Another dot of Etiquette sounds good to me.   I mean, when anyone thinks of etiquette and hospitality, of course Tzimisce is the clan that comes to mind as the most sociable and welcoming to guests....No snickering in the background!  And yeah, Dymitri is newly arrived in the city.  A month sounds about right, since that's enough time for him to settle in somewhat before getting too involved in Camarilla society.

I didn't realize at the time that the University was under the Tremere's domain...which makes for some interesting fodder potentially happening as well.  I'm sure the Tzimisce and Tremere of the city will only ever have civil, cordial intellectual debates.  >.>

My conservative, camarilla supporting Tremere will definitely have many rational arguments for the Tzimisce in our midst.

Re: Points - yes there was a reason for that, sorry! I see in VtM Revised that blush of life from blood spending is essentially free for humanity 8+ characters. Would Sarah having that ability just constantly active be too cheesy and would you rather I spent that 2 points on blush of life merit? If not I will likely take your advice!

Re: Ajax - awesome yes please do. I was picturing as something that the Ventrue use to funnel their people in Sarah's situation through, so the local Primogen doesn't get involved day to day but it definitely can be a great location for dealings and activities out of the public eye, especially with a motivated character like Sarah running the place.

Re: Time and Knowledge - I think it makes sense for Sarah to not be brand new, maybe a half a year or so, depending on what month the game starts she either hasn't experienced the dead of winter or the midsummer so she still has new things to look forward to but she isn't fresh off the tanker and has made waves with the local community with her outreach and attempts at getting people to work together and such. I would imagine due to that pretty much everyone who doesn't make an concentrated effort not to know the newbies knows who she is.

I don't mind it being constantly active provided she stays at 8 or higher Humanity. It would go away if she drops, but if you're okay with that, then don't buy Blush of Health. If you're worried you might drop below and feel strongly about this character element, I would let you hold the two Freebies in reserve to "buy" the Blush back later.

So perhaps she arrived in summer, holed up in Ajax Oil in that haven with Toya's permission to reside in Anchorage, and because of the business and her outlook, managed to make a splash even in the summer, which has probably turned more than a few heads at anyone being brave enough to do any form of outreach during the deadly season!

@Rummy Tum Tum for this sheet!! Attributes look right. Abilities look good! Backgrounds...given what you spent, you are short 1 dot somewhere. Honestly? I recommend putting it into Fame if you really want to amp up the name-recognition for your guy. (I'm not gonna lie...I've never had anyone do 5 Fame before and I am super interested in messing about with that in a Masquerade-heavy domain. <_<). Virtues look great. Freebies...you are missing a point. Recommendation: Take one more Willpower. And I have the same question for you as I do for Red: How long do you think he'll have been in Anchorage? Your background write-up makes me think this might be his first few nights there, which I admit I find pretty intriguing. Wonderful sheet! :)

Oooh if you're giving me the option I'll hold them in reserve. I'm a bit torn on whether it would be a cool and dark moment for her to get all cold and dead for the first time if her humanity fades vs. whether that's an essential part of her character. So I think I'll hold off until I get a better sense of things. Thanks for giving me that option! :)

@PixelatedPixie for this sheet! OOOO them Attributes. They look right, but oh wow! Appearance 5! That'll have a big impact in how she's perceived by NPCs!  Attributes check out! Backgrounds, Disciplines, and Virtues all look good. Because your vamp has no Retainer or Herd, your character likely will need to reside at one of the Studios provided by Toya in order to survive for a while, but that's okay and makes for fun plot! Freebies look good. I like the idea that there was a dust-up between two clans regarding her Embrace and that the complexity of her behavior got her sent away. Very interesting--and she seems like she might shake things up a little in Anchorage, too! Same question as for Red and Rummy--how long do you imagine she's been around Anchorage? You can conceivably have been there a few years, maximum, and still be seen as "newly banished." Anyways, really enjoyed your sheet!

I may revisit my character and do a Follower of Set from the Norwegian branch (a childe of Arnulf Jörmungandrsson or one of his children) which is mentioned in the Setite Clanbook if that is okay.  Probably a vaguely similar concept, but switching from Brujah to Followers of Set.

You can use Freebies to buy secondary Paths if you like. It's a little expensive at chargen (7 pts a dot), but it's an option! (It's almost worth it to wait to get in-game experience after the game begins, as secondary paths are arguably cheaper to buy that way early on)

The University is Vega's domain, but he is more than happy to share it with other Tremere (though he is hostile to non-Tremere poaching in that specific University). He feels that academia as a sphere of influence means very little if he doesn't welcome his fellow Warlocks into it with him. :)

Excellent. Time to bring the sorority life to Anchorage! In all seriousness, though, university life and culture is an important part of this character. Would it be appropriate to start with one dot of Influence that represents sway in academic circles? Or would that be more appropriate as Allies?

