Primarch is game)! She's a bit predisposed to making sure other people don't end up like her so keeping an eye on the younger Edgerunners makes sense.

Garth is the oldest of them all and I feel like he could potentially be a common thread for peeps joining the crew before he himself joins. Like past history with Vane and when Vane's asking around to drum up a crew for the first time, Garth might have some names for him to vet. That sort of thing.

Hmm another Militech cog. Very likely Elenor would know Anders and vice versa at least if he founds out their former identity.

Unfortunately not that likely, maybe she'd know a little bit of the early parts of the project Anders took part of, but she's been out of Militech for years, probably around the last four. So worked in Militech from early 20s to 33, managed to sneak across the pacific, two years spent with extensive bodymodding someplace Militech has less influence, likely Japan since Arisaka would be a more dominant company there. And then went back. So basically last four years she's been out of the company. So assuming this takes place in 2077, been out of Militech since 2073, when Anders was 17.

She ultimately turned to edgerunning out of caution. Getting a proper job would require too much documentation, documentation that she only has fakes of, her identity is something held very close to her chest, and unlikely to surface unless deliberately set up. After bankrupting herself to disappear and being unable to take another corpo-job for obvious reasons, not a lot of desire to prance around the streets shouting the truth.

Ah, right. So this is something I've been pondering for a while. The game's definitely meant to be more Edgerunners-inspired than Cyberpunk 2077-inspired, so as far as what's happened and what hasn't, what year it is, etc...

My official decision, here, is that the events of Edgerunners have occurred, but the events of 2077 haven't and aren't going to. Bit of an alternate timeline sorta deal - I don't want anyone to feel like they need to go research the events of the game in order to be up to speed, or anything. I'm still partway through it, as well, so I'm not sure I'd be able to do a post-2077 continuation real justice.

That leaves us with a lot of tantalizing possibilities should we ever decide to go Nova.

I think Edgerunners happened between six months to two years before 2077. So that'll be a good time line.

And I left how long Anders has been gone from militech kinda vague so could still work. And like I said before if we need another founding member Anders can be aged up to around Vane's age easily.

Vane seems to be the common thread here, so I would for sure peg him as a founding member. I reached out about Katya getting brought in early on (former antagonist to the group, then post retrofit she reached out to hunt Maelstrom). Plus a netrunner/techie and Gepetto and/or Garth, that would make a solid start presuming they've been running together for a few years at least to build rapport.

Depending on what the latest job and story beat is, younger members would be picked up over time as the job requirements changed - with Leif being the most recent I think? - but I imagine we all still have to work out connections to each other more thoroughly in order to establish a timeline.

I think specifically, Garth could have been there from the beginning as an associate, a "sixth-ranger" of sorts before he fully joins. If Katya's brought in as a former antagonist, Garth would most likely have crossed paths with her while working alongside Vane.

Yep, having a timeline would be useful, at least a vague history describing who joined in what order. I could see Eleanor coming in early, but probably not founding. Could see her as having been roped in by a fixer for a request that called for a proper, full-time netrunner rather than someone who just "kind of" knew what they were doing, and that she ended up sticking around after that.

It's not a no - go ahead and make either idea you mentioned. Though keep in mind a Fixer or Exec would likely have a fairly different relationship to the team than any of the other roles would. More like a secondary, independent party the team works with, rather than a full-fledged member.
