Exalted Essence?

So the draft manuscript for Exalted Essence has been out for almost a year now and the final is a little over five months out from done.

I'm really interested in giving this lighter and thinner Exalted skeleton a go, especially since all the exalt types + exigents are available. To that end, I'm seeking a group and ST who would be willing to run a game with a mixed party of types, so that everyone interested would have a chance to try out what interests them most.

Yeah, it's a much simpler Exalted (there's only 3 attributes for instance) that doesn't take as much time to play. Combat, for instance, shouldn't be hours to play through.

 I'm not entirely sure on that part, I think you need to message either KS or the campaign manager for that.

And I take it you're looking at making a Lunar for this?

I would offer, but honestly, I know I can't keep a game going. If someone wants to run but doesn't have a story idea, I can certainly help then.

I don’t use Kickstarter.  I forget what they ended up stealing from - I thought it was Lewd Idol Project but apparently that was PayPal - but I could be talked into giving Exalted Essence a shot when it comes out.  Just let me know when it does.

One idea we could do is a sandbox game set somewhere big enough to hold a variety of Exalts- Nexus, Chiaroscuro, Wu Jian, and I think Diamond Hearth is the northern large city.

Thousands of years ago, at the height of the first age, seven mystical orbs were forged. Each was imbued with a sliver of the Incarnae's power. Powerful beyond belief, they held in thrall the God of Wishes and when brought together could summon it forth. During the Usurpation, fearing abuse of their power , the circle charged with protecting them spread them to the ends of Creation. Buried, forgotten, with all evidence they existed all but wiped from Creation they laid dormant.
In one region of the Scavenger Lands a group of exalted search for the orbs, seeking to use their power. For good or ill, remains to be seen.

The only 7 mystical orbs I can think of is Dragonball, but I might be well off base. I only know about that because I've friends who like DBZ and my mind remembers weird bits of trivia :)

Yes, the idea is dragon ball inspired. OG dragon ball to be precise. If you don't know anything about the series, don't worry. I'm mostly going to use it as a very loose guide.

So are there good rules for martial arts in Essence? Such a game would probably demand some martial artists !

I haven't really looked over what has been sent out so far. I was waiting for the final version before I had a proper read over it. I get mixed up enough with the differences in 2nd and 3rd ed as it is :)

Attributes go from 9 to 3, Abilities are merged down from 27 to 14 and lots of charms that have the same effect across exalt types are merged together into universal charms. So like, Ox-Body Technique is something every Exalt has with slight differences noted for each. Same thing with Graceful Crane Stance, Dragon-Coil Technique, etc.

Well, martial arts are almost the example of universal Charms, aren't they? I mean, in 1e-2e any Celestial can learn Celestial MA, and any Essence-user can learn Terrestrial martial arts, and Sidereals and Solaroids all can learn Sideral Martial arts. 3e makes it even more universal, with any Essence-user being able to learn any martial art, except some Charms have different effects for different types of Exaltations, via keywords.
So are they still a thing in Essence, or do you have only "native" Charms? I mean, technically you should be able to homebrew them, using the rules for creating Charms.

No, haven't got Essence yet, but that wouldn't take long once I've decided whether I want the book on my shelf .