Yay! I will probably be putting most of my points into Abilities and Backgrounds, so yours can be the senior thaumaturge, I think.

MC will be arriving in town that night with the shirt on his back and a full Path of Blood completed - He'll be looking to establish himself somewhere senior in the local Tremere pyramid (probably right at the top, kicking Vega all the way down as he takes the spot).

Perhaps we can do a bit of a Mentor/Student thing? My character doesn't know the city or have any contacts/resources - Vega isn't spending much time teaching people beyond his two childer. Seems like quid pro quo is in order. (And a sorority girl looking after a scary vampire from the 1700s does sound like peak fun.)

History

Henri was born in 1760 in the French colony of Saint-Domingue (modern-day Haiti) to a free woman of colour and a recently arrived French Officer whom she married for his political clout. His father certainly loved Henri's mother Elyna, and she, the brains of the family, at least loved her children. Henri was educated in Paris in the during the mid 1770s provided with the best school his plantation owning family could buy. His days in Paris were spent in the absolutist study circles of Louis XV, the last good King of France, and the idea of the beloved Le Roi Soleil cast a long shadow over all education Henri received. He was brought up to believe in the wise Philosopher-Prince, with justice and order delivered from on high.  Enlightened government came from authority, and those who were trained from birth to rule (little did he know how well this would prepare him for Kindred society). He was little impressed by the American Revolution and his fellow Frenchmen who went to serve in it, which appeared to him as squabble between a rabble of upstart slave owners and a mad king across the English channel, both bleating about rights they didn't believe in.

He returned to the Saint-Domingue in 1781 and served as a doctors assistant to Maxime Moulin, the man who would eventually become his sire. He did not know at first why he met to perform his experimental surgeries only at night, but slowly he was brought into the small circle of kindred that lived in Port-Au-Prince, first as a beloved and trusted servant of his master. Henri would attend to his business in the day, and was known for being eminently reliable. As a doctor in the brutal plantation economy of Saint-Domingue he saw plenty of things that would shake his humanity to its core long before he would even be embraced. The kindred on the island lived a life of ease, feeding from the enslaved populations and profiting from their labour were a perfectly normal part of the economy there, and Maxime was a particularly cruel master who would experiment on individuals to attempt to unlock the mysteries of the blood. Henri was a deeply religious catholic but as he travelled from plantation to plantation, providing rudimentary care to the enslaved peoples, he learnt about their traditions, and the fusion of Catholicism and African traditions that had developed into Voodoo rituals.

He would be embraced in the anarchy of the 1799 uprising by his sire for services rendered protecting him and the other kindred from harm. All around him was revolutionary fervour as the white land owning population of the island sought to enact their own American Revolution to be free of French taxation, the free people of colour sought their own French revolution where they would be equal to the white population but would keep their slaves, and the slave population just wished to be free and rid of all masters. Henri's natural sympathies were with the final group, and with the basics of blood magic learnt from his sire he would end up leading a slave rebellion. His band of men would clash with his own sire in 1801 as the once united kindred community of the island split into endless factional warring on the same lines the humans did, and there he would end up killing Maxime. The violence of the uprising over five years turned him from a hopeful young kindred to someone who was brutal and cynical as the cycles of violence became increasingly for their own sake without a larger goal at heart.

Saint-Domingue wasn't truly safe for any kindred, and so like many others by 1804 Henri had taken the shortest boat trip he could and fled the island, first to Jamaica, and then to New Orleans. He wasn't the only kindred émigré to arrive there from Saint-Domingue in those turbulent years, and the Prince offered a rare amnesty for the crimes committed on the island as long as those who landed defended the Camarilla. After half a decade of civil war, Henri was more than happy to take that bargain for stability, even if the taint of sire-murder never truly left him, and he was viewed with suspicion for decades.

