Exalted Essence?

Well, martial arts are almost the example of universal Charms, aren't they? I mean, in 1e-2e any Celestial can learn Celestial MA, and any Essence-user can learn Terrestrial martial arts, and Sidereals and Solaroids all can learn Sideral Martial arts. 3e makes it even more universal, with any Essence-user being able to learn any martial art, except some Charms have different effects for different types of Exaltations, via keywords.
So are they still a thing in Essence, or do you have only "native" Charms? I mean, technically you should be able to homebrew them, using the rules for creating Charms.

No, haven't got Essence yet, but that wouldn't take long once I've decided whether I want the book on my shelf .

So wait they made it now so even Lunars can learn Sidereal MA in 3E? That seems a little broken to me and robs SMA of some of its uniqueness. Though some of the other changes are kind of cool what with the weapons developing their own unique powers based upon their wielder's actions. Otherwise...not something I think I like.

 No, lunars can't learn SMA, at least in Essence. To quote

Only Sidereals can develop and fully master these styles, though Abyssals, Getimians, Infernals, and Solars can learn directly from Sidereal tutors.

No idea, since I don't think there's a single SMA published for 3e. What I was referring was the stuff that I had seen for 3e.

What I was referring to wasn't Lunars and SMA, it was Terrestrials obviously being allowed to practice Celestial MAs...something that would have required additional "gateway" charms in 1-2e. But this time around, it seems* they're just allowing Terrestrials to practice them, but the keywords are still making sure it's not as efficient as other splats.

*Some of the authors had said that they want to allow everyone to practice any style this time around. No idea if they've stuck to this vision, since I am yet to read the DB book  for 3e - this is just based on the core, which explicitly has a Terrestrial keyword...a keyword introducing additional limitations to the Charm in question when practiced by a Terrestrial.
Maybe they still need Immaculate (or similar) initiation to even attempt it, or maybe the initiation allows them to ignore the Terrestrial keyword? Again, I'd need to check the DB book, eventually...
But that day ain't likely to be today.

Also, Essence basically allows you all to make your own version of the setting, so I believe such questions would be best addressed to the potential Referee .

Also the curve between player* exalt types  is even in essence whether your celestial or terrestrial although the difference in power level between exalted types are still a thing for NPCs.

Been a few months and one failed attempt at running this by my own hand, would anyone else like to try running a game of Essence?