He settled into New Orleans Kindred society slowly, climbing the ranks of the Tremere pyramid. He focussed his research on unlocking the potential of the blood, but not through the crude 'scientific' experiments of his sire but by combining the spiritual and folk knowledge he had learnt in Saint-Domingue with the lessons he received from his brother Tremere in the city. As he became a more trusted fixture of Tremere society he was given more responsibilities by both the Prince and Tremere Primogen, and he ended up in the role of reliable heavy for the clan and the system. For a short man he could cut an intimidating figure. It only took him publicly boiling the blood of a few Kindred from the inside out before they understood why the Camarilla (and by extension himself) was a force to be respected in the city. In the 1860s he would support the occupying Union army and would spend the 1870s sympathetic to the Radical Republicans, seeing them as the only rational administration, but by this point he had accepted that these concerns were for the humans to deal with, not kindred. He lost ever more interest in human society as his focus became his research and the internal politics of court life in the city, in which he remained a strict absolutist in favour of rational, Camarilla led rule.

It was 1922 when he first fell in love seriously. A bright young man, Andre, of the church who he had a whirlwind romance with and embraced in the summer of 1925. They would be close for several decades. until a drifting away became a final rupture. They both remained in the city, and everyone knew the emotions Henri still had for his Childe. Andre slowly fell under the influence of more and more radical sects of Sabbat. A modern man, Andre was never happy with the rigid confines of either kindred life or the Camarilla, and would end up hating the man who embraced him.

The summer of 2020 a Sabbat uprising rocked the city of New Orleans. It was a close run thing and several elders were killed, and the Prince seriously injured. Andre was one the leaders of the uprising, and for that he was staked out in the sun along with all the others involved and anyone even tangentially associated with him. Henri was spared because of his unwavering loyalty to the Camarilla faction, actively fighting off several Sabbat attempts on the Prince's life. For the crime of his association with Andre, he would be allowed to go into exile, an act of lenient clemency from the Prince for the centuries they had spent together.

Voluntarily staked through the heart and boxed up for the trip to New Orleans, he was delivered to Toya's court in a casket with nothing but the clothes on his back. There was little engagement from the Tremere this far North with the national pyramid, unlike the highly active groups in the South. Fine thought Henri. If he was going to be shipped off into exile, he would make sure he ended up as the clan head in this new court. Things would finally be done his way.

His lust on the other hand is far easier to win over, and Henri has a soft spot for the flesh. He is indifferent to gender when it comes to sexual partners. Instead he seeks the thrill of sadism, and the worship of a submissive partner. Finding a kindred to worship him is the ultimate fulfilment of these urges.

Fame: Sandalwood has a little bit of online fame for her YouTube tutorials on candle-making, fashion and cosmetics.
Generation: Sandalwood has only been Kindred for ten years, but her sire was the Regent of Kent Chantry, a Kindred of substantial age and blood.
Herd, Influence, Retainers: Sandalwood arrived in Anchorage during the most recent summer. She stayed in a Studio for just a few nights before Magister Vega helped her secure student accomodation that was (relatively) luxurious, secure and isolated from the sun. A few nights after that, she had identified and ghouled her new roommate, a sophomore as brilliant as she was horny, who has brought a never-ending stream of suitors to their room for Sandalwood's dining pleasure. In the short summer nights, she has been maneuvering carefully to establish a foothold in the university's student life and staff circles.
Resources: Sandalwood's wealthy industrialist parents have bestowed upon her a sizeable trust fund.
Status: For all that Sandalwood's time in Kent was not especially successful, she is an established neonate in the Camarilla, with no real marks of shame against her name - at least, nothing that her sire's stature doesn't balance out.

Eleanor Sanderson could have done almost anything she wanted with her life. Blessed with a keen mind, a strong will, good looks and rich parents, the world was her oyster, offering her opportunities that others would have killed for. With so many options, enrolling in a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Kent State University might have been seen as settling for an easy path. But fashion was Eleanor's passion, and she threw herself into her studies with fervour.

Many staff took note of her drive and intellect, but none more than long-tenured chemistry professor Nathan Brinker, who scooped her up after graduation for a unique internship opportunity - five years as a ghoul in the chantry of which he was Regent, and then the Embrace. It was in her time as a ghoul that she earned the nickname "Sandalwood", for her obsession with scented candles, which actually turned out to be a blessing in a clan that spends so much on candles.

Sandalwood has studied diligently as all Tremere must, and progressed her understanding of Thaumaturgy as well as her other disciplines and the lore of the mundane and magical worlds that stand any thaumaturge in good stead. After ten years as an apprentice, she has reached the fourth circle of mysteries, and further study is sure to push her to higher circles.

Instead, it has been Sandalwood's social ambitions within the Camarilla that has caused problems for her sire. She had enjoyed pre-eminent social status as a mortal, always the centre of attention in her circles of friends, but the ancient stagnation of the Kent court was a social arena for which she was woefully unprepared. At first her missteps and overreach was endearing and easily brushed aside, but when she tried to square off against Kent's Grand Harpy over the decor of the upcoming court, Regent Brinker knew that it was time to send his childe somewhere else. Somewhere she could continue her studies, and keep developing her social skills - which were good, but not good enough for her current court. Somewhere he could talk the Grand Harpy into seeing as a punishment. Somewhere... like Anchorage.

MC will be arriving in town that night with the shirt on his back and a full Path of Blood completed - He'll be looking to establish himself somewhere senior in the local Tremere pyramid (probably right at the top, kicking Vega all the way down as he takes the spot).

Perhaps we can do a bit of a Mentor/Student thing? My character doesn't know the city or have any contacts/resources - Vega isn't spending much time teaching people beyond his two childer. Seems like quid pro quo is in order. (And a sorority girl looking after a scary vampire from the 1700s does sound like peak fun.)

Abilities are off--you cannot have anything above 3 unless you spent Freebies for the 4th dot or over--specifically Talents and Knowledges need to be tinkered with. Though if you are open to it, as a reflection of Henri's age, I would be willing to waive that if you are willing to accept that his skills are not diversified--meaning he might run into a wall here or there with basic stuff he just cannot do well. ^^;

Backgrounds, Disciplines, and Virtues look good. Be aware without any Retainers or Herd, your character will struggle greatly to feed and replenish blood points without Masquerade violation risks, as Anchorage is not a populous city...so vampires can't easily feed without being noticed! It's okay that you don't have those Backgrounds, just be aware your PC will need to hunt more than others and has a much higher risk involved with it. If you're okay with that, I am too, because there's great dramatic potential! Merits/Flaws/Freebies look good. (Also OOOO I love some of your Flaws. I will absolutely be preying on drawing on those for your character!). I love the backstory too; it's so tragic yet full of determination! I may revisit my character and do a Follower of Set from the Norwegian branch (a childe of Arnulf Jörmungandrsson or one of his children) which is mentioned in the Setite Clanbook if that is okay.  Probably a vaguely similar concept, but switching from Brujah to Followers of Set.

Excellent. Time to bring the sorority life to Anchorage! In all seriousness, though, university life and culture is an important part of this character. Would it be appropriate to start with one dot of Influence that represents sway in academic circles? Or would that be more appropriate as Allies?

The Primogen will have plenty of occult knowledge and a thriving occult library, so new rituals will be available. :)

Oooh if you're giving me the option I'll hold them in reserve. I'm a bit torn on whether it would be a cool and dark moment for her to get all cold and dead for the first time if her humanity fades vs. whether that's an essential part of her character. So I think I'll hold off until I get a better sense of things. Thanks for giving me that option! :)

Thanks, I didn't know that! In that case if you're happy I'm happy leaving them as is. I've tried to reflect his age by making him have zero skills in any modern technology. (He can't drive a car or use a computer). He has a vague idea how they work in theory. But he's live a privileged life at the high end of the camarilla for the last 100 years so just had someone to do all that stuff for him.

No problem that's exactly what I was looking for! I want his big weakness to be that he doesn't have anything in the city and will have to try to make it without all the advantages he's had over the past century. I even considered buying a point of Herd rather than Status to make my life easier and then decided against it - who wants to take away dramatic tension and difficulty in a Vampire game!

He'll probably start of highly reliant on hunting in Tiger's Blood, or on the Kines at the Studio/Toya sends his way (who are no doubt spies), which will tie him immediately into the new Camarilla network. Favours go a long way in Kindred society after all. I already have a great pre-scene of him waking up in anchorage for the first time after being transported for months in my head. I really can't wait!

Love a bit of tragic backstory. I particularly find how "humanity" on a character sheet interacts with historic characters interesting. I've not gone any lower the humanity 5 (I don't think it's even possible in character gen), but what does "Humanity" as a concept really mean if you grow up in a world where 90% of the population are enslaved. You have to wonder what the humanity rating of some famous public slave owners would have been .

I've provisionally made Jordan a Follower of Set but could easily adjust her to a Ventrue if that works for the setting better.

I think I've saved 5pts in reserve for the moment and was unsure if she'd need something like the provisional member flaw if she remains a Setite. I thought about giving her a connection to Mr. Hyde or the Prince (maybe via her sire) to get her to Alaska but wasn't sure if either would be a good candidate for that sort of connection.

I legit laughed out loud four or five times while reading that history. I love the valley girl voice so much.
